Which Super Smash Bros. games have you played before? Of all the Super Smash Bros. games that you've played, which one do you think is the best?

I've played the original for the Nintendo 64, Brawl Edit: whoops, it's Melee, and the 3DS game. In my opinion, the 3DS game is the best because you can play it in 3D, there's an amazing variety of characters (even Pac-Man!), and the controls are not that hard and impressive for a handheld game.

I'm waiting for the Melee noobs.

Smash 4 3DS is my favorite out of the series. I can't compare them to Wii U because I don't have a Wii U. (i cri)

Lexatom : From what I've heard, the 3DS and Wii U versions are very similar. I have a Wii U but I still didn't get the Wii U version Even though I really like Super Smash Bros. on the 3DS, I don't play it much because I keep getting caught up in other games. One day I'll be addicted to it again possibly XD

Arguably, Super Smash Bros. for Wii U. Yes, the 3DS version is portable and has has Smash Run and the Streetpass mode. The convenience and portability is great. But the Wii U version has the most features and modes, has 8-player Smash, and is compatible with tons of different controllers.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl had a story mode absent from all other Smash Bros. games. This was fantastic. But it's limited to two players, and Brawl doesn't quite have the wealth of features that the Wii U version has.

Project M is also well-designed...but it's largely competitive, leaving little room for casual play. Therefore, its scope is very limited.

64 has that nostalgic appeal, but is extremely limited in scope. Those looking for simplicity will find it here, but those looking for expansive features won't find that in 64.

Competitively, many, if not most people would say it's Melee. But overall, I'd have to give my vote to SSB for Wii U. There's just so much in that version that makes Melee look rather obsolete except inside the hardcore competitive community, which I am not a part of along with most of the people who play Smash Bros. Most people who buy Smash Bros. like to play with their friends locally or online and aren't aiming for glory at EVO.

supernerd117 : Wow, 8-player Smash sounds crazy and really fun! I think the 3DS version would have all the modes the Wii U version has if it wasn't for the fact that there's less storage space to work with on a 3DS. I like the simplicity and graphics of the Nintendo 64 version and it's probably my 2nd favorite.

You gotta keep in mind Smash brothers took the control Scheme of the original Mario brothers and made into a genius fighting game.
Literally.. you could play it with an NES controller if you don't mind not being able to throw.

I haven't played the newer ones at all, so my vote goes to SSBM.

Melee for the win

I haven't played anything past Brawl, so my vote has to go to Melee. I absolutely loved everything the game had to offer, and it was always better than Brawl or the original in my opinion. Plus my main has always been Link, and even though his attacks haven't changed too much between the 3 titles (from what I remember), I liked his set up the best in Melee.

Lexatom :
I guess I'm one of those "Melee noobs" you spoke of... Funny how you call me that and this is my answer.

SuperCrash64 : Yeah, that's pretty cool. I wouldn't mind not being able to throw, I never did that much. Most of my time was spent doing barely anything but punching and trying to get used to the controls XD

Mynamescox44 : I've wanted to play Melee before but I've never had the game. My neighbor let me borrow it a few years ago but I never played it so that was pointless!

I personally think Brawl is the best out of the 4 mainly its for soundtrack. It has the best soundtrack ever in my opinion, and plus it has story mode, the Subspace Emissary, so that's another plus! Brawl for Gamecube? Do you mean Melee? Or maybe Melee on the Wii? You can play gamecube games on your wii, but you cannot play wii games on the gamecube. Smash 3DSHD is also pretty good, and I tried the original as well on Vizzed, but it kept on lagging

Brawl is also my favorite game of all time!

greenluigi : I did mean Melee, when I played it at my friend's house I didn't get to see the name of the game. The original doesn't ever lag for me on vizzed, that's weird that it does for you. Try clicking on the Rice button next to "Plugins:" and if that doesn't work I don't know what else might :/

Well I haven't played the new one so I'll go with Brawl because of my many memories playing it with friends.

It's crazy because we were marathoning it and every time a new foe appeared we were so scared yet so excited at the same time

Pacman+Mariofan : Thankfully, I had had the chance to play all of the versions at one time or another. My favorite game to play against other people is Super Smash Bros for the Wii U. The fighting mechanics run sooooo smoothly it's astounding, the graphics and music are amazing and the selection of characters is better than ever, as is the selection of game stages. Although, for single player, it stinks. After Super Smash Melee, then Brawl, I was so looking forward to the next epic smash story. Sadly, we didn't get one. Instead, we got Super Smash Mario Party mode. I don't know how others feel about this part, but when I compare it to the Sub-Space Emissary of brawl, party mode feels so lame.

Super smash bros brawl has my favorite single player mode ever, and improves upon the mode selection and character roster from before, without giving us characters that are above smashing power like cloud and bayonetta. This game also introduces the smash ball and character customization. Play was smoother in melee and is all around the best one if you're playing by yourself just to have a good time.

Also, Melee was my first smash game, so it holds the favorite spot, even though I actually play the others way more!

If you know me well, then you will know that I am a pretty old fashioned guy XD I think there is no better Super Smash Bros game than the original one for the Nintendo 64.

I like games that keep it simple. SSB had a good selection of characters, not too many, and the move sets were somewhat basic as well. Nowadays you have a ridiculous amount of characters to choose from and all of them have all sorts of combos and grabs...its crazy! I guess it kind of reminds me of Pokemon. You had the first generation that was pretty basic. Now there's like 6 or 7 generations with newer types and moves...it just makes my brain hurt too much lol

But anyways, there's no other version better than the first one. For the record, I kicked butt with Samus and literally blasted all my friends away with her XD I miss those days...

Melee>SSB4>Smash 64>Brawl

I'm more of a fan of fast-paced games, so to me Melee is the best. Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS are way too slow and defensive for me. I could just never get into them. I'm not saying SSB4 requires no skill, but Melee definitely has a way higher skill ceiling. Smash 64 has tons of combos but it's too floaty and there aren't enough characters or technical mechanics. And of course Brawl sucks.

There's also Project M which is totally the best but does that really count?
