I find myself no longer enjoying the things I used to love doing in life like playing video games, walking my dog, etc. It feels like I don't have anything else to look forward towards. Then again, what do I have to look forward towards? Everything is my life just seems negative and pointless. The lack of enthusiasm is started to take its toll on me. I would like to be able to counter strike this feeling of hopelessness. Any suggestions?

If you aren't working towards any goals, then it feels like there is no point.

Realize what you want to do, and just do it. Try and distract yourself from all of the things in life. Get immersed in the game and forget your worries

While on walks, just enjoy the scenery and the smell in the air. Enjoy the breeze, the colorful flowers, and just enjoy the peace and quiet that comes from it.

Look forward to sleeping. Unconscious moments are ones that are bliss, because you don't have to think.

Look forward to gaming as a way to forget your worries too

And look forward to walks just to get away from life.

I agree with a lot of what Yoshi said. If you don't have a goal or a project or something you are working on or towards then life can feel meaningless. And video games don't count as a goal

I find that I get more out of life when I'm working. Work makes me feel like I'm part of something bigger (even if that something bigger isn't anything all that great) and then the other things in life don't feel like wastes of time but instead they are my escape from the effort expended at work.

That's just me though. Everyone is different. Sometimes feeling down is just part of life and you have to endure it for a while until things improve. I find that sometimes when I feel really crappy for a while that my happiness later on is even better because of how bad I felt.

I also agree with Yushi, you might want to set a goal to work towards to. Whatever it might be you just need to do it that way you have a goal to work towards. When you have a goal to work towards then you will maybe not have such a feeling of hopelessness.

Barathemos : I have deciced not to give into despair and grief. I'm going to keep working towards being a better person now. May not see results today or tomorrow, but if I keep trying, my efforts might pay off eventually. My resolve is solid this time.

My main bit of advice would be take the best care of yourself possible (exercise, eating healthy, beneficial / positive hobbies). Doing these things will help with the chemical balance in your brain, releasing more dopamine and serotonin which make you feel good and motivated. Or research into the subject just mentioned, and figure out your own positive ways to keep your brain chemistry as healthy as possible. Hormones and neurotransmitters play a HUGE role in how you feel and think.
