Super Smash Brothers for the Nintendo 64 is a fondly remembered title, and is known for launching one of the greatest fighting franchises to ever come around.     For a while the game wasn't actually intended to be smash brothers and a completely different project all together, the combat was mostly the same but the Nintendo based characters were nowhere in the beta of this game. Needless to say, I think everyone had their fair share of Frustration with Nintendo's brand of characters and this was a great solution to solve it.
There has since been multiple smash brother titles available, so that raises the question how does the original still stand today?

Graphics: 10/10
This is another great game that showed off the Nintendo 64's 3D graphic capabilities.    All of the sprites for the characters were in the very early stage of 3D; thus meaning they have a bit of a polygon vibe to them.   There are multiple stages,  each of the stages at the time had to be layered in a 2D background rendered over 3D Sprites as every other 3d game at this time had to do as well.   The graphics look very cartoonist, very wacky animations were everywhere in each fight,  each KO was ridiculously awesome(Especially if you knock your opponent into the sky)The game had a general kid playing with dolls kinda theme(This is resembled more thanks to Master Hand) The level and character designs stand very true to each character's franchise to which he/she depending the character comes from. The most common example would be the Pokémon Pikachu and the Pokémon level featuring a few cameo non-playable Pokémon NPCS in the background, you could see some of the cities that were in the Pokémon games. This gives the game the signature iconic look and really helps it's appeal when compared to other Nintendo 64 titles.

Sound: 9/10
All of the sound effects in the game are grunts from the original cast of Characters or they were recycled from various other Nintendo 64 titles.  For example: If you defeat Link or send him into the sky, he'll do the same sound effects as he would if he was failing in Ocarina of Time.
So the sound is basically composed of Smash and wacky sound effects to further push the idea that this game isn't meant to be taken as a serious fighter in any means.
The Music for the game is also fairly good, but to me personally it sounds too similar as if it was on a Super Nintendo Sound chip.   The Hyrule Castle level has the traditional Zelda theme, and if you listen to the Zelda theme from Link to the past; they'll sound remarkably similar.

Addictiveness: 10/10
This game is still a Jam to play on the N64, most enjoyable with friends over.     There's a ton of replay value as the game really doesn't have a stopping point, and the matches are generally fun to play.
I can't really describe it, but the game is simple and fun in pretty much every way possible.

The biggest thing that made this game accessible for everyone was how the game controlled, this game was vastly different from any other fighting games out there.  Most fighting games would require you to do a sequence of button and d-pad combinations to perform high amount of damage or special moves.   Smash brothers differs from this as it took the two button control scheme of Super Mario Brothers and somehow made it into a Genius fighting game.So really there's no excuses as to why you can't play this.

Story: N/A
All I get from the information in the game is that the Main Nintendo characters are being played with as dolls and to end this you gotta pick a fighter and defeat Master Hand.

Depth: 9/10
If you look online somewhere, you'd probably know that there was a ton of more features that were originally planned for this title but ended up being in later Super Smash Brothers games so I'm not gonna repeat what other sites have said.
This game offers 1P mode.   VS mode which let's you play any kind of match and the rules are completely up to you.    Then there's training mode,  There's unlockable characters, there's even a Break the target's speed mode.
So there's quite a bit to do in this game despite what has been scrapped out.

Difficulty: 5/10
This is personal preference, but Smash brothers isn't a truly difficult game at all.  It really depends on you, and what level you decide to play the game at.
If you put it on hardest difficulty then the game will be extremely difficult, but reward you with a higher score.
and if you lower the difficulty, the lesser your score is.

Truthfully I've only struggled with Metal Mario at best,  Master hand and everyone else are pretty much child's play.

Overall 9.3
Like I said at the intro this is regarded as a great N64 title for a reason, so with that being said this game is definitely worth looking into.

Good job with this review! You made it easy to read and convinced me to play the game. Well, I've played this game before but it's been a couple years. By the time I get around to playing this, it'll feel like I haven't before.

Keep up the great work!

Sorry for the late reply here. I would had posted sooner, but things have been crazy with me for this past week doing things and stuff. Anyways I never got to play the original smash bros. This game got popular to the point, that it become very successful of how it is today. Like there wouldn't be a place that a gamer wouldn't take their wii to play super smash bros. I never got to play the original so at first I didn't know what this game was about until I read it up, and did some research on the game. Another amazing review yet again crash I look forward to your next one.

Though I agree the game inst to difficult and I agree that this game pushed some of the graphical limits the console had. I have played this game many times. Me and one of my friends actually downloaded this game and a emulator at school and vs each other in class. I always used link and he always smashed me with Captain Falcon. But great review, you did a excellent job (:
