So today, I went on Watchmojo's youtube channel to see if any videos they had uploaded recently would interest me, but then I saw a bunch of their videos titles got changed to "HACKED BY OBNOXIOUS AND PEIN twitter.com/poodlecorp." The videos themselves didn't get changed, just the titles. You can find out more about this here: http://techaeris.com/2016/06/22/popular-youtube-channel-watchmojo-hacked/

So what do you think of this? Why do you think they specifically were targeted? Is it just because they're a popular youtube channel, or is it something else?

I was watching WatchMojo last night when I noticed it. Maybe Watchmojo was targeted so the hackers would get attention.
WatchMojo has 12 Million subscribers, but they average 300,000 to 400,000 views per video. It's strange only they were targeted.

It's nothing new, it's basically the same thing that has happened before but only different things being done. A while back Markiplier, JackSepticeye, and a bunch of other big guys were hacked and the hackers posted pictures of all of their YouTube earnings and stuff.

From what I heard, it's not for attention, or anything like that, but just to show to the world something wrong with the system so that it can be fixed, which could actually lead to money.

Earlier in the year or last year, a guy hacked into Google and Google paid him for discovering the bug which they were able to fix.

They were probably just hacked because they were popular. Some people also don't like their top 10s, so that could have been a factor.

I'm just glad that only the titles of the videos were changed though. If the videos were deleted then some of the videos might have never returned (not that I watch them that much, but I don't like seeing videos removed regardless). Wonder how the account was hacked in the first place though.

IZ JUS UH PRANK BR0

Really though, it could be one of two thing: publicity stunt, or political hackivism. I guess they fancy themselves anonymous, or something. Which, btw, are soooo scary. They shut down the Club Penguin servers. WOW, GOOD JOB! *slow claps*

I hate it how when Youtubers get hacked, such as this channel, they don't even acknowledge that it happened sometimes. I mean, really? What's the point of acting like it never happened if millions of people already know it did. They didn't say a thing about the incident. I don't know, it's probably just me being weird.

gamerforlifeforever : Hm. I'm not sure, honestly, but I'd guess that they were targeted specifically, or maybe they just got randomly chosen, I don't know. Either way, it's pretty immature to do something like this, but at the same time, I have to admit that it is pretty hilarious, as long was there was no malicious intent or anything of the like involved in the hacking.

This situation got resolved last month, and Watchmojo's video titles are back to normal, so there's no point in keeping this open any longer.

Furret : Could you please close this thread for me?
