Hey guys its eni here. I'm not in a good mood today since I was before it switched. I was playing pokemon touhou merry I got passed the places I needed too recorded music, defeat the pokemon league, the champion, and caught all of the 3 legendary pokemon which was annoying to do. Just as I was about to save the game. For some reason my desktop computer screen went blank. I panicked for a min there it came up and the game wasn't showing. So I decided to load it up again and then....it took me back to when I was training for the pokemon league so I now have to redo EVERYTHING AGAIN! I was fuming a lot so I decided to go and cool down by watching things on my laptop. It didn't really help much but talking to my friends did help me to calm down a little. I know I can't glue it out and stay mad and angry about it forever. So I am going to well redo the stuff in the matter of hours. I don't care I'll go to bed late if I have too to get back to where I was. >.>

So guys have you had this happen to you before? If so how did it happen and how upset were you? How did you deal with the problem?

Yes I have.

One time my FIFA career mode where I put a stupid amount of time in to got corrupted, needless to say I was pretty pissed off.

I also had a pokemon silver save corrupted, and my DBZ Budokai Tenkaichi 2 save got corrupted, as well.

As far as I remember the only game file that I've ever had corrupted was Mario and Luigi: Partners in Time, I put a lot of time into that one so it stung when I turned it on to see it was corrupted. In terms of how it happened. I'm not even sure. I turned it on one day and it said my file was corrupted and that it was deleted. Never played it again honestly. Seeing all my time on the game just disappear disheartened me. It wouldn't have been so bad if I had finished the game, but nope.

This has happened to me a couple times.
The first was during one of my play throughs of Final Fantasy 7 on the original PlayStation 1. Luckily it wasn't my first time through or me trying to accomplish anything special, just playing for the nostalgia. It was still frustrating though, making it to almost the third disc and trying to play one day and it just said "corrupted save file, please delete." As for how or why, I have no clue. It's the only time on that system it's ever happened to me.
As for the other time, I was borrowing a friend's Xbox (original) to play Fable and a couple other exclusives. After I finished Fable and put some time into the other games, I tried to re-load the Fable save to just kill things therapeutically, and it had been corrupted somehow. Once again, it at least happened at a fortunate time, but was still aggravating. And once again, I have no indication of what may have caused the problem.
As for what I did because of it, I just quit both games for a long while and came back to play again later.
Other than that I've had files be corrupted from using a GameShark or something similar, but that's obviously my own fault and was prepared for it going in lol. It was definitely fun playing through Final Fantasy 7 with Sephiroth from the flashback in Nibelheim in my party almost the whole game

That only happened once before for me for a Pokemon game but it didn't really bother me. I was pretty deep into the game but all that meant was more playing, so I started a new game and started over, I was fine with it.

This happened to me on my PS2 with a Shrek game. I can't remember the name of the game, but it was based on the second Shrek movie. You know, I loved that game and thought it was so great...until I had to play through all of the first level three times and most of the second level twice. Then it became boring as you might expect. To top it off, it turned out that the disc wouldn't play past that point in the second level anyway, so I never got to play the rest of the game despite the effort of playing it so many times.

Also, this is why I always made two copies of each save on the old systems. I don't remember if I failed to with Shrek or what.

Yep. It happened to me with S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Shadow of Chernobyl, a good FPS released for PC. The last time I played and saved my progress, it was last summer when I was working at the camp. After a rough day, I played a bit of this game and saved. And after that job done, I decided to carry on. My surprise when I tried to load my save. The game literally crashed everytime I loaded that save. I couldn't do anything and I didn't feel like restarting from the beginning. So I uninstalled the game. Hopefully someday, I'll decide to replay it and beat it with no problem.

This has happened to me a bunch of times. Usually when I play a creative/sandbox game, I have some occasions where when I save, the game tends to freeze on me while saving it, and you can't turn off the console while saving, but I had no choice but to reset it and caused the save file to be corrupt and can't load, this is why I have 2 of the same saves just in case something like this happens.

There's losing one save file.... and then there's losing most of them.
It was years ago now, but I had a gamecube memory card corrupt on me. Deleted my chao garden, deleted my Super Mario Sunshine progress... it was the largest Memory card so I lost a LOT of data that day. Very very little survived that monster of a corruption. I think the only ones that did were Paper Mario and a couple of games that I rented...

I surprisingly didn't have any natural corruptions and hopefully it doesn't start out on a bad time, though I can re-call having my save corrupted on Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Impact. (Even if it was mostly my fault,) I played throughout the game on the PSP emulator: PPSSPP, and managed to complete it though when I actually got a PSP, I wanted to copy the save over. That didn't go well since the time I played the PPSSPP emulator, it didn't fully support PSP save transfers, so it completely corrupted the save on both the PSP and the emulator. I unfortunately never have completed the game, and probably never will after all, it took me 30 hours to get to where I was.

