A master piece by Shinji Mikami, Resident Evil 2 was released at 1998 and it is a second installment in the Resident Evil Series. The game is set in the mid western American mountain after the events of the first Resident Evil. Almost all citizens has turned into zombies thanks to T-virus,a new type of biological weapon by Umbrella.
          There are two main protagonists,Leon s. Kennedy (a rookie cop) and Claire Redfield. (a girl looking for her brother,Chris) Upon arrival to the town,Leon and Claire running away from the infection citizens and make their way to police department. They crashed on the way and both split up and eventually arrive at the police station.
          They discover that police station is abandoned and many was killed. Later Claire realize Chris has left the town to investigate Umbrella in Europe. The two split up again to look for other survivor and flee the town. While searching Claire meets Sherry and Leon encounters Ada Wong. They also find out police chief had been bribed by Umbrella to hide the company experiments evidence. A new experiment includes the development of a new virus, G-virus.Later in the game Annette,mother of sherry and wife of William Birkin (an Umbrella scientist who created G-virus) explains what exactly happened to the town.
          At the end they manage to escaped through a emergency train. After escaping Leon intends to take down Umbrella,while Claire carry on to search for her brother Chris. However Ada survived and ran away with sherry's pendant which contains G-virus.
          The game play was very much same like the first Resident evil game. Players need to check every corner for keys,items and supplies. Each player able to hold up to 8 items at a time and will encounter various zombies and creatures through out the game. Player will progress a little more after each puzzle solving or new key item found. There are more boss fight and new weapon is added like crossbow,while handgun and shotgun allow to upgrade if you get weapon parts.
           At the start of the game you can choose Leon or Claire. Both have different scenario so replay value is very high. The graphic is much better than the first Resident evil and the CGI is nicely done. I still remember the first encounter with 'licker' it scares the sh*t out of me. The environment is very well blended and more details has been added. Not to mention the music is also gives you the eerie feeling.
          There are few new monster added,too bad no more hunter. However they sent a big guy (Mr x or T-00)chasing you around in the police station.  At the end you get to fight him as final boss after he took a bath in a lava pool lol as well in the emergency train,where he dies from a self destruction system explosion.
          The controls is much better than the first game but it would have been better if 180 degrees turn is allow. Shooting and aim is easy too,good thing is the are more enemies in one area which mean i could blast them all at once with my shotgun. Just run around and lure them into one place and aim high with shotgun. Ammo and supplies in this game is more generous and you should be ok even is hard mode.
          As usual when you beat the game you get to save a new file. Depends on how good you play,you will be rewarded by various items and unlock new mini games. Apart from infinite rocket launcher you also get Gatling gun or machine gun. You may also gets to play as The hunk or tofu in a mini game.
          This game is a good example of how a sequel should be. Generally its has all improvement over the first game while it maintain its survival horror theme. Only one problem,they should have a remake of this like they did on resident evil. (Gamecube) By the way i highly recommend this to anyone who love survival horror game. switch off the lights,grab a beer and enjoy the game.
