I thought this might be a good/interesting idea. I tend to rant on a lot of things and I thought I might post some rants because why not? Sometimes, they're interesting to read. If you have a topic you'd like me to rant about, feel free to give a suggestion. I will do at least 3 rants in these kinds of threads. Here we go.

NOTE: The examples I use NEVER happened. They are just examples of a scenario that could but probably won't happen.

Rant #1 - Phones

So I assume most of us have a cell phone, right? It's a very useful device, you can check social media and contact people whenever you want, play games, do whatever. The biggest issue I see most of the time with cell phones is how addicted people are. Now, I won't hide and say I'm not addicted to my computer, everyone is addicted to something. However, when your life is at stake, you need to discard the addictiveness. Yeah, I'm talking about texting and driving. No matter how many times we warn people, they're still going to do it. Dumb choices lead to catastrophe, but people won't listen. It's not like the text is going to dissapear forever, just wait until you get to a right time to where you can check it. Don't kill yourself over a phone. This is just going to go on forever because there's so many stupid people in the world who don't listen to these simple instructions.

Rant #2 - Hiding details for no valid reason

I went over a bit of this in my thread about what was going on with my life about a month ago, so I won't dwell on this too long. Whenever you want the reason to an action that someone does, but they hide that reason for no reason. Here's an example:

I want to know why I have to make my bed when it's going to become the same way whenever I wake up. My mom says "Because I said so. Just do it."

What kind of crappy reasoning is that? I'm sorry, but I can't take that. We all have a thing that ticks us off the most, and for me, that's one of them. It's stupid.

Rant #3 - Automatic Judging of people

This has happened to me a lot, so I'm kind of used to it now, but it still ticks me off. Here's a great example:

I'm part of the FNAF fandom, but because of most of the people in the fandom, it makes me an immature 12 year old. Yeah, that makes a whole lot of sense, guys. People need to learn that not everyone is the same, just because this group of people does something, it doesn't mean the other group of people will do something.

That's it for these rants. Leave some comments or suggestions if you'd like. Thanks for reading!

There is a philosophy called stoicism that I enjoy that teaches you can't control things around you and your emotions only come from your reactions, so you can control those emotions.  Showing anger, dislike, or frustration, or ranting is actually offensive to your self-control and your personality because you're losing the internal battle.

This is how I see what you talked about:

1.  Phones.  It's not the phones that are addicting, it's the people that feel compelled to constantly look at their phones and see what they're doing.  Or it's not strong enough legislation against people who text and drive and pose a threat to other drivers and themselves.  Phones, if used correctly, are outstanding tools that allow communication with others.  My phone calls and texts people so I can communicate, update, and make changes to schedules like childcare, dinner plans, etc.  It's not the phones, it's the people.  If you choose to be angry, be angry with the people who are undisciplined.

2.  Hiding Details: Your mom may not have a great reason outside she is teaching you to clean up after yourself.  But she knows or suspects that answer won't be helpful.  She's also upset you're questioning everything she says.  There's nothing wrong with that but your mother feels her being your mother is enough to issue an instruction and you simply follow it.  That's how she's sees it.

3.  Judging:  I have no idea what you're talking about.  Are you saying people will see you as immature because you like FNAF and you're twelve because other people's actions make them immature?  That makes no sense.  You are an individual and your actions speak for yourself.  Anyone who judges you automatically loses any regard for themselves.  You don't need to worry about their opinion.  BUT..... if you're the kind of 12 year old who asks why he has to make his bed (And not simply accepting responsibility and doing it), that makes me think, yeah, maybe you are immature.  You don't see the intrinsic value in making your bed, so how are you a mature 12 year old?

Now, I'm not attacking you.  Go back and read what I said, without your emotions coming into play, and try to see things from my point of view.  That's the actual first step of maturity: Being empathetic.

PLEAAAAASE rant about people (parents, teachers, whatever) complaining about how you're apparently not going or working fast enough and need to 'pick up the pace'. That annoys me SOOO much like you have no idea. I'd be eating breakfast at my own speed because I'm tired, I just woke up and I'm grumpy, and SOMEONE would tell me to 'speed it up or we'll be here all day'. Like LET ME BE GOSH.

