It's here (almost) and it's preeeety. ._. It's finally on it's way: the next major Here's a look at most of what we know. Folders Makes my inner neat freak squeal with delight. Squeal little neat freak, squeal. Yes, PS4 is finally getting the folders that PlayStation gamers have been asking for. The excitement for this feature is for two reasons: ease of use and a neater UI. The former being because it's much easier to find a specific game when not all games and apps are lumped into one big list. You may sort games from apps and leave it at that, or you may sort games by genre, rating, or importance if you're a streamer or LPer etc. Though oddly the PS Vita has had this feature for as long as I've had one. The neater UI is similar in that it allows you to keep things uncluttered. It looks much better to have two or three folders than twenty items in a long row. Offline Trophies While I'm not entirely sure who thought it would be a good idea to make trophies an online only feature to begin with, no longer will looking at your trophy list require an internet connection. You will have an option available to you that allows you to switch between online and off just like the PS Vita....hmm... Nowhere for trophies to hide! 4.0 Brings with it a rather unexpected feature in the ability to unhide hidden trophies. No longer will you have to guess at what those buggers are for (or look them up online like everyone does)! Now you're only a click away from seeing just what you need to accomplish for them. A word of advice though: since some trophies are hidden because they contain spoilers, you might want to finish your first playthrough before going all Talion on them and unleashing your secret revealing powers. UI Refresh I've seen this one in some screenshots and it certainly is pretty. The PS4's current look isn't bad at all, but that didn't stop Sony from deciding to give it a few touchups to make it nicer and fresh all over again. Quick Menu Touchups Snazzy The quick menu that pops up when you press and hold the PlayStation button on your Dualshock 4 has been redesigned and now only covers a portion of the screen instead of pausing your game and covering the entire screen. It looks much nicer and modern, plus it keeps you in the flow of the game. Though I must admit that I have no idea how you'll be able to navigate a quick menu while playing a game at the same time. Apparently the same is being done to the Share menu as well which is both cool and off putting. It needed a better look because it was beyond primitive, but pausing gameplay while trying to save a video clip or screenshot, or share a controller via share play is going to lead to a lot of gaming mishaps. Let's hope that such isn't the case. It was a fairly vague descr Hopefully it's as functional as it is sleek. And there's more that hasn't been revealed yet, plus some touch ups to the library, user profile UI changes, and more. Some are even claiming that recording limit is being changed from fifteen minutes to one hour, which is a great feature for LPers. Oh, god, offline trophies and unhide hidden trophies... How the hell did this take them soooo long? It should have been done years ago, because it's incredibly silly that without internet you cannot look at your own list of achievements. And well, hidden trophies sometimes are rather silly to get as they need specific actions you normally wouldn't do, so it's a relief we can now know what those trophies demand without having to look somewhere else. And well, some games don't automatically pause when you press the Playstation or Share buttons, so not covering the full screen is a much needed solution in those cases. We shall see how can you navigate through the game and the menu at the same time, if you can actually do that. Let's see how long it takes to make it go live. We should expect it before VR arrives, or that's what logic says anyways. That all sounds awesome, especially if it's all implemented in a practical way that's easy to use. The Trophy features are going to be a huge deal to a lot of people, and I really wish this This really makes me want a PlayStation 4 even more, though sadly I'm a broke fool. Also, your little bits of commentary along with the pictures are hilarious haha I always look forward to reading your articles. Keep'em coming man! EX Palen : I never even considered unhiding trophies a possibility so I was quite shocked to see it added. The only trophies that should be hidden in my opinion are trophies that explicitly spoil the game's story. That's why I probably won't unhide any until after my first play through of a game. Unfortunately developers all too often hide trophies needlessly, so I was pretty excited for this feature.
No idea why they made trophies online only on PS4 to begin with though. That was a huge pain for me since I would have to reconnect to my phone's hotspot every time I wanted to check on what the next feasible trophy was when hunting. I hadn't even thought of games that didn't pause when you pressed one of those buttons (such as MMOs). Still it won't be that helpful since using the stick, D buttons, or any other buttons will control the cursor on the menu instead of the character theoretically. I suppose a player with quick reflexes could back out of the menu in time to dodge an attack or something. Hopefully the games that suspended the action before still do. I'm really hoping it goes live in the next few weeks but that might not be too realistic given that the beta just began. Mynamescox44 : lol Yes I need all the spare seconds I can get to play games. xD I was honestly hoping folders would conceal what was in them so I could hide games from my nephews more easily, but such doesn't seem to be the case. It makes sense to show what's in them without having to open them though, and looks great that way. Thanks, man. And we need to get you a PS4! *sends you $400* If only.
