This question has probably been asked before, but since I don't think I should bump any old threads, I figured I'd make a new one...

Do you like horror games? If so, what game has so far best succeeded in scaring the pants off of you? For me, it's probably Silent Hill 2. The part in the prison freaked me out especially. There is this murmuring there and I never found who or what did that. It's probably Pyramid Head, but that's exactly the thing that scares me so much - I just don't know. And I love it.

Other games that are good contenders for the scariest games I played are Alien: Isolation, Slender and Resident Evil Code: Veronica X.

Well, honestly, I have only ever actually played one horror game, and that was...no, not The Evil Within, it was something else. Outlast! That was it! I played Outlast once, and I was actually pretty bad at the game to be completely honest.

I did enjoy it, and it did scare me a good deal, I was really jumpy by about ten minutes in to it, and all of the monsters and mutations, or 'patients' really set me on edge, since I knew that any one of them could come out and attack me.

Oh! I have also played Slender! I never jumped or anything with that one, but I did not enjoy it as much as the others, despite how much I played it at night with my dog next to me. I always just felt like, no matter what, it was only a matter of time before he got me, so I never had any fun with it, and I think that I ended up just deleting it.

I have to say Resident Evil 4 and Parasite Eve. I haven't been able to play others such as Evil Within, The Last Of Us, The Walking Dead, Dead Space etc. I do plan on playing them one day if I can I even heard Silent Hill is something not out of the ordinary and can scare you. For some strange odd unknown reason I like horror games. Not sure how or why maybe because of how the gameplay is, or how the game is as a whole. @.@

There are a ton of flash games out there that have "scared" me, if jump-scares count as scaring. However, I don't count that as being legitimately scary. There's only one game I can remember that genuinely scared me, Deadlight.

It's set in the 80s during a zombie apocalypse. You play as a guy who's trying to find his family....but then the story takes a turn for the darker. A lot of the game also takes place in dark areas which makes everything all the more terrifying. The game itself has its ups and downs but it was always able to get me scared.

A few games could take this title for me. Though I think out of all of them it would honestly be Welcome To The Game just cause it made me scared to walk around my house now without my flashlight, mainly because my living room looks almost exactly like the area in the game you have to play in and have to avoid getting kidnapped from. So yeah it's a little unsettling for me lmao other than that the game isn't too scary, but freaked me out enough to make me paranoid of my own house.

Well, when I was a kid, it was games like Resident Evil or Silent Hill for sure. Even though the graphics weren't all that amazing yet, the creepy factor to the games was amazing for it's time.

As for more modern titles, I'd have to go with Dead Space ( 1 & 2 ) as well as The Evil Within. Dead Space was all about them jump scares, though the monsters in the game were pretty horrifying for the most part. The Evil Within relied a lot more on suspense, and the feeling of helplessness to keep you on the edge of your seat. It would constantly place you in situations where your only means of survival was to stay hidden, or run for your life, as the monsters coming after you / locked in the room with you, were completely invulnerable to damage, on top of the fact ammo / supplies were really scarce.

Maybe not so scary but, hey I sure jump and scream and freak out when I'm playing it- Left for Dead 2. I lose it when the big guy with the huge Hulk arms storms in.. I just hear the music and I storm up the stairs and hide lol. Ugh I hate that guy -__-'.  Oh the  Tank  yeah that you know what. Also the Boomer scares me... when I am entering an abandoned room way on the last floor and all is quiet and dark... I just know he will be hiding in a corner... and 8/10 he throws up on me.. Not to mention the Smoker being outside near cars I can just hear him and can't seem to find him until he grabs me with his tongue. And the Hunter just hiding somewhere all dressed in black waiting to jump on you and claw you to death. And The Witch used to give me the creeps... mainly because I always shoot at her lol. Scary when you're reloading and she is charging you... ugh good times. I need to get this game again lol. Well just about all characters freak me out, something about their movements, sounds, and attacks creeps me out a bit.

I don't like playing horror games very much, but the scariest game I've ever played would probably be Resident Evil for the PS1.

I have played many horror games, and I'd say the one that not only scared me the most, but affected me emotionally as well, is Silent Hill 2. It's quite incredible, and I highly recommend it.

I have many scary games from my childhood, most traumatizing of them being Resident Evil 3 for some reason. Silent Hill was terrible as well.
The last horror game that really freaked me out was Silent Hill 4. Even the opening scene was so disturbing that I regretted starting the game.

It's so difficult to call a game scary because I'm not really scared by anything. I'd have to say the most frightening """"horror"""" game I've played is probably Resident Evil 4, and it wasn't scary. Nothing really scares me, is all..

I can't really name off any games that scared me, but there were a few that made me nervous and tense. For the first couple playthroughs, Resident Evil 4 was pretty intense just because of the huge crowds of Los Ganados that would swarm you, which taught me a whole lot about choke points. The other's would have to be Resident Evil: Outbreak and Outbreak File #2. The scarcety of supplies, not having any indication of where you need to go or what kind of items to need to find, running around in circles and the absolutely unforgiving enemies make them the hardest games I've ever played. Or maybe I'm just doing it wrong.

Five Night's at Freddys 3. It's actually the only horror game I ever played, but it really got to me. The first time I played it, the fear of upcoming jumpscares had me on edge even at the very beginning of the game when I was listening to the phone guy. I have a bunch of other horror games but never played them.

My first was Resident Evil 2 and Dino Crisis, they were so scary that I was always so jumpy when playing them.. But the scariest must been Dead Space.. When the first one came and I was playing alone in home, put a lights out.... I played it about hour when I had to stop playing it because there was so many scary situations at the beginning so it was very hard to play when my heart was bounding so fast all the time. xD
