High school is the turning point in our education. We widen our scope and scale to allow a better understanding of the world around us. It also helps us develop; we are molded from naive, idealistic children to adjacent understanding adolescents. It's a very different time in our short lives. I loved high school. I liked my teachers, the subjects, my friends, everything (except the occasional racism and bullying). However, I was quite naive, detached, and aloof. I didn't grasp the opportunities given to me. As such, I was caught between a rock and a hard place. It was quite puzzling. What was your High school experience like? What would have liked to improve? Thanks for your collaboration. Well, I was home- schooled basically my entire life, I didn't really think much of my education one way or another. Still don't care all that much really, not that I don't see the importance mind you. But quite frankly I'd say it's easy enough to sum it up to just plain loneliness that majority of times. |

Ahh, high school was easily the best time of my life, and if I could, I'd live it all over again. Just the school alone that I went to had a period of a few years while I was there when it was one of the best schools in the country, sandwiched between years of being one of the worst.
Every other teacher was one that you would never forget, the classes were amazing, and the events and clubs were top notch. There were all sorts of epic trips and the events were spectacular. Just a few weeks ago I visited with some friends to go to their annual carnival. There was food, games, rides, and it was a blast. Not to mention that a good chunk of the people I met, as well as just the setting and environment were amazing. Plus we had our own farm and I was part of that program so I always played with animals. High school was a blast. High School had its ups and downs for me. Made some friends which was huge to me, but then family issues made it a pain at the same time. Had a couple of great teachers and a couple of terrible teachers. Courtyard was nice, lots of hidden / blind spots where we could have fun without being supervised. Not something I'd happily talk about but not a bad memory either. Had a couple of great teachers and a couple of terrible teachers. High school was a blur, I don't really remember much about it. Which is odd since it was only a year or 2 ago so take that for what you will. Which is odd since it was only a year or 2 ago so take that for what you will. |

That may be different here for me I think...high school for you would be college for me. I think that's right.well collage wasn't too bad really I had a really good time. It was much better than secondary school. It was hard to talk to people. Well...because I was still recovering from being you know bullied and all. College life wasn't so bad it was pretty cool I a way. Since I did performing arts. I really enjoyed it. |

Here in Norway I did go two years at high school and two years in work to get a diploma. I did that. I loved the second year the most since I made some friends that used to mean so much to me, but we lost contact over the years. Since its 5 years since I was done at high school. Times flies when you only work, but wont have it no other way. |

Going to school was The Boring Adventures if Jacob Brown, I'd go and screw around all day, I had a Girlfriend that actually took down a poster banner for my school from the front entrance balcony, it fell straight down, I'm honestly surprised no one noticed it. She was kind of a jerk, sometimes you happen to hang around someone who just doesn't care. Well, I'm still in high school but so far it's actually been a pretty good experience besides the anxiety of keeping my grades up whenever they threaten to be too low. But I've been making wonderful friends and despite not always exactly being caught up with them I still consider them my friends. |

I'm still in high school.
I guess I like it. Besides the anxiety. And depression. And loneliness. And constant feeling of dread while i'm there. But the library lets you borrow books for free as long as you want, which is really nice. I guess I like it. Besides the anxiety. And depression. And loneliness. High school was kind of a roller coaster of events for me when I went. For the first two years I was bullied so due to that I ended up joining my school's ROTC (Reserve Officer Training Corps) program and lost a lot of weight doing all the physical training everyday. So come junior year I was a lot skinnier than I was the past two years and the bulling stopped mostly due to that but also cause I ended up hanging out with a For the first two years I was bullied so due to that I ended up joining my school's ROTC (Reserve Officer Training Corps) program and lost a lot of weight doing all the physical training everyday. pennylessz : I am kind of curious about where you are now with the screwing around and not paying attention. Are you still finding success with your career? What's the story there?
School for me was fine. I went, I played soccer and football. I was on the Quizbowl team and we did some actual winning. I did kick a field goal in overtime against our cross-town rival for Homecoming and we won the game. I got my face on the front page of the local newspaper and there was a quick story about what happened. That was a highlight. My calculus professor came over and put a chair up for my foot and patted my calf. He's big on the football team and he follows them closely. Everyone laughed. I went to school from 1996-2000 and I still keep track of several friends from high school. I enjoyed the socialization. It was fun to meet a bunch of new people and see who's cool and what we all liked together. I also did the work, I learned about myself, I grew up and developed and became a good person, for the most part, and I'm happy where I am now. I went to a school that was okay with education and I feel like my positive attitude and work ethic is why I excelled. I had fun, I did well, and it was a good time. But things are way better now. High school is, looking back, one of the easiest things I've ever done. The real world is way harder. School for me was fine. I went, I played soccer and football. High school for the most part was wonderful for me. Now I did get into a few fights but i was never the one who started them. I made a lot of friends. I also had good teachers, except for one and she hated me. I don't know why cause I never caused problems and I did my work but oh well. I was also active in my school's FCA and Environmental Clubs. So other then a few minor incidents. It was a great time for me. I was so glad that common core was not around when I was there and got to chose my classes on what i was going to potentially major in college. Lot of my classes helped prepare me for college. |

