Dragon's Revenge for the Genesis is not your average Pinball game. There are enemies that walk around the table top, unique obstacles that may impede or accelerate your progress, and bonus stages with various foes to defeat to achieve your goal. This is a gem that actually made me really enjoy Pinball, which is no easy feat. I'm pretty sure this is a sequel to Dragon's Fury, another similar Pinball title, but don't quote me on that. If nothing else, they're made by the same company, and are equally fantastic titles. On to the review!

Graphics 9 / 10 -- The game looks amazing for the system it runs on. The backgrounds are full of vivid color and detail, and the little enemies that walk along the table are sharp and clear. I was amazed at the intro scene where it shows a woman's face, and then a dragon's head because of how detailed they made it look. Even the dragon's fire breath (and also a bonus stage full of lava) looked fantastic for it's day. I really can't praise these graphics enough. The ball is extremely easy to follow, and all the effects that occur when hitting obstacles around the table are phenomenal.

Sound 9 / 10 -- I loved the sound for this game. The soundtracks were phenomenal, adding a great upbeat feel that keeps you on your guard. The effects were incredible, emulating explosions, the dragon's fire breath, the ping of the ball, and an enemies death cry all extremely well. I'm actually surprised this game sounds this good considering it's only a 16 bit system. They really pushed the Genesis to it's limits with the sound here in my opinion, and another plus is it's the perfect amount, never becoming overwhelming with the amount of sound effects used.

Addictiveness 7 / 10 -- Ok, I may be giving this a bit of a generous score here, but for Pinball, it deserves it. This game is such a joy to play, albeit frustrating at times (I had to abuse save states to actually finish all the way through). I loved all the different bonus stages and how you need to unlock so many "characters" to be allowed to have your final showdown with the dragon. I've never been a fan of Pinball, but this game (and it's predecessor) managed to change that. I'll definitely be playing this game again very soon, this time without the aid of save states for a good challenge.

Depth 5 / 10 -- This is the one area where the game is somewhat lacking. With enough skill and luck, you could breeze through everything this game has to offer in about just over an hour. Thing is, that would be an epic run to pull off, considering how difficult this game is, and the variety of tasks that must be accomplished to complete it. I gave it such an average score because despite how little it has to offer in comparison to other titles, it'll keep you playing for a good long while if you actually intend to get all the way through.

Difficulty 10 / 10 -- This score may be a tad bit steep, but hey, I suck at Pinball. In my course of completing the game, I probably lost my last ball about 30 - 50 times. If not for save states, I would've never come close to finishing. This game seems to really enjoy bouncing the ball in such a way that it will slink off to the sides where you have no chance of saving it, forcing you to lose a ball. It takes some serious skill and aim to keep the ball where you want it, which is hardly what happens in reality. The many obstacles and bonus stages are no walk in the park either, constantly finding ways to throw your ball exactly where you don't want it to go.

Overall 8 / 10 -- I would highly recommend this game to any fan of Pinball, or simply someone who wants to try something new. This game, though challenging, is a great experience that everyone should have at least once.

Wow....I'm not going to lie but this is the weirdest looking game I have ever seen. Its not many I would come across but sure looks interesting. I might give it a try when I can but that depends. This is a really good review. Straight to the point fun to read and of course to draw people to play the game.