Nexorla : That's really sad. Yeah when something like that happens. Its hard for a gamer to go back to that game replay and redo everything of the sort. It just puts you down a lot when it happens.....

imamonster : Sorry to hear about that buddy I'm sure a lot of work when into that game. :/

Mynamescox44 : Oh wow that must had been very rough for you back when that happened. Sorry about that. Did you eventually go things done when you got back to playing them? '-'

Eirinn : Oh dear that must had stung a lot. To redo annoying levels that were either hard or annoying right?

Laian : Sorry about that big bro. It takes a lot of effort to go back to games that were corrupted right? Its what ever gamer doesn't want to feel on. And be having frustrated about it as well...

IgorBird122 : Yeah I usually do that with other games but with a pokemon game you can't as you know. :/

Gamin'Gal : That's just sad. And the one I lost was losing most of them. I'm also gonna have to go and recapture touhous I caught during that time as well..sorry to hear about your experience.

Andrewl3779 : Oh wow that must had felt pretty hard on you. And it took you 30 hours?! Yeah that I felt would had been really hard. Sorry about that. '-'

Eniitan : I definitely went back to play them again. But at the time I wasn't trying to accomplish anything special and had already beat both games at one point before it happened, so it wasn't too bad. Now that I think about it, I have a corrupted save file on my PS3, but I have no idea what game it is. It isn't anything that I still own, so it must be from something I rented a few years ago. It won't let me delete the file or anything (it tries but sits in the deletion screen forever), so I just ignore it now. I just pray the corruption never spreads.

Spider-Man 3 (PS3) had a big problem about it's auto saving. Every 3 minutes or so, it would auto save. Sometimes when you paused the game, it would save. When you quit the game, it may have been saving, so you had to wait at the pause screen for it to stop saving and then you quit. The game would corrupt if you quit while it was saving. I quit while it was saving once and the save file corrupted.

Well it wasn't that they were hard or annoying, just that after playing nothing but the same level and a half over and over just to lose progress and start over due to a bad save or disc error was frustrating and very boring. The hardest (and most frustrating) part was that it was a 3D platformer with various optional objectives scattered around each level, so going through all that extra work for nothing was frustrating.

Oh, man, that's pretty bad... At least it was on the emulator, so it's not like you had to do every single thing from the beginning of the game (unless you did, I'm not sure about that game, or where it took you back to. XD).

I've had this happen to me quite a bit. Most notably are the older Legend of Zelda games. For some reason, every LoZ game that I've ever owned that was on a cartridge, at some point it would just erase all the files, for no apparent reason. Never knew why. It sucks when you just beat the super annoying Water Temple in Ocarina of Time, save the game, go to sleep, wake up, turn on the game, and see all the files are empty... But it happens... And it's never a good feeling.

Luckily, I have those on Gamecube (Yes, I still play Gamecube. XD) now, and I haven't had any problems with my Gamecube's memory card.

Mynamescox44 : Ah I see. Things don't always go the way we expect then especially with games....

BestGamer24 : That's the weirdest corruption I've ever heard in a way. Games like that shouldn't get corrupted with the auto save like that. '-'

Eirinn : Yeah the motivation get lost because you have to redo it again and get tired of it. So I can understand that. :/

Really? Again? : I'm going to tell you what I told eirinn in pm long ago with this same game I had corruption with it but forgot. I had 2 that made me to start from the beginning again. And another one. So it took months before I got back to playing the game. With this corruption I got lucky only most of my stuff got erased. I managed to finally get back to where I was not so long ago like 2 hours ago. I worked so hard that I am now taking a break I'll get back to it once I am ready.

Now with your reply sorry to hear about it. The worst ones has to be when you have to start from the beginning again. That's some good news to do with the gamecube.

When I was younger I had a couple games do that but it was never a big deal But a year ago my ps2 memory card got corrupted so I was very sad I spend 80 hours on Sonic Heroes over 500 hours on all the dragon ball z games and on 1 of them I spent 2 years of playing the game every day and just finally  just got the 7 Dragon Balls for the first time. About 300 on kingdom hearts 1 and 2 so I was very sad I had just beat the 1st kingdom hearts after years and years of playing it off and on I have made very little progress getting stuff back on any ps2 games

My copy of Spongebob Squarepants: Lights, Camera, Pants, had that happen with my original save file. Fortunately I had only just started playing then, so it only freaked me out a bit since I had never seen it before. That same game now has glitchy sound, so I guess that's what I get for buying a used copy.

Too many times too count! But, the worst time was when my brother accidentally erased every single saved game on my PS3.I was mad for a while sure, but I always bounce back.I'm still trying to catch up on my previous progress on some of those games though.
