I can't wait for the Giants to kick the season off against the Cowboys. This defense is a lot different from last year, and I hope that the Giants D can play effectively enough to reduce some of the pressure on the Giants offense. Can't wait to watch the Cowboys lose tomorrow.

megamanmaniac : Your defense has improved significantly. Guys like Vernon are going to help against the run and the pass, I think he's your biggest grab, and Damon Harrison and Janoris Jenkins will help against run and pass, respectively. You don't need much of a defense though, just a bit of one. Also, Eli Apple in the draft.

II have the Giants winning the NFC East 10-6. You'll have an incredible passing game with Victor Cruz as a veteran leader, Odell Beckham Jr. is an incredible player and, of course, a ticket seller, and then Sterling Shepherd is a promising rookie. Before Romo was out, I still had Cowboys taking it, but without him, there's no chance, and the 'Skins will barely pull off a winning record again.

Now, I did have the Broncos beating the Panthers, but I kind of wanted Cam to win. xD That Denver defense won't carry them too far this season though, unfortunately. Their offense just can't match up, and great defenses rarely last more than a year, at least at that level.

Jordanv78 : lol the Andrew Luck puns are real.

While the Denver Broncos are my home team that doesn't mean I am rooting for them this year. In fact, I could care less if they make the playoffs this year. Peyton Manning was a great part of the team for so many years and now that it's over the team has lost it's spark and interest from me. Plus, I really do not like some of the players on the team (eventhough they are considered great at what they do... they are at times full of themselves and act unprofessional). Aqib Talib for instance likes to poke people in the eyes and start fights with opposing teams. I see him costing the team major plays this season. Leadership is also questionable due to a brand new QB making his regular season debut.

I watched about 5 minutes of the opening game against Panthers and turned the channel when Panthers steamrolled through the defense like swiss cheese. Then I tuned it at the last two minutes to see the conclusion. We are very lucky Panthers botched that last minute field goal, our coach was so embarrassed and or disappointed that he couldn't even watch the final kick.

I
am looking forward to is seeing how well Brock Osweiler (last years backup QB for Broncos) performs against Broncos. I kind of
feel bad for anyone playing QB for the Broncos because both Tebow, Brock
and even coach Fox got screwed by Elway, Trevor Siemian may be the next
out the door even if he performs well that is just how the team is
managed.

Finally, football's back! Hopefully tomorrow's games will be as good as the kickoff game was. As long as my Bengals beat the Jets, I'll be happy. I expect this to be a low scoring game. The Bengals 2nd ranked scoring defense last year, only allowing an average of 17.4 points per game will keep the Jets from putting up any more than 2 TD's. Even though the Bengals have a bunch of new receivers this year, I still think they'll be able to do just enough on offense to win 17-14.

The Bengals Jets game should be interesting for Week 1. Both teams have had their ups and downs so far. That fake play for the TD Green really burned Revis. That was pretty cool. The Bengals also had a nice stop making sure the Jets Got 0 after the turnover. That was huge as well. So far though, the biggest key looks like the Missed/Blocked kicks form Foles So far. Was hilarious to see him get blocked from basically the goal line. You don't see to many get blocked from that distance.

Wentz looked good for his first drive of his Career. Dropped the dime pretty nice to Matthews on that TD. Browns had a nice drive though cut the deficit to 3. Really Wentz has looked comfortable all day in his NFL debut.

The game I'm having the most fun watching so far is the Jags and Packers.

Biggest surprise so far early in the 1st half of games is the Chargers really taking it to the Chiefs in KC...a place they haven't played so well at.

Also, you have to feel bad for Keenan Allen. He's just been snakebitten with injuries in his career. He was putting on a clinic in the first half too.

Well, I'm really glad that the Bengals were able to get the win today. I gotta admit, I was nervous all day with all the hits that Andy Dalton took, getting sacked 7 times, but somehow he managed to throw for 366 yards. What most people will probably look at though is the missed extra point and blocked field goal kicked by Nick Folk. If he had made both of those, I wouldn't be celebrating right now.