High school was a fairly humdrum experience for me. I did very well grade wise, but I didn't find the environment of the school to be intellectually supportive and I often found myself falling a All of that combined with the radioactive slop they served for lunch (which is common for the majority of high schools these days) made high school a pretty dreary experience for me. I was able to get through it thanks to making some good friends along the way and taking challenging classes I enjoyed (classes that had passionate, captivating teachers which always makes the class more enjoyable if you ask me). I like college a lot more though. Right now I am in a 2 year community college (planning to transfer to a 4 year university) and I'm able to create a schedule that works for me (I'm able to take all 5 of my classes for this semester on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday which is really nice because I can use Tuesday and Thursday however I see fit). zanderlex : You must have gone to a good school. My school had all those things but nothing I would call amazing.
And I'm going to say that college, not high school, is really the big deal with education. In high school, you're still spoon-fed classes, you're still held the standard of homework and teaches check up on you and see if you're okay and generally play a part in making sure the work and effort gets done. College is where things change. Now you're doing all your own scheduling, you're building your own path, and you're able to go or not go to class and generally the teachers don't care if you don't show up. They help when you ask but they have hundreds of students, or more, and certainly many more than high school teachers. My high school adventure was fine. I played football and soccer and I was on the quizbowl team. I had friends that I still see fairly regularly, 17 years later, and I feel like I did some growing up. My maturation process came after high school, when I was in the Marines, but the education system didn't fail me. I learned a lot, I enjoyed my classes, I had good teachers and I built relationships with them too. It was fine. I wouldn't go do it over again because real life is way better. I have much more freedom and I control my own destiny. And I'm going to say that college, not high school, is really the big deal with education. I have much more freedom and I control my own destiny. |

Given the fact I haven't finished it, I would say it's very boring. There isn't much challenge besides the CE classes I take to get college credit which is only 1 so yeah. |

I really enjoyed high school and I'm not quite sure why since it was the most stressful time of my life yet. The program I entered could be quite cruel at times and nothing was good enough to the teachers, not even perfection. Personally I feel like the college I entered three years ago is way easier than my high school was. Despite it being really stressful I also had lots of fun with my classmates. Making friends was the best part of high school. |

I don't know man, it was kind of a mess.
My grades were pretty much on point, and my friends were all cool, but jesus christ was I a wreck. Now granted, I still am, but it was more...concentrated. I just didn't get the whole adolescence thing. It was a disaster area beyond belief. At least now I've mostly grown out of that and just don't give a crap as part of my normal habit. But in high school, man, it got to me. Now, there are things I want back, like playing in the band. When I moved out, I realized what "big fish in a small pond" meant. I didn't make anything, and my trombone is just sitting in my closet right now, with no bright future in sight for at least a few months. I regret that, and I kind of want that part back. It's not all bad, but I was glad to leave it behind. My grades were pretty much on point, and my friends were all cool, but jesus christ was I a wreck. No,I hated school. I thought all of the other students were buttholes and I would pray a nuke or a bomb would destroy my school honestly. That is also where the vile and combative part of my personality was born. |
