Who should I use on my team in Pokémon light platinum?
I choose Squirtle as my starter and I picked up the growlithe so I could use it for the first gym. I think I want to keep both of those Pokémon on my team.

Currently I just beat team rocket in Esmerald city. I haven't done the gym yet.

Also you can get a Scizor from a trade but you cant really train it until after the second gym because it wont listen to you. Should I keep it and raise it from level 15 after the second gym?

I'm also thinking I want to keep a Heracross on my team as well. Horn attack and Ice smash seem to be doing well.

I'm not sure what gyms are coming up or what types, I feel like I might need a flying type to get around later in the game.
