The UK have voted in the referendum and sadly the result is that we will be leaving the EU.
The economy is going to drop, the pound sterling has also dropped to a low not seen since 1985, and importing/etc will also be worse. However there will be positive aspects included in this turn out.
More so, the PM might quit in the end.
Talk about it here.
(deleted a bit of the post to reduce any controversy or such because I don't want horrible stuff happening)

(copied from a post on my board)
I think we should have stayed. Espeiially with the terror threats and such happening we can't be on our own there.

Out of principle, I have to support any nation or state that seeks autonomy. On the other hand, I'm ever so slightly concerned about what this might do to the world economy, and by extension, what kind of effect this may have on our own economy...

To those of us who live outside the UK, and have little knowledge about what this entails, it would be really neat to have some information about this.

Like, what's the prime motivation in wanting to leave, as opposed to staying?

If it's so bad like the OP says, then why did they vote to leave anyway?

Does this affect the US in any way? Many of us are Americans, is there any reason we should care?

I'm not attacking anything, nor do I have a viewpoint. I'm just curious.

I'm not sure on the details the reason a lot of it was omitted I think was because most of my website are from the UK or live in Europe (around 60-70% of people live in EU on that specific website.)
I'm guessing the reason the negative points were highlighted there was because they were the main significant problems with it, but the good thing is freedom of law-creation and regulation in the country, but when ISIS and Saudi Arabia etc. are a threat to the world, you don't really want to be on your own.

This is just dumb. I don't see how they thought this was a good idea because the UK is going to be effected negatively by this.

Sadly I feel like the Netherlands is in the same boat because we have big parties that want to leave the EU. I wouldn't be shocked if there was an EU referendum over here as well, sadly.

I knew this was going to happen, as well...

EDIT: Also wanted to add that because the UK and Holland were close partners in the EU we're gonna be effected as well. And the premier league will also not be the same for foreign players.

With this result Scotland may go independent in the next 5 years as the vast majority voted to stay in the EU (that is what i am hearing across the board but it could change completely) and Northern Ireland may follow suit. We could see the end of the UK as it is right now.

legacyme3 : Well, as far as I'm concerned, it shouldn't affect you. I don't think that Schengen applies to countries outside of Europe, but if it did, it probably would be the only thing you should worry about.

Why you should care? For the TTIP, maybe. There was an ongoing discussion to accept or decline it, and now that the UK has left, they have no say in the discussion and will be exempt from it (again, as far as I know).

And well, I'm receiving information about the impact this event has caused in the stock exchanges. There lies our biggest problem, and that is something that could affect the entire world. If the effect is positive or negative, is up to the experts and time itself will show us the answer.

imamonster : Now that's bad for football I feel sorry for those players now. What will they do?

DylanMcKaig : I feel its already the end of the UK.....I have been watching sky news since 8am this morning not moving not unless in need for the loo. This is a serious problem. Things that worked for the EU for number of years like the NHS and more will be crashing down. And I have a feeling my family and I will have a meeting to see...where to move to our new home. I'm just so devastated with this, because it is a big and serious problem. And when you think things can not get annoying they said of Donald trump. He is in Scotland as we speak which you should know of. What annoyed me the most is how he said the UK vote to leave is a very good thing and saying its a *Historic moment* what a complete utter bull sorry for my language there I am just really upset and angry. Many things are going to break now. And I hope those who voted leave learn their lesson. >.>

My question now is what is going to happen to the young people their education to US? They can't cover up with lies and say everything will be ok because in truth its not.

Trigger warning, upsetting subjects.

The EU would be paid millions every year by the UK. Around 2011, rather than cut our goverments wages or from multi-million sports clubs, the goverment decided to change how it treated mentally ill or handicapped persons in order to reduce the costs of welfare.

The result was to make mentally ill or handicapped people a burden by lowering the compensation/support from the goverment, and to require them to seek work.

A lot of people died because they could not support themselves and refused to become a burden to their friends and family.

I should not have to explain this any further.
This is just one of the reasons to leave the EU, and their anti-humanitarian policies and practices.

So...I have no strong feelings one way or the other.

I don't think this will make them more susceptible to terrorist threats. Actually, with the controversies and crimes that I read about being covered up and censored by the oversensitive EU, I think they may actually be allowed to do something about them now. I mostly hear trash talk about the EU though.

Eniitan : Actually yeah, he is there because of our new America 2 initiative. We are making Scotland and Ireland states of the US. They will be called America 2. :3

A user of this : Ah so that is Trump's plan. Making Scotland the 51st state of America I should have known. Oh well we'll be the best state that ever existed.

m0ssb3rg935 : ''Out of principle, I have to support any nation or state that seeks autonomy.'' I feel like that's a bit of an American mind-set. If the country will be negatively affected, will you still support it out of principle?

The EU isn't perfect but leaving it sure as hell doesn't help.

legacyme3 : I'll try to answer those 3 questions as simply as possible...

Like, what's the prime motivation in wanting to leave, as opposed to staying?

The prime motivation was essentially Outgoings and Immigration.... People didn't like the fact we had to pay to remain in the EU and that our laws were governed by them as well, Also people didn't like the fact that people could easily move to our country due to being part of the EU.

thats really the most basic way to describe it and that really doesn't cover a lot of other reasons people may have... Just think along the lines of making the UK great again..

If it's so bad like the OP says, then why did they vote to leave anyway?

Because they felt it was pointless being in the EU and they don't like immigrants and wasted money or other people deciding the laws... Is the general gist... I also have a view that a lot of people voted to leave just to spite David Cameron honestly.. but thats just mere speculation.

Does this affect the US in any way? Many of us are Americans, is there any reason we should care?
In the short term.... Not really... In the long term who knows.... The whole issue with this is that most of the figures that were for or against leaving the EU were speculative.. they weren't facts... It's hard to say what will happen and what effect it will have anywhere.... But i doubt it will really trouble America that much at all...

Also can i just say the terrorist concerns are stupid.... We've left the EU that is all, We haven't lost allies....

TLR  Let's see what happens in a few months time.. Then we can make better judgements...

Just to clarify in the vote

16-24 voted 75% to remain as part of the EU

the percentages then decrease with age

25-49: 56% Remain
50-64: 44% Remain
65+: 39% Remain

So essentially the people that won't be around to really see what happens are the ones that caused this....

If you want my opinion on this.... i think it's simply because our generation has been bought up around people of different cultures and the older people have failed to adapt to it... but that's just my two cents.
Just to clarify in the vote

16-24 voted 75% to remain as part of the EU

the percentages then decrease with age

25-49: 56% Remain
50-64: 44% Remain
65+: 39% Remain

So essentially the people that won't be around to really see what happens are the ones that caused this....

Tyrian Delirium :

Basically what happened with America too, the votes in the Democratic Primary change with age mostly. It's a shame, it's the people who won't be around 20-30 years from now that alter the future for those of us who will.

Part of me, selfishly wants to take away the right to vote at a certain age, especially with regards to such delicate subjects.

The more I read about this, the more I think it was a mistake for the UK to leave the EU. I think it's going to absolutely destroy what remains of your economy. It might just have the opposite result, but I kind of doubt that will be the case this time.

imamonster : I phrased that poorly last night, so I should probably clarify. By nation or state, I really meant the people thereof. If the majority wants to isolate themselves, then the people should have what they want, but they have to take the good with the bad. If it's a bad decision, then they still got what they asked for.