That Packers Jags game was really good though. I wasn't expecting that one to be as close as it was, so seeing the Jags come close to pulling off an upset gives me more confidence that they will in fact be able to win the AFC South division this year, like I predicted before the season began.

gamerforlifeforever : Jacksonville has made some good strides to improve. They've come close to winning a few games last year and Bortles is better with two really nice receivers and a decent defense. They could win some games.

I'm saddened the Chargers didn't hold on at KC. They should have won that game. Too bad they dropped the ball, literally.

And finally, I don't agree with NFL overtime. I hate it. I think it's bad and it has no business existing. College does it right, end of story.

Honestly I really couldn't believe that the Chargers blew that 21-3 lead. They just couldn't get anything going after Allen went down with his injury. The Jags had their chances to win that game, really it's their fault they didn't have a better shot to win.

The most shocking thing so far in week 1 for me was watching the Raiders go for 2 down 1, and really the Saints kicker just BARELY missed that 61 yard FG. Not much else has really surprised me a ton so far in the early games. I guess that The Bills did so poorly against Baltimore? All sorts of experts were figuring that Tyrod would have a good game against his old team. instead it seemed like he shrunk in a big moment.

Jordanv78 : Being a Raiders fan, and missing basically the whole 4th quarter of the game, and being told they went for two, I was like "what was Del Rio thinking???". I was later told that they did convert the attempt and they ended up winning the game. I did not believe it honestly, since I thought the 14 point lead was too much to overcome for the Raiders. Although they won, I felt the Raiders' defense was pretty poor for the most part and Drew Brees had little issues torching the secondary. I hope they can get better with defending the pass. The offense looked pretty solid, for the most part, which is good. I honestly did not expect the Raiders to win this game, since it was being played in New Orleans. Hopefully, they can keep it up and maybe make the playoffs this year, after like 15 years, lol.

RDay13 : Yeah, I hear you. It was a crazy game. I think most people around the league thought that the Raiders Defense would be solid this year, especially after all the additions they made on that side of the ball in the offseason. That being said, it's only week 1.

My Bears looked like crud in the second half. Houston made adjustments and the Bears didn't respond. I didn't expect much from them this year, but it's still disappointing.

I was also surprised that the Fins played so well on the road, only to blow the game in the last 2 mins.

Lions Colts game has been interesting as well. Back and fourth battle all day long.

The Giants manage to get the W against the Cowboys in a hard fought game. Our defense has looked better than it has in recent memory, getting key red zone stops and shutting down Bryant. Cruz looks like he's finally in shape and made some big receptions alongside Beckham and Sterling. Finally, their O-Line looked competent today (albeit against a pathetic pass rush). I'm really excited to see the Giants play this year, and I think they can reach 10-12 wins this season if all goes well.

I think opening week pretty much what was expected.

The Browns were not bad but terrible as they got blown out 29-10 against the Eagles. I think it shows how the Browns are going to struggle this year.

The Bengals barely won against the Jets. But they got stops when they needed them and Dalton made good plays to get the W

The Ravens won against the Bills. The Ravens look to have a good defense but I wonder about the offense. Flaaco did good but his receivers need to get more yards

Vikings won against the Titans they don't have Teddy Bridgewater but their defense will keep them in games.

Seattle won against the Dolphins by 2 points. Seattle's defense looks to be very good

New Orleans proved they still have one of the worst defenses in the entire NFL. Breese threw for 4 touchdowns but the defense gave up a woeful 35 points. New Orleans can't win like that.

The Colts also proved they have one of the worst defenses too. As they gave up 39 points. Luck had a very good game but it will be hard to win with a defense that can't stop the other team.

Green Bay had a good game and Rodgers proved he is back. But their opponent Jacksonville showed a much improved team as it came down to the very end.

