I was talking with a friend on Steam last night, and he asked me a question I really expecting: if you could get away with any crime, what would it be? I think I would probably start and run the world's largest gang and use it as an anti-gang by running off all the other gangs and drug cartels and have my people patrol the streets and protect the citizenry.

I would probably steal a bunch of electronics or anything else I wanted. I'm sort of a greedy guy, which I know is not a good thing, but I've been poor all my life and I just want to feel like I have things for once. Not trying to make up excuses so you can go "I pity him," just...bleh. xD

Good question. I would either go with rob a huge bank or execute someone that deserved to die in public.

I would like to say I wouldn't do anything, but that's just really not the case. Like Lunar I would steal electronics, and just generally minor things that I'd like. Unlike him though, I haven't been poor, so its worse for me.

As I really don't have the balls to hurt someone, even if the person deserved to be hurt or even die, I would probably steal money as pretty much everyone would, although I'd be happy already with at least U$30.000 (about R$100.000 in my currency, BRL), the rest would be a mere "fine bonus".

I'd probably just do something that makes me a lot of money. Be it robbing a massive bank, or hacking a major corporation and siphoning away all their funds. Anything to make me really rich. There's very few things in this world money can't buy, and I'll take my chances with what it can't lol. It's not even the money itself I really care about, so much as the ability to acquire anything and everything it can buy at a whim, you know what I mean? Plus I'd really like to be able to take care of my family and the kids they end up having. It's all about what the money can do or buy, more so than being rich in of itself.

They say money can't buy happiness, but it can buy things like Jet-Ski's. And have you ever seen a sad person on a Jet-Ski?

The guy that asked me said he would clean out the Federal Reserve to bankrupt the country, then annex it to Canada (he's Canadian) to form the largest country in the world, with him being the oligarch, then he would buy out all of the big businesses and take over the world.

Well, if the Metal Gear is too impractical, I'd probably siphon funds from some huge company that honestly wouldn't notice a few million gone missing. Or I'd get a totally awesome but not street legal car. Like a Sherman or something.

I'd probably rob a game store or electronics store lol. I don't know what it's like in other countries but at least here robbing a bank probably wouldn't be as lucrative as it first sounds. Since they often have a limit on how much physical money they'll keep there. Video games&consoles would not only interest me more but all together would probably be worth more than robbing a bank... That is if I could sell all of it afterwards.

I'd feel bad if it weren't for the fact that I'm pretty sure the company could stand to lose the money without flinching. I would say siphon funds from some multi million company but to do that I'd need the skills to make it happen in the first place.

Zlinqx : Well, finding a fence for stolen tech would be pretty tough I think, but it would probably be easier done than trying to spend stolen cash with reported serial numbers. Of course, if you were to rob a bank, you wouldn't just take the cash; there's everything in the safety deposit boxes, too. Honestly, doing it electronically would be your best bet because all you would have to do is make sure there's no electronic paper trail, and that's already covered in the "get away with it" part of the proposition.

I would walk into Walmart and grab as many Wii Us (the Smash Bros. and Splatoon bundle), New 3DSs, 20 inch Vizios, Gamecube for Wii U adapters, $50 eShop cards, and class 10 16GB SDHC cards as possible and book it home. Then hold a giant Smash 4 tourny. Start handing out free New 3DS's and a personal Smash 4 setup to take home for every entrant because why not. Also I would have like 30 personal New 3DSs because why not.

tornadocam : While I'm highly concerned about the confiscation issue, I doubt they'll be able to manage outlawing religion altogether. Not without some serious thought reform. I'm right there with you, though. The moment that law ceases to serve and protect it's people and instead target them, it's outlived it's purpose. The only difference between that scenario and the question is the fact that It won't be a what-if. I WILL get away with it. The people at Waco were confused and disorganized and had a lot of infighting. It'll be different if ever gets to the point where we have to build a fortress in the mountains.

Who's the 9% of the country who's trying to ban religion? There are atheists who are trying to have public displays of religion removed but I can't name a single group who is outright trying to ban religion.

As for me, I was thinking about this question. I'm a big supporter of property rights and I can't abide by stealing anything. I can't think of any violent crimes I'd commit, like arson or assault.

I speed regularly but only 8-12 mph over the limit. I don't do anything crazy because speeding can end up killing me, no matter how good a driver I am. The jaywalking comment was pretty good.

I think I would ban clothing requirements at specific beaches and pool facilities. People should be able to wear as much or as little as they like in the hot summer months near lakes and oceans.

tornadocam : About owning a gun, I'm not sure if I'm right but I believe USA is one of the very few countries to allow that. Here in Brazil owning a gun was always a crime. You can't even carry ammo or anything related, even if you don't have a gun - if the police finds even one stray bullet in your possession, you'll go to jail right away.

I actually saw this happen yesterday on TV, a man got a few bullets to make a belt because he was a rocker. Yeah, pretty strange, but I've saw even stranger things happen around here.

I would want to get away with stealing. I know, it's been said to death but I would like to steal whatever games or consoles I want. Oh and food too. I wouldn't do it often though because that's mean so I'll probably just steal items that I think don't deserve to be bought for money.
