Most of us being adults (or soon to be), we all share a similar goal. We all want to choose a profession that both suits our interests and is rewarding. What's the point in working a job you don't like, even if it pays well? Some of us can be pretty picky about what we choose to do, and others might have not even decided yet. Careers are for life, so it's best to choose one you actually enjoy and would put the time into.

What encouraged you to choose your profession? Would you ever quit? If you don't have a job, which would you want? Would you stick to one, or have more?

Because it was a hobby at first I enjoyed it then I started making far more bigger plans for it. Sadly its still hasn't gotten there yet. I really enjoy my job because I found it really suits what I do, and the styles for that as well. They are not easy to do, but its something worth having. I don't like choosing a job I wouldn't really be happy doing just for money. I want to be able to enjoy what I do just as much as I would earn how much from doing it. To be honest its morely if you can to enjoy the job that you pick. Not all people are fortunate, and have to stick to ones they are not happy with. '-'

I didn't really choose my job. I was doing membership sales and development at a branch that was doing okay and another branch started failing because senior leadership there pulled a disappearing act and didn't really show up to do the work.

Suddenly, our company, who was a vendor for a large hospital system, was in danger of losing the account, which accounted for a ton of money.

On Monday, the guy who runs the regional operations, came to my work and said, "Hey, I don't know much about you. Let's talk and see what we're working with and maybe think about the future."

On Tuesday, he said, "Okay, here's the problem and you're on a short list to be the solution."

I asked how long the short list was. He didn't say anything and he just looked me. I was like, "Okay, let's do this."

A year and a half later, we're hitting numbers we've never seen before, we have great member engagement, the hospital representation is pleased with my efforts and I'm learning a ton and developing my staff.

They picked me. I chose nothing. I chose a better job with a chance to move up, more pay, better hours, a better commute, and solid leadership opportunities. That's not really a choice.

Heck, I got lucky.

I chose the job that I had because I always wanted to work with something in transit to see what it was like and each of the past 3 years the job was on the list but not available for me, so I was lucky that I was able to try it out this time around and I liked it a lot.

Ultrajeff :

I’m a writer who covers combat sports, (Primarily Boxing, but have also covered Pro Wrestling and MMA as well.) I have been writing for most of the last 20 yrs, but didn’t start pursuing it as a career option until I left school.  Although writing for one’s vocation in rewarding in the form of recognition you might receive and establishing a reader base that can far exceed where you might be located, it is often one of the most difficult ways to make a living.  Even after all these years (I started writing shortly before I became a teenager) it’s still a struggle for me to make money. What motivates me is that I know I have the talent and eventually perseverance will pay off once the right opportunity comes along, which is why even when it has been trying and a source of stress for me, I haven’t given up and I don’t intend to.

One reason I chose writing as my profession was I discovered that I was good at it at an early age literally by accident and it’s just something I stuck with after stumbling upon what I consider to be a god given gift.  Seeing as I have vast knowledge of combat sports as well, even when I was younger, it seemed like a natural thing for me.  If I wasn’t physically challenged, I probably would have tried my hand at one of the sports (Most likely Boxing), but being involved with the sport in terms of covering it and hopefully one day getting into the broadcasting end of it somehow (I’ve done radio appearances and even a TV appearance in the UK before), was the next best thing beyond being physically involved since I can’t physically compete.

I'm an actor/playwright... I couldn't really tell you why I chose that as my job. But I can tell you that I've become excellent at waiting tables because of it...

No, but seriously, it's so much fun! I love writing plays and seeing them come to life through other people's interpretation of my words. It's one of the most rewarding things I could have ever imagined doing!

I chose to work at my local McDonald's because my mother had worked there for a long time. Because of this it influenced my decision and now my mother gives me advice on how to do my job better.

I didn't choose my job; my job chose me
I was right out of college, needed to get money, get experience, get good, and well becoming and Administrative Assistant seemed quite easy- too easy actually, I took on Marketing and Contracting Specialist as well, Then, now became Regional Recruiter, trainer, still Assistant but, it's cool.