Whenever someone says that to me I instantly dislike them for the entire day. I'd even go at a slower pace on purpose just to piss them off because they ruined my mood.

Everyone has that one thing they can't stand and that's it for me.

Ghostbear1111 :

Those were just examples I thought of in my head. None of them actually happened, heh. And I was getting angry at the people using the phones, not the phones themselves.

I'm not making these threads to rage at people, I just thought it would be fun to express myself and my opinions from time to time. Also, I'm 15, not 12.

And, yeah, I've been looked at as an immature "12 year old" because I like FNAF before. Internet, y'know?

Well, not everyone in the world is going to use their mind and common sense, and you can't FORCE them to (but you can definitely make laws and posters to try to prevent it), so if they get in a car crash, then yes it's sad, but it was their part if they were texting and driving.

I think your mom wants you to make your bed because that's called being neat and helps your room look good (and if you kept your room clean, I'm sure your parents would at least be happy with you for that). Besides, it only takes a minute or two to make the bed. I don't really mind not being told why to do something if it's small. If it's something major then that's a different story...

Automatic judging bugs me too, but hey, h8ers gonna h8, and don't lie, you've automatically judged people too. It can actually be helpful at times to let you know what to expect and therefore prepare yourself, but people just saying that they think you're that and never changing their mindset no matter what you do is the annoying part.

One of the things that annoys me is when there's a new stupid rule introduced that I think is arbitrary. I'll still follow it (not very willingly), and try to deal with it, but still :c.

1. In regards to what you said about phones, that's not really a problem with phones themselves. It's people choosing to be careless thinking they're an exception to the rule. So I would say the blame lies on the person doing so, not the phones. You might've meant it that way too but titling the rant "phones" gives the wrong impression. We all do unhealthy things so to criticize it on that basis seems wrong when we're guilty of it ourselves. My problem lies more in how it can directly endanger other people too. That's why it should be discouraged.

2. The thing about making your bed is that yes it's stupid. I don't like doing it either since I'm a messy sleeper thus it doesn't matter how many times I make it it'll be completely undone the next day. But I assume you live with your mom like I do so if you can't change her mind all you can do is suck it up and do what she says. She's the one paying the bills so if she wants you to make your bed you should do it. It's a pretty minor thing to do anyway so why spend more time  and energy arguing about it than it would take to just actually do it? The reason for doing it is to keep your room looking orderly and it can be a good thing to have structure like that in your daily routine, not to mention it'll help your relationship with your mom. Pick your battles carefully. Save the arguing for stuff that actually matter.

3. Judging people is something that we've all done it and still are. It's part of being human. Whether we realize it or not we judge others constantly. Some more than others but we still all do it to some extent to say only others do it (not saying you meant it that way) is hypocritical. So I don't see the point in ranting about it. In this particular case one could even argue there is basis because a large chunk of people in the fandom do fall under the stereotype. In that case it's only to be expected that people have somewhat of a prejudice. Seems more like you venting in stead of making an actual point. If it bothers you, try doing something to actually change people's mind by not acting like the stereotype would. In the end that's not going to work for everyone so it's just something you going to have to put up with. They're the ones making themselves look stupid in that case. But it seems like the people in the fandom who do act that way are to blame for how people perceive it as well.

I want to reply to the FNAF thing.

You say '' because of most of the people in the fandom, it makes me an immature 12 year old. '' You then go on to say ''People need to learn that not everyone is the same,''
You just said that most people are like that. So isn't it logical that people will think that you're the same quicker than if most of the people in the fandom aren't like that? I'm not condoning it or anything but its just a point I wanted to make after reading your thread.

Agree with zlinq on the other fnaf stuff.

No offense or disrespect or anything like that, btw.

Zlinqx :
imamonster :

Please read the note I put at the beginning of the thread.

Also, I see rants as a chance to let your feelings out, and just basically, speak your mind. So yeah, it kind of is like venting. I don't see a problem with it.

