This post will basically be to share some spoilers, tips, hints, & advice for this game for those who are new to the game or those who are familiar with it but would like a quick and easy run through for game play. Majority of the information shared in this post will be from my own personal years of experience and trial & error with this game.

My first suggestion is one that will require you to have literally HOURS of patience and determination. As it goes, you will progress through this game quite slowly in the beginning under certain restrictions or limitations. However, I would suggest that you utilize quite a bit of time, depending on how well you manage this process, to "boost" yourself in the very beginning of the game, which will make a lot of things so much quicker and easier throughout the game. You will always start at the Sci-lab on a class field trip where you will be given a basic tutorial on "Virus Busting", or otherwise, the fighting mechanics of this game. You use battle chips in a custom battle folder, which are bits of data for different types of attacks or other types of maneuvers that your "Navi" (Megaman) can perform during battle. There are a few different ways to obtain different types of chips including as rewards for random virus battles or boss navi battles which will sometimes give you that Boss Navi's chip, by purchasing them from various "shops" in the real world and the cyber world alike, by entering various lottery ticket numbers in the chip lotto machine at Higby's shop once you reach the point of the game that his shop is open, by trading chips for other chips in the chip trader machines in different areas throughout the game, or even by trading chips with friends who also have this game via a link cable connection.

However, my suggestion is to spend a LOT of time at the very beginning of the game exploring your home town searching for different electronic devices that you are able to "Jack-In" to with your PET, which sends your Navi into the cyberworld area of that electronic device. Run around and fight weaker virus battles for a while, maybe not all in one sitting or in the same day, but anywhere from 2-3 hours a day for about 3 or 4 days before you begin to progress through the actual storyline. I KNOW this sounds tedious and boring but I assure you that this will benefit you in various ways that will make it absolutely worth it in the long run. It will provide you with tons of practice and experience against different types of viruses, in which you will learn something the game doesn't necessarily teach you itself; The process of anticipation and learning to read the opponent's movement patterns in a battle and a certain degree of advanced virus busting instincts which can be vital in various critical situations later on in the game. You will also possibly obtain TONS of different types of battle chips, zenny, and even bug frags if you destroy enemies with counter attacks just as they are launching an attack. As mentioned previously, whatever battle chips you acquire that you do not wish to use yourself, can always  be traded for other chips at chip trader machines, while some may be needed as requirements to trade or give other Non-player characters throughout the game in the process of completing some of the Sci-Lab "Jobs" as posted on it's Job BBS, and some are required to be used together in certain ways that form "Program Advances" that create a more powerful combination attack. As for the Zenny and Bugfrags, you can NEVER have enough or too much of either of those, and can always be used to acquire other chips from other shops and traders throughout the game. Too many times have I went to a shop or trader and saw many chips I wanted being offered and I've not had enough Zenny or Bugfrags to get them at the time, and then I end up having to go out and acquire them at that time. Either way you look at it, there will be SOME POINT in the game that you will have to spend some time going out gathering these kinds of things in order to purchase certain chips or other usable items that you will want or need throughout the game. So you can either accumulate a ton of this stuff at the beginning of the game ahead of time, or you can be that guy that waits until the last minute to do so. However, It has been my experience that there are often times that you wait until the last minute to go out and gather this stuff when you need it as opposed to before you realize you need more of it, and it delays you from progressing with the story line and then you can often lose track of what you were actually doing at the time when you had to stop what you were doing to take time out of actually playing the game and go searching and gathering this stuff. This is why I say it is easier, and safer, while maybe not always necessarily quicker, to just go ahead and acquire a surplus of these items beforehand to give yourself a good headstart and reduce the potential amount of setbacks and delays on playing straight through the game itself.
