This month's Speed Run competition is for 'Yume Koujou: Doki Doki Panic' for the Famicom Disk System. You can play it here:
https://www.vizzed.com/play/yume-koujou-doki-doki-panic-fds-famicom-disk-system-36483-game

The target goal is for the "Bad Ending" which means you simply just have to play through the game once. In order to get the "Good Ending" you actually have to beat the game with all 4 characters but that's not required in this competition.

The point of this competition is to beat the game as fast as you can.

VIDEO REQUIRED: You can use the RGR Plugin's built in video recording to record the gameplay or external software. Afterward, upload the video to the Vizzed YouTube account.

RULES: You MUST play the game using the RGR Plugin in 'Timetrial Mode' and take a screenshot of the ending screen by pressing F6 when you've completed the game. To play in 'Timetrial Mode', scroll down the page where it shows the Speed Runs, you'll see a link that says 'Click Here to Compete for Speed Run', click that. Once you've taken your screenshot, click the link near that one that says 'Click Here to Submit your Speed Run' to submit your speed run.

You cannot cheat or use glitches of any sort.

Prizes:
1st = 50,000 Viz
2nd = 25,000 Viz
3rd = 10,000 Viz

TIP:
In order to swap the game disk, press spacebar.

Competition begins now.

I've never played in a real FDS before. This is a great chance for this
Also, I never heard of this game before, but it seems very interesting.

Yes, I'm planning to compete in this game, during the month lenght. I hope more players do the same, for fun.

I have a question: I heard somewhere that it's allowed to submit only one SpeedRun (and only one HighScore) for each Vizzed game. Is it right?

I'm going to give this a shot. Never played the original Doki Doki Panic before, but after having fiddled around with it for a bit, I already know the lack of a run button might mean that Papa (Toad is the SMB2 counterpart of him) isn't actually the best character to go with, since a lot more jumps need to be crouch-charged with him thanks to his low jump height.

Oh boy this game, don't see that much everyday. I don't plan to participate mostly because I haven't even beaten SMB2 so I really don't think I have a shot. Good luck to all who do have a shot though and try your best.

Davideo7 : I've encountered a massive problem with this competition. The emulator being used for speedrun, famitwin(?), fails to function during the intro to Doki Doki Panic, meaning that the game refuses to run in speedrun mode.

I had been practicing rather extensively, hoping to one-shot this run like I did Super Mario Land 2, but have no way to do it unless I did it away from the speedrun mode of the game, which obviously wouldn't count as a submission. And yes, the intro is forced to play before you can start the game. If you start the game with Side B (playable game side), the Famicom will have an error since Side A (intro side) is the one that must be read first.
Anyone know or can possibly help with what the issue might be? I have a sneaking suspicion that it's something going on at my end, since I doubt the mode wasn't tested prior to being made a competition.

EDIT: I was able to get past the intro, but I still wasn't able to get the game started; it would freeze anyways at the character select before you can choose your character. Also, Mama's file always starts off with World 1 complete. I've tried deleting the Doki Doki Panic files and having them re-downloaded, but to no avail. The same issues still occur. I'm going to start trying to use older versions of the RGR plugin to see if they'll work.

Hi all!

It's impossible to record videos. It freezes the screen, and record no movements.

I know today is the last day for these FDS competitions (Yume Koujou: Doki Doki Panic and Tobidase Daisakusen), however it's already on time. I started only today to play these games, however I'm with problems too, in both games.

This FDS emulator, Famitwin (for YKDDP speedrun mode or for TD highscore mode). Anyway I'm playing fine in these modes, without recording the video. Considering video recording is required, and external software is allowed, I'm going to play this way, then F6 for screenshot, and recording the video externally. This is the best solution that I found for now.

(Edit)

I'm able to finish this game, however I'm getting some problems when EXTERNAL-recording long files (big file sizes).
Well, probably SWTerra would finish this game faster than me, however if I'd play more this game, I think this would be an interesting competition.

By the way, I played/recorded/submitted only a short performance of Tobidase Daisakusen game, for the HighScore competition.
