What do I do? It started yesterday at my old school. My phone kept asking me to put in the username and password, which is something it hasn't asked me to do for that wifi in a year, and when I put it in, all it did was redirect me to an advertisement for the Microsoft store, and then nothing happened, couldn't connect.

All other wifis were fine, when I went to my friends house after, it worked there, and when I went home it worked on mine ad well as when I was travelling, it worked app the way until I went to sleep. But once I woke up, the same thing happened on my own wifi and it wouldn't connect.

It got to the point where I don't have to put in the username and password anymore, but all it does now is say no internet access when I click on any wifi.

What should I do? Has anyone had this problem before?

zanderlex : Fear not you are not alone. I looked into a forum for Windows phones specially those running 8.1 this has happened to so many people it's not even funny anymore. They suggest that you back up all of your data and do a "hard reset" go to Setting>about>reset. Every user there that did it claimed it fixed the issue.

This one says change the router channel to 6 rather than 12 - worked for one user. I guess you'll have to log in to your router's settings online to do so

jlove92 : The first thing I did in the morning was a reset, after the reset was when it stopped asking for a username and password and started saying no internet. This is the 2nd time I had to reset the phone this month and now there's no way at all to get back all the apps and stuff that I had.

Oh no that's the same phone? I thought it was a newer one. That phone's been a nightmare. The forums talk about cleaning all the wifi settings but since reset I am sure you've cleared that already. Any insurance on it?

jlove92 : I don't think there's insurance on it, I don't even know how to get that and it probably would have been expired by now.

Call the provider and get the insurance, pay for it sometimes cheap then wait a few days then call and ask for a replacement. They mail it to you and you mail your old one to them.

If this is the same phone that you had the SD card issue with, then I don't think you'll find a good solution. Your phone sounds like it's in really, really bad shape. You may just need a replacement, as jlove mentioned. At this point, that's probably your best option.

jlove92 : How would I get insurance? Don't you have to get that when you get the phone?

NovemberJoy : Nope, two different phones.

Call whichever carrier you have, Verizon or what not. Google their customer service number call them, listen to the options, select speak to a representative and let them know you want to add insurance to your monthly bill. They'll tell you how much is needed at that moment to do it for me it was like $25. Then wait a week or so and call in or go to their website and start a "claim" or you can just call them and let them know your phone is not working properly, they'll walk you through troubleshooting, once the basics are covered they'll tell you how to mail it back. With Virgin Mobile I never had to pay anything extra but, with Sprint I had to pay $100 to get a refurbished iPhone. Then, you mail the old one back they'll mail you a prepaid bag with your new one. Again depends on carrier. Best bet to call them and find out how it works for them. Many carriers don't mind doing this because they get to refurbish your phone and keep your business.
