A pretty famous meme within the gaming world is how Valve seemingly is unable to count to 3 with any of their IPs. Always stopping after the 2nd installment such as in the case with Portal 2, Team Fortress 2, Left 4 Dead 2 and the most famous example Half Life 2. All games that many are clamoring to see an official sequel to but with everything seemingly having indicated that there never will be.

Well it turns out that may no longer be the case. Recently Valve conceptual artist Tristan Reidford made a tutorial for the Destinations Workshop Tool on the official valve developer community site.

What's interesting about this is that one of the screenshots used showed a folder titled Left 4 Dead 3. The screenshot was removed shortly after being uploaded but many had managed to save it and posted it online for the world to see. It can be seen here.

It's very much possible this could have been a joke on his part. However it could've also been a case of either accidentally leaking or deliberately teasing Left 4 Dead 3. Which if it is might also give some hope to fans of other Valve IPs *cough Half Life 3 confirmed? cough*

So what do you think about this? Excited about the possibility of Left 4 Dead 3? Most importantly, has Valve finally learned how to count?

Let's hope they did finish kindergarten and learned to count to 3. Since L4D is one of my favorite zombie games. So fun concept. Hope this is confirmed L4D3.

I remember watching people stream the past games such as the first one and the second one. I saw the game was very interesting and if I ever got to play the game I would be happy. But as of now I can't considering I don;t have the console to play it. Also I wouldn't be surprised if there are a lot more improvements on the game for the 3rd one to make it more interesting to play. There are people out there who like to play the game. Left 4 dead is definitely one of the more exciting FPS games out there. I prefer it to a lot of the other style games where hiding and sniping seem the safer way to do things.

Instead they are more doom style where you run and gun and blow things up as quickly as possible. Way more fun to play and co-op makes it even better. Glad this series is getting a third game. I can't imagine what they could do if they really ramp up the environment interactivity like some games have now.

Come on, man, I thought this was referring to Half-Life 3. Why do you have to kill my dreams all the time.

Just kidding, Left 4 Dead 3 would also make me happy. Not as happy as a Half-Life 3, but that's never going to happen...

Seriously though, I just think Valve doesn't want any of their games to suffer from sequel decay, and in that respect, if this is true, I hope they don't do that for all their games.

Besides, if they do, they'd have to make Half-life 3, and that would kill one of the most popular memes on the internet.What do we want more?The game, or the meme?

I would love a L4D3, but unfortunately, my computer can barely handle L4D2 with minimum graphics.

As for Half-Life 3, who knows? I thought they'd never make a Shenmue 3... But they is!! XD

Wow, that's really cool, Im glad because I play Left 4 Dead 2 but I've barely played Half Life.
It's been so long, I can barely comprehend what a next Gen Valve game would look like.
It's interesting to think about the new survivors, this is exciting...but I'm sure they'll find a way to take forever to release it.