Believe me, I've tried to change people's minds before about the FNAF thing, but it doesn't work, so I've stopped. You know how ignorant the internet can get. Also, I titled it phones because phones were related to the topic, not that I was angry at the phones themselves. I even said that phones are awesome in the thread.

imamonster :

When I say "people", I literally mean the actual group of people who automatically assume that I'm not worth their time to talk to or care about at all because I like FNAF.

Zlinqx :

I never said I didn't judge people, although I probably should have put that we all do. But I mean the people that see you once and automatically assume you are a bad person or something and never bother to look or speak to you.

Here's a good example:

This person must be a terrorist because they are Muslim.

That kind of judging ^

LunarDarkness2 : I don't agree with that really being applicable in this situation. For one a very large chunk of people (you even seemed to acknowledge it by saying "most" in your post) do seem to fit the stereotype people have for FNaF fans. So it makes sense that people will expect you to be the same. The same isn't really the case with muslims being terrorists. We're talking less than 1% of all muslims in the world. A statement like that would misrepresent not just individual muslims but the muslim population on average as well. While a statement saying FNaF fans are immature while of course not true for everyone seems to generally hold more truth.

It's comparable to saying you're being racist for assuming someone who said he's from India (a country that consists to the vast majority of hindus) to be hindu until proven otherwise. Sure ideally you shouldn't assume things about that person or anyone else. But in a case like that can you really blame them for thinking that?

Furthermore it's also different in terms of seriousness. With people assuming a FNaF fan is immature. Sure it's annoying but nothing more. 99.9% of the time that's not going to lead to any severe real life consequences for the people part of the fandom (and if it did it would have a very severe reaction). No one is going to stop fans of the series from playing/discussing FNaF anyway even if they may hold a prejudice towards fans. It's more of a case of people hiding behind the anonymity the internet allows for and probably wouldn't ever do the same in real life. You're also choosing to be part of that fandom as being a fan of a series does not automatically make you part of the fandom. Being a fan of something and being part of a fandom is two separate things.

This is also going into a bit my own thoughts on the matter but I figured it would be relevant. Fandoms in general tend to have a risk of bringing bad things with them. When everyone is a part of a community where they all like one particular thing it creates a sense of belonging which is often times why people become part of them. But when no one is there to offer a differing viewpoint it also creates a sort of circlejerk. Often turning into fanaticism about the thing the fandom is about. Thus also often leading to why people part of several fandoms (not just FNaF but others like MLP, Steven Universe etc.) seem immature and unaccepting of other opinions. Because that's quite often times what a fandom attracts. In particular hugely popular fandoms like FNaF. Again leading to my point to why it's not weird that people may assume.

Religion is something more personal and a lot of people who genuinely believe all muslims are terrorists go out of their way to try and punish muslims living in the western world because of that trying to take away their religion. Affecting their entire lives. When there really is no  reason to. Besides the stereotype holding much less ground, it's also something that's on an entirely different level in terms of the effects it has.

Zlinqx :

But since I find it annoying, I can rant about it if I want, right? ;P

LunarDarkness2 : I misunderstood, then. I pretty much agree with zlinq on the rest of this.

EDIT: Change my whole post.

Why don't you rant about people who try and group others together, and judge them unfairly like if they're not human, and the same kind of moronic person? (Fanbases, Autistic people, LGBT, Millennials, Ethnic groups, Religions, etc.) .

Regarding FNAF, even though I'm not particularly a fan, I can see where you're coming from. It's annoying to like something and get hated for liking it. I believe people like this are referred to as "fan haters" or trolls. I can relate, seeing as the Sonic fanbase, of which I currently belong to, also gets tons of hate from people who don't play it, with those people assuming it's the world of unnecessary fan fiction and characters, with an insipid fanbase. You, like the other FNAF fans, are probably just like minded and  optimistic people who find interest in peculiar things. You're a good kid, don't let the haters get you.

LunarDarkness2 : No one's stopping you as long as you follow the site rules. So if it's what you want to do then go for it. But you open yourself up for people's reactions too. All things considered it seems kind of counter productive to me. But that's is just me talking.

Ohhh. Well, you can think that, lol. I just find it as a way to either express myself or let out some anger. It helps.
