It's still a developing story at this point in time, so I'll continue updating as time goes on. I linked to a local news site near UCLA.

So, what basically has happened so far is that two people were shot at around 10 am (reportedly "injured", so no fatalities yet) and the shooter is on campus, making the campus go into lockdown, sending the whole city of LA into a tactical alert, and also closing local schools. Emergency services are swarming UCLA, and police are evacuating students and professors.

I'm not a local, but anyone who is: Feel free to post anything regarding the situation and how you're being affected. My thoughts and prayers go out to you.

EDIT: The two victims are being reported dead from multiple news sources now (NOW CONFIRMED). Also, LAPD and UCLA's Twitter accounts are posting updates, so for more info, go there.

EDIT3: The lockdown has been lifted but classes have been cancelled. It was a murder-suicide, and the shooter has been confirmed dead.

That's terrible. I hope they eventually get this sorted out and everyone stays safe. I'm just glad that the city goes to this much of a precaution to keep everyone safe. This is what all areas need to be like. You never know what could happen.

Also, you know the media is a good source when the officer just said 2 people are not confirmed dead yet, but the headline at the bottom says confirmed: 2 dead...

LunarDarkness2 : Yeah, which is why I'm putting 'reportedly' for most of this and referencing the Twitter accounts of the two most involved parties. The media loves stirring things up, which is awful for these kinds of situations.

Strangely enough, news interest for the story quickly died down when the shooter was found out NOT to be a white, Christian male. I wonder why...

For the rest: shooting will continue to happen at an alarming rate as long as there are gun-free zones. While, yes, having more guns MIGHT increase the likelihood of people dying in the crossfire, it would nevertheless decrease violent crimes. 

Just another jerk that had to shoot people. Just what we need...another idiot to make legal gun owners look bad. An armed citizen is an empowered citizen,when are people going to get it?

*Shakes head* How much more of this will go on? Its getting pretty pathetic of what shooters or bombers are doing to poor people more nowadays. Its like crimes like that have been escalating more as each passing year goes on. I just hope someday or whenever things can settle down soon and build on better security somehow. '-'

These shootings happen so often at this point I could go back to any news story, and expect a new one to happen while I'm in the middle of reading the old one. Well maybe not actually that fast, but honestly our Government needs to do something about this, but even the Democratic stated sit in was luxurious, and no one stuck around for long.

What's the purpose of teenagers killing their own kind?

Shooters are cowards.

This is terrible news. So many shootings have been happening lately...I hope nobody else is killed by this guy. Hopefully the police will put a bullet through his head soon enough, and bill the family for the round that did it.

Okay now that I check again he's dead. Murder suicides are the only thing more cowardly than shooting up a place full of unarmed people.

Golly, this is just ridiculous. That's horrible that the guy got in and then killed people. I just don't get it all, and I'm not sure I want to understand why people decide to just randomly shoot up places like UCLA. It's a horrible reality of our society, but one that has to be dealt with. I don't know what the answer is, but we need to find one at some point, because every life is precious.
