Me and my IRL friend (Kiah) were talking a few weeks back about the ridicule we get for living somewhere that is supposedly a poor place to live, where everyone's on benefits and such (even know we know the truth!).
I also brought up the fact some people say England is ugly and full of horrible and disgusting people, which isn't true, he agreed with me, that it's how a person is, that matters.
For example: me and him have roughly the same amount of money, which is enough to go by and have a good life without interruptions, and we're both nice/friendly people. We have what we need, and we have extras, and we are nice with it. Now, Kiah's uncle, he has a flash Jaguar and some other expensive things, lives in a large house, doesn't really deserve it, due to his poor attitude/personality.
The same even goes for people in my own year group, there's people who live in what is considered nicer, but aren't as nice. Heck, most of the people I get on with, live within a few miles of me, and are friendlier people, most of the people I know that ridicule where we live, aren't as friendly.
This thread is a little muddled up but I just want to share a little viewpoint that being ridiculed for where you live or where you come from, is probably the lowest form of ridiculment, since that has absolutely nothing to do with how you are. ^^
(I actually think I consider not enough people as my friends. I'm actually friends with most of the people who know how to talk to people and not be judgmental as much.)

Cool story. I don't know anyone who judges another based on where they originate from/live. But I know two countries somewhat hostile towards foreigners. South Korea and China. Granted, not all the people in those countries feel that way, but some senior citizens feel particularly inclined to highlight their loathing of those of Japanese descent. England is a delightful place.

Yeah, lot of people are frowned upon by others if they come from a certain place are region. For example, I live in the Southern Appalachian part of the USA. Lot of people think we are dumb hillbillies and hicks. While that is true for some its not true for everyone of us. Lot of us actually have jobs and degrees. But you know how negative stereotypes can be. I'm from Tennessee so another thing I deal with is oh your one of those racists southerners. People who know me and have gotten to know will tell you that is the farthest thing from the truth. So yeah heckling were somebody is from is not cool.

I have met a lot of British people mostly from when I was at college. A majority of them were very nice. In fact, I'm friends with them. I have met people from Canada, Israel, Russia, Germany, Britain, Nigeria, India, Mexico, Chile, and Japan. All were nice people we all had lots of classes together.

Yeah this happens all over the place. People in my area do it all the time (I live a "prosperous area" apparently). It is annoying for me as well as I put up with them. I previously lived close to an area similarly to yours and the people there are fine for the most part. I think it is daft to dismiss people solely on where they are from.

Thanks for the comments ^^
I can be really muddled sometimes but this seems to hit the point and you're understanding everything fine from what I say!
Never generalise and that is that.
