Do you read the Pokemon manga? I read one volume once and I wasn't really much of a fan of it. I would read them more but each volume is really expensive so id rather stick with the anime and the games for my share of Pokemon fun. What about you though? Do you read the anime and what are your thoughts on it?

I'm not completely caught up with it. However I have read a bunch of chapters back in the day, and I have recently asked my family for the box sets, which are cheaper than buying individually, for certain occasions. Personally I highly enjoyed what I read from it. It's so much darker than the anime and at some points even more so than the games. The characters are also more interesting than the anime characters and I can't help but enjoy the manga more than any other thing Pokémon related. (Also I may or may not wish for it to be animated. I know it will never happen since Pokémon is for kids and this isn't that kid friendly but a girl can still hope). But yeah, overall I love the manga.

Its funny...I never actually read the manga for pokemon. I just went off the bat and watched the anime when I was really young. I might have considered it a few years back, but as of now, I'm completely burnt out on Pokémon altogether. The games, the anime, the manga, all of it. Pokémon could be erased from existence the next few years (at least) and I would not miss it. I'm not saying it's not enjoyable, I've just had my fill for the time being.

I haven't read it in a while, but I think I read up to around halfway through the Black and White saga? It was actually really entertaining and if I get the chance I'd gladly consider catching up and checking out the X/Y saga.
Funny enough, I actually enjoy it more than the anime. More diverse set of characters since it follows the games more.

Well there is more than one manga. The main Pokemon Adventures manga I used to read quite regularly though. I still pick it up sometimes if I'm bored. It has a pretty wide cast of characters and a good story/character development with the protagonist actually changing each arc. It's more reminiscent of the games than it is the anime but really it's mostly separate from both.

I suppose precisely because it is a manga they can take risks they wouldn't dare in the anime due to fearing they will alienate their fanbase, like delving into darker subject matters. I find it much more interesting compared to the anime which I find to be very predictable with it mostly following the same trend each season. I've been hoping for quite some time that they would make an anime adaptation but that will most likely never see the light of the day.
