I've made it so that you can only earn CP and Viz for a contribution action if the required amount of time has passed since you last did the action. So if an action requires a 30 second gap and you do it back to back with a gap of 20 seconds, you wont get CP or Viz but if the gap is 30 seconds or more, you'll get the Viz and CP.

This will be great for preventing potential CP abusers from ranking in the Tour de Vizzed but this goes beyond the TdV. I think it'll overall increase the quality a little of some of the CP actions because it forces users to take their time preventing them from doing a rushed job at these various actions.

This is basically in an experimental phase so I'll be making lots of adjustments based on feedback and from what I experience myself so be sure to give me as much of it as possible. Keep in mind that users can still do these actions within the time gap but they just wont get the payout.

Here are the CP actions with active time requirements:

Some of these actions of course wont need a gap requirement.

If anyone has any suggestions or feedback, be sure to let me know.

Nice to see some adjustments being made. I don't think I'll be massively affected by this, but it will surely bring more quality instead of quantity.

For the actions that could affect me and don't have a time assigned, here's my opinion:

Game Adding: I sometimes add two or three games at the same time, simply because it's the same game on a different port. Other than that, it can take me like two to five minutes to add another one, since I proceed to add all the content and graphics right after adding it. I would be happy with any time gap you place there, but my fellow system managers should also have a say.

Game Content: I'm guessing this action is directed towards every time we open/close the Edit Page. If that's so, once again, I'm happy with any time gap we're imposed. It does take a bit of time to do the other actions related to it, so no big deal.

Graphic Adding: Now, this will have some discussion. Within the same game, adding graphics fast is easy. I think I'm below 20 seconds between each graphic. I would be happy with a gap of 20-25 seconds, but that's all. It takes me a great chunk of time to upload the weekly releases, it would suck to take even more time just because of this gap.

Walkthrough: I normally post just one every month, but in the near future I'll have to split some. It's going to take a while between each part, I honestly doubt I'd go below 180 seconds, the highest gap you have given so far, though we could use a bigger amount like 300 seconds.

Staff Inbox Reply: Considering the amount of PMs we receive, at least at staff and local levels, a time gap of two minutes would be enough. After all, we do have to read each PM we receive and give a good and convincing answer, so I doubt it would take anybody less than two minutes to do that.

Helpful Staff Reply: Since when is this a CP action?

I like this idea, and most of the time requirements seem fine with me, but I think moving eBay listings should be the same length as rating screenshots (5 second) as it takes about the same time.

I also don't like how you don't get any CP or Viz from the actions of you don't wait the time, as it's hard to judge. I think a page saying it hasn't been _ seconds would be better so you don't loose all of your comfort and Viz for the action.

I really like this. It is a long time coming based on some of the issues we've had during the TdV. I'm going to look through the list and update any numbers that I feel make sense for the action (based on what I've done) though I think the site staff should give their opinions on what is a reasonable amount of time based on their experiences.

These are just my suggestions for what makes sense. Some really don't need a number and others it is pretty hard to pick a proper number. Still, having any number over 5 seconds will help prevent people over-doing a lot of these actions.

Article = N/A - people can't write these very fast and likely aren't submitting more than 1 or 2 a day.
Assigning Review = N/A - doesn't happen often enough to need a limit
Assigning Screenshot = Same as above
Guest Referral = N/A - if happens when it happens
Helpful Staff Reply = 1 minute
Ignored Thread Reply = 1 minute
Playlist Rated = 5 minutes - hard to rate a playlist without looking at and/or listening to the songs in it.
Post Edit = 1 minute
Post Rated = 15 seconds
Post Reporting = 1 minute
Post Spell Checked = 1 minute
Post Words Ignored = 1 minute
Review = N/A - reviews take a long time to write so limiting their submission time doesn't make sense
Staff Forum Post = N/A
Staff Forum Thread = N/A
Staff Inbox Reply = N/A
Video Rated = 1 minute - even short videos should take 30 second to load and watch and evaluate.
Video Submission = 3 minutes - prevent lots of short videos from being made for the same game
Walkthrough = N/A - take too long to write.

I'm going to go ahead and say that Character Adding and editing needs to be at least 30 seconds, preferably 60 seconds because honestly in my personal experience, adding characters is a somewhat slow process, and there's only one user that I've seen who seems to be able to add characters at a blindlingly fast rate. It seems pretty unfair, to me at least.

Character Bios should be at least 120 seconds.

Song Deleting should be 30 seconds

Song editing should be 20 seconds

Game Comment Removal should be 20 seconds

Removing ebay listings should be 20 seconds

Also, I think that Moving Ebay Listing should be changed from 10 seconds to 20 seconds. There's been users during the TDV who have done this CP action wrong and gotten DQ's for it. I don't think a 10 second gap will change that at all.

