My summer break just started and already I'm bored. The anime I used to watch I finished and most of the new ones I find aren't interesting. New games that I'm playing I get bored of after playing for about an hour and the games that I used to play while I had school are even more boring now.

I finally thought this summer I could step out of my comfort zone and get a job, go to the gym, and go to my friend's house most of the summer, but my brother got a job and I need to watch my sister for most of the day. I know I can exercise from home, but that wouldn't keep me busy very long. And if I did go to the gym when one of my parents was home there would be too many people there for me to go what I wanted.

Does anyone have any ideas of what I could do? I was thinking I could try to play rgr games again, but I know I'd end up getting bored of that too really soon.

earthwarrior : Well, this is just a suggestion, but you could do something that dosn't involve being indoors. When you arent watching your sister, take advantage of the time. There's got to be fun stuff going on around you.

What about movies? There's got to be some you want to watch.

earthwarrior :

Play Terraria.

If you haven't already then you should look it up. It is really fun, I've put in 30 hours and I'm just getting started. The game is simply amazing.

Dark knight of the blackened sun. I am Sword Legion, one of many. My mask is thick, and my armor is strong. All the more necessary in a world such as this. . .

earthwarrior : Even so, a few hours of doing something beats a few hours of doing nothing, especially if you can find something really fun to do during that time.

There's this new place called "Outside" you could try if you wanted. I bet your sister would love to go for a bike ride, or go for walks, or go to a park or just play in the backyard.

Instead of wasting time playing video games, and since you're already bored of them it's obvious you're wasting your time with them, maybe go experience the world. You have literally seen 0% of what the earth has to offer but you're 'bored.'

That's terribly sad and shows people can't wander away from a computer screen for more than 20 minutes.

Go one day without getting online. Test yourself. See what else is out there.

I'm bored this summer too :p. I mean, currently I'm occupied with my new local position, but here's a few things I've done when I was bored.

-Watch random YT videos.
-Drawing (I'm good at drawing and trying to see if I can draw something good takes some of my time).
-Going out somewhere new to eat or hang out.
-Playing a game you haven't touched yet.
-Try to come up with original ideas for a tv show, video game, whatever. That occupies me, especially when I'm in a creative mood.

I realize that some of these may only only help someone like me, but hope I helped .

Not sure where you live, but you could do what I do when I'm bored and try making stuff. My neighbor found a wild bamboo grove and I'm working on making a bow and some arrows. I was also looking into making a Shakuhachi, but that's a lot more complicated than I thought it would be. Take up a musical instrument of some sort. You can get an Irish Tin Whistle for $15 on the internet, and it's not some crappy piece of plastic, either.

m0ssb3rg935 : You suggested an Irish Tin Whistle. Your awesomeness rating just jumped by 100,000,000,000,000...actually you know what, it just broke the awesome scale. (said the Irish guy)

earthwarrior - This will sound too broad, but let it soak in for a few days and think on it: try new things, things you've never tried at all. A few suggestions:

•Try your hand at writing something be it stories, poems, songs, or anything.

•Go for walks - they're more fun than they sound!

•Try getting into art - there's a ton of stuff involved in serious art, more than enough to keep you busy all summer

•Try learning a new programming language - it could prove very useful in the future

•Try making some games and/or applications from scratch

•Learn to play an instrument - I'm partial to drums and you can buy an electric set (they're inferior to acoustic by a long shot, but cheap for a learner) for a decent price if you look in the right places. Also Irish Penny Whistle because awesome. :3

•Expand your knowledge of whatever programming languages you already know

•Find some good books to read - I could suggest a few really good ones personally

•Look on Amazon for some super cheap video games. Even if they turn out bad, it's a new experience and it didn't cost much.

•Look for new music groups to listen to - again, I could list some really good ones

And above all let me stress this: people say when you're younger, especially below eighteen, that you should just have fun. This is a bad plan on how to spend your youth. Yes, have pointless fun while you can, but also use your time to learn to do things that will help you later in life (like learning programming languages, art, design, etc. the need for these are growing rapidly and consistently). Enjoy life and have fun, but also prepare, study and work.

I hope something in this post helps.

earthwarrior : You can rate songs in the music library here at Vizzed for .5 CP and 53 Viz each. You can rate about 2 songs per minute, so you can really rack up the points quick. Then David has a ton of STEAM games for sale at the Market Store.

Also, since you said you had wanted a job,  maybe you're interested in earning gift cards for places like Target, Walmart, and lots of others. I have been using some legit websites and apps for the past year and getting about $30 in gift cards each month. Swagbucks is my favorite one because you can earn points just by running videos in the background while you do other things on the computer. Here is the link for that one if you or anyone else is interested.

You can either buy a painting kit, send crazy vintage postcards to your buddies, do a jigsaw puzzle, refresh your memory with "Homework for grown-ups", get into origami, do a crossword puzzle, list-making, listen to music, watch Netflix (If you have it), read a newspaper, concentration games like chess or any card game, learn to sew/knit, read several novels, have a bubble bath, browse the web, clean up the house, write your own song, have a picnic in your backyard, re-arrange your furniture, make a collage out of old magazines/newspapers, make a list of things you plan on doing before you die, do the laundry, do some baking, learn a new language, do research on subjects you're interested in, create your own website, re-organize your book shelf, get into gardening, play a musical instrument, start a blog, make a list and visit the grocery store, create a scrap book, have a scavenger hunt, have a karaoke night, play with Lego, make jewelry, learn yoga, do calligraphy, have a barbecue, play charades,   or learn a new skill. The possibilities are endless. You can do anything you set your mind to, man. I'm rooting for you. Everyone else is too. Just do your best.