Thursday Night games are always kinda cruddy so it's really hard to get a good read on teams on those games, but dang did this game start off strange. Bills looks like they are dead in the water, but keep staying alive with long bombs (one on a broken play) then there's a quick defensive TD early in the 2nd half and it's anyones game. Should be fun to see how it finishes! Kinda helps one of my money fantasy leagues, because I have Decker starting in place of the injured K. Allen that I lost for the season last week.
Thursday Night games are always kinda cruddy so it's really hard to get a good read on teams on those games, but dang did this game start off strange. Not gonna lie, I'm kind of upset that the Jets didn't give Ryan Fitzpatrick a few more throws to get to 400 yards, which he would have had if he got credit for a called back play for holding. I know everyone says he's over hyped or whatever, but if you watch him play, he makes some incredible passes, and his arm strength is rather impressive. I think the Bengals are just a better team than the Jets, and that sucked, but the Jets could make the playoffs this year, and I'd love that, they're my number 2 team.

I'm angry at the Titans right now. DeMarco Murray needed to come in big, and despite two touchdowns, he had two fumbles, and that cost us the game, along with a pick 6 by Mariota. I know he can play better than that, and while he did put up 250 yards and 2 TDs against that incredible good secondary, I want more out of him with a somewhat improved recieiving core. They should be 1-0 right now, but they blew it.

So yesterday, I heard that the Bengals had picked up Kansas City Chiefs 3rd round pick Keivarae Russell off the waiver wire.  To be exact, he was the 74th pick of the 2016 NFL draft. I highly doubt the guy will get much playing time this year since he had problems getting used to the Chiefs defensive system, and now he's with a whole other team.

I have one question, why would you release a rookie that you used such a high draft pick for after just 1 week in the regular season? I mean, maybe he'll have just as much issues with his new team as he had with the Chiefs, but come on, you used a 3rd round pick on the guy. At least give him at least a year to improve before releasing the guy. This is a move that could come back to bite the Chiefs down the road, and could be viewed down the road as a bargain for the Bengals, or maybe he'll get released by them and nobody else will want him, who knows.

Y4123 : They did play. They played the day before you made this post. They beat the Colts in Indianapolis and tried everything they had to lose the game. I was ready with my Same Old Lions and they found a way to not lose.

The Lions aren't good. But the Colts are bad and they dropped the game when they had multiple chances to take it. It was intriguing to watch.

Now the Lions get Tennessee, who's bad, at home for their opener. Will they start 2-0 and continue to lead the NFC North? I think they will. Tennessee is horrendous and the Lions actually made some stops. Now that they don't have Calvin Johnson, they have to spread the ball around and Stafford looked much more like a real quarterback who was checking down receivers and not hurling the ball out there for Calvin to go get.

It's nice. They don't look terrible.

gamerforlifeforever : In those type of situations it usually means the team wasted a pick on a guy. It's been known to happen but is certainly rare. Maybe he has some other outside of football issues. Who knows. I figure he's not long for the NFL, or at least he's practice squad material.

gamerforlifeforever : You can look at it a few ways and I know the one I prefer. Reid said it was a football related decision so there you go. They're not giving anything juicy away and maybe something will come out when KeiVarae shows up on a roster somewhere.

To me, it means Kansas City and whoever the GM is, I know I can look him up, have admitted a mistake and can cut their losses. They recognize Russell isn't going to fit for them and they cut him loose. The fact that they didn't work out a trade or get considerations makes things really interesting but maybe they couldn't get anything for him because his value is so low.

In that case, shame on them for missing an obvious pick. Like you said, he's a third rounder, not a sixth round safety from Weber St that a team is taking a flyer to get. That's a big mistake and it makes the Chiefs organization looked embarrassing.

I'll be interested to see what happens once the dust settles. I bet Russell will find time and get snaps in the NFL. I'm pretty sure everyone has seen him play at the college level and I have to watch Notre Dame because I live in the Land of the B1G and the Irish get plenty of screen time here.

He's talented, he's big and strong and he tackles well. I would be shocked if he didn't play a down the rest of the year.