So I've been mucking around with this and so far I'm liking it. I've been rating songs and I rated 1 song that was 23 seconds long too soon and missed out on the CP and Viz. It's a bit annoying to lose out on it but at the same time it's good to be aware of the limit and I noticed the message that gets sent when you do an action early which is great. It tells you how quickly you did the action and how long you should be waiting.

Loving this new feature so far!

[edit] Clarification question - if during the TdV I rate a song too quickly and get 0 CP does it still count that as 1 action of the overall number you are able to do or does it not register the action at all? Just curious because I think it should count against the total so it reduces the overall number of actions you can take for the day.

[edit2] It works the way I expected it to.... if I messed up then I would gain 1 action but not the CP and Viz (I think). I'd still like this confirmed but it seemed to be that way.

Also, since we're talking about CP and Actions and what not then I figured I would pass along that "Screenshot Details Added" gives credit for Red but not Green. This seems strange since it is not a staff action but doesn't work on both. Curious if that is on purpose or not....

I think this is q good idea for some of the actions, but for the most part until people can get used to it, and for some actions, its going to be a hassle remembering it for a while.

zanderlex : I refer to this thread before doing any actions myself.

I also intend to add this information to the "Information" forum once the times are finalized so that we can refer to it any time someone has an issue with this in the future.

Graphic adding- I think there should be NO time gap for this action. I tend to download multiple boxart/graphics and then upload them to vizzed at one time. (And there is absolutely nothing wrong about doing this, unless you intentionally upload a bunch of incorrect images. Obviously staff would never upload incorrect images intentionally anyways)

Game adding- There could be a small time gap for this action since it should take time to find the correct missing game to add with it's correct content.

Game content- The amount of time it takes really varies depending on whether or not you are able to find content to add for a specific game. So I'm not 100% sure. But I don't think it really needs a big time gap.

Sometimes, I have multiple tabs open with content for 1 game. (Boxart/graphics, game content... etc) I like to have all the content for 1 game organized in front of me to look over before adding them one at a time.

Davideo7 : This is probably one of the best changes to the CP/Viz system since the system was introduced. I really think this will help a lot to quell some of these issues caused by certain people just doing a crazy amount of actions every couple seconds, which can get VERY discouraging to others.

Great job David! Nice work

Game content is any time you submit content. And actually, after thinking about it, this wouldn't work at all because if you fill in more than 1 piece of data and press submit, only 1 would count since the rest would all appear to happen at the same time.

The reason why I'm thinking that graphic adding shouldn't have a limit is because most users like myself like to focus on obtaining the graphics and then submit them all at the same time. That saves a lot of time and is very efficient.

The Helpful Staff Reply is an action which I created but never implemented. Eventually it will be.

Barathemos : The average person isn't going to find a ton of ebay listings to move though unless they're doing it wrong. Also, it requires at least 2 seconds to identify the picture and descipriont and details.

Most likely these times will be based on extreme cases to the point where if anyone does miss out on the CP or Viz, it's entirely their fault. Also, we'd most likely place these time gap limits on actions that don't require you to invest a ton of time.

geeogree : I've updated my post with some of your recommendations.

The reason why I think 180 seconds is plenty for playlist rating is because some playlists only have a few songs.

I decided not to have any limit for Video Submission because a lot of times a user gets credit for all of their videos all at once since the site awards the CP/Viz once a game's page has loaded for the first time for the day.

gamerforlifeforever2 : I'll consider 30 seconds for character adding, 120 for character bios and 20 seconds for game content removal. Most likely the Character Bios wont be used much anymore now that users can write character bios in the form of a thread which awards far more CP and Viz and allows the user to edit their content and also get credit for their work.

From my experience, Song Editing can be done efficiently in 20 seconds. I'm able to anyway. What I do is I get all of my song names ready to rename and then I just hammer away at them. It's more efficient to take care of it in an assembly line process. As for song deleting, I'm thinking of not placing a limit because sometimes when you find a song that needs deleting, you find a bunch of songs all at once which results into deleting a bunch of seconds only seconds apart.

I completely forgot to add Removing Ebay Listing to the list. I'll consider that for 30 seconds.

geeogree : Only actions which award CP and Viz count for the Green Jersey.

The reason that the Screenshot Details Added doesn't count toward the Green Jersey is because it's not a loggable action. Only logged actions count toward the Green Jersey. In order to not fill up the log page and the database page with actions that aren't that valuable to look at, some of them don't log. Posts use to not log until I recently made it log and now because of that, posts also count toward the Green Jersey. Basically what the Green Jersey is doing is looking in the database and seeing how many entries a user has for a specific action for that day.

mohammedroxx3 : I agree with the no time gap for graphic adding.

Game adding I don't think needs one either. Game Content can't have one for the reason I explained to EX Palen.

Jordanv78 : Yeah I've been wanting to implement this for a while now so I was pretty excited when I finally got to it.

I think that this is a good idea but will definitely take some getting used to. During the Tour de Vizzed, this is a nice little restriction that adds another challenge. It's like a cool down system.
