Now that I've remade the old item shop into an entire Vizzed Market, now it's very easily possible for me to make new types of items. One of the new types I was thinking is a trophy item where if you win a Vizzed competition, you get a Trophy item which would be named after the competition you won with details. These items would not be available to be traded, sold or bought and they'd basically just be for displaying on your profile but it'd be a great way for users to have some kind of recognition for their accomplishments.

I'd most likely do a few trophies (a graphic for each type) and re-use the image but their actual title would be different.

Here's the competitions which would have a trophy:
-Music Competition
-Speed Run Competition
-High Score Competition
-Screenshot Competition
-Video Competition
-Winter Netplay Tournament
-Spring Netplay Tournament
-Summer Netplay Tournament
-Fall Netplay Tournament
-Minecraft Competition

I'd also make a "trophy cabinet" section on the new user profiles where users could place whichever trophies they're the most proud of and I'd probably even allow users to display maybe 2 or 3 trophies on the thread pages at some point in the future.

Anyways, my question is, would this encourage you guys to participate more in these competitions? And please be honest.

The competitions I host lack a lot of participation and it's to the point where I've considered not hosting them anymore since some of them have literally gone without any participation. I figured I'd make 1 last attempt at trying to do something that would get users interested in participating.

I'd still participate either way, but of course, this makes me want to participate more than before. This is a great idea! I'm not trying to sound rude or selfish when I say this, but I like showing off my accomplishments. It makes me feel proud of myself, since I usually have low self-esteem. XD

If I were a user who didn't participate in competitions and I happened to see this thread, I'd say that having trophies for the winners would make me more willing to participate in a competition. Being able to win jerseys in the TDV and getting my username in the TDV hall of fame made me want to compete in the TDV contests. If a similar thing was done with RGR contests, I definitely think that more users would compete to try and get trophies.

One question I'd like to ask is would you be willing to make trophies for all the users who have won trophies in all the past RGR contests, or would those users not get trophies for their wins?

Yes I would. I mean, I love having trophies, to brag to other users about, and it would be nice to have a list of stuff I accomplished.


No promises that I'll compete in every competition though, sometimes life happens :x.

I think it's an awesome idea. Like was said before, a big incentive of competing in the TdV is the fact there's a hall of fame and jersey's displayed (and tallied in profile). Everyone loves being able to show off their accomplishments whether they admit it or not, and I think it will motivate more people to participate if given easily noticeable recognition. Personally I could see myself competing a few times for the trophies if nothing else, and probably would've sooner if I had realized there was so little competition (I was under the impression I wouldn't have a chance of winning lol).

That sounds awesome!For me, it would be like having a record all all the competitions I ever won.That way, in the future I could look back and remember the two or three times I ever actually won something.

Having a prize would motivate me to new heights. I'd love the added risk vs. reward aspect. I never won much things in my life, so contests would help me get motivated and give me something to care about. I'll vow to participate more, even though I'd prefer serving your majesty instead of competing, mi'lord. Thanks for your suggestion, sir.

If it's a true trophy, awarded only for the winner(s), it would have no effect on me. The reason why I don't participate is simply because I don't have the time for it (after that comes my personal interest for the competition or game in question).

If they were like Playstation trophies or XBox achievements, like a trophy for participating, winning a netplay matchup and a lot more things than just winning the overall competition, I could probably try to participate if I find an interesting competition for a game I like. Since my time would be limited, though, maybe there's not much I can aim for, but trying to get as far as I can would be fun to see.

 I check every month but most of the time it's not games i'm interested in or knowledgeable in at all... That's the only reason i don't participate personally. 

Adding a trophy may make people want to take part a bit more though perhaps,. 

For me ,i always participate in the music competitions ,i am a music lover after all  ,i would sometimes participate in video competitons ,given the chance!

Davideo7 : I would find it fun as it would show people that they are pretty good. Especially in the speedrun tournament since speedrunning is pretty hard.

I'll be honest and say no, it probably wouldn't influence me any more. My problem is that I usually have little time to myself anymore, and most of it is spent doing random stuff. If I do attempt to enter a competition, I'll either panic and rush to try and complete my entry/entries, or procrastinate and throw something together at the end...
However, I do think this is a cool idea, and I'm sure a lot of other people would also agree with that. As I said, it may not influence me, but it may get others interested, and heck, even I wouldn't mind having a trophy to show off and brag about if I did get time to enter.

Probably not Because I think I'll probably lose if I try to participate an event and I am not good at it but it would be awesome if I had won.

Probably not, because I am not the type who needs something that does nothing.

Now, if we got a more tangible benefit to owning a trophy, maybe.
