So, I was reading the thread about how you found vizzed and right after that I was looking at someone who said they came back to vizzed after a while and I started to think that it would be pretty cool to merge the two and talk about why people are coming back to vizzed?

Most of the time, people have a reason as to why they leave and then they randomlly come back, but why? Did you miss the people? Did you miss the games?

If you ever left vizzed for an extended period of time, discuss what made you come back.

I originally discovered Vizzed in April 2012, when I was trying to find a way to play Pokemon Emerald online. Got bored. One year and a few months later, July 2013, I came back on the site to play more games. I was annoyed about the ads and the '7 games per day' limit, so I decided to create an account. Got bored again, and returned on October 2013. That was the month when I began making friends, and posting. Haven't left the site ever since that month.

I've left a couple times, once early on, around 2011, and once again in 2013, I think. I forget exactly when.

I left in 2011 because I just had little interest in the site, and had friends I'd rather spend time with online. Me and a few friends more or less deserted Vizzed for our own forum called Inane Cult Gamer (now defunct). It was founded by the_casualty and I, for our friends, and we built a small stable of members, both from Vizzed, and from other sites. Eventually, some of these members came back to Vizzed with us.

I came back, then, because I was more or less asked, and I had no reason not to come back.

I was still somewhat "active", in the sense that I'm active now, but I was not truly active.

I left again in 2013 because of a self-induced perma-ban.

I didn't like where my life was at, and so I asked geeogree to ban me, so I could stave off my dependency, and find more productive ways to use my time. Once I found balance in my life, I casually asked him to unban me, and so he did just that.

As a result, I am a more complete human being, who isn't addicted to posting or the internet.

I only came back because I wanted to. No real reason as to why I wanted to.

I was not planning on leaving but I got busy with life and I wanted to get back on but I got busy with other sites and stuff and I came back because I felt like this site is one of my favorites.

I've been in and out of vizzed from time to time, but recently I've been inactive longer than usual due to poor choices that happened some time around TdV. I was feeling pretty down and thought that I was beyond redemption so I left. One day suddenly I had a urge to come back and try to make things up with everyone. And so here I am.

I left vizzed for almost a month, last month, and I came back because I missed all my friends here. I was craving the games too, but mostly the community. Now I'm having fun posting a lot in the forums like the old days I've been playing quite a few games already too, but most of them are just hacks of the same game XD

I joined originally in late 2012 and only used the site for a few months. I've been a drug addict for the past 8 years so that kind of consumed my life until I went to rehab through September of 2015. Now that I got my life back together, I thought it was time to hit the games again. Drugs are bad, mmkay.

I joined back in 2013 and had a blast, but then I put gaming on hold due to juggling a few jobs. After I changed careers, I forgot about Vizzed until about a month ago. A friend was complaining about not being able to play the "good ol' games" easily. I told him about a site I used to frequent that was free and legal. I still don't know if he joined or not, but it got me back here. So with that,

they lived happily ever after!

Apogree : I only joined a couple months after you and yet I never even heard of you until recently.

In 2012 I searched for Pokemon Rom Hacks, found this site and played one to the end. I then fell off the radar till I got my own computer and found this site again in 2013 to which I played more. Then in 2014 I started using the board and the rest is history.

Um... Well, why I left is simple. Why I came back is a bit more complex.

Left: Because life is busy. I have less free time than I did before, and when I do have free time I usually spend it on my hobbies, which unfortunately haven't been Vizzed. Currently the forum I'm most often on in comparison... is Facebook. Technically, that's a forum, right?

Came back: Well, 1 a bit of obligation (I do stare at it as my homepage after all), 2 a bit of boredom, and 3 a bit of "I wonder if anything's improved" which it did. Let me explain:
1. Years ago, David offered Viz to anyone who made Vizzed their homepage. I had no real attachment to any website, so I didn't have a homepage and I figured "why not?" That was years ago. I now have 24,000 Viz just sitting on my account now for whatever Photoshop layout job strikes my fancy that allows me to spend a few hundred of it, or any other deal. Honestly, I spent a bunch of Viz on the TV item and whatnot in the shop long ago, so I have all of the biggest items that gain me access to every part of this site, but I have the actual Emulators on my computer already, which I can play offline (another reason I rarely ever came on here, cuz I didn't often get online period cuz I don't have internet at home. Usually use my work's wifi or at friend's house) so I have no reason to be anywhere except the forums when I do come here. It's a bit of an offensive answer, I understand. But that's why I love being Elite (because my favorite thing to do here is give my opinion in the Development forum on ideas to make the site better). I'm not much for giving my opinion, unless it's got productive spark behind it.
2. Currently, the thing I most often do in the few hours a week I do have internet is downloading Youtube videos to watch in my spare time offline (hence the youtube question in my "comeback" thread). One day, I simply ran out of stuff to download and had nothing else to do, so my mind strayed and I wondered what's changed since I left Vizzed. One thing led to another, and now I'm here. Idk how OFTEN I'll frequent here, but it'll be more than one thread per 2 years, I can promise that.
3. David's a passionate guy. He works his butt off to improve this site more than any other one-man team ever would improve a video game forum. Heck, he's had to battle with OTHER people who ran forums rival to his (reference to a battle that's been long gone with, I think Randy was his name). And part of that passion is allowing people to offer up their ideas as to HOW or WHAT to improve when it comes to this site as well, and I love that. I'm a problem solver. That's been my passion (and at one time, my job) forever. If something lacks, I love watching it improve. If somebody is down, I'd like to pick them back up. So having access to a Development forum (which for a few months in the past would be the ONLY forum I'd check coming on here, if that gives you some perspective as to my mindset) is amazing to me. There was also a moment in time where I was able to provide HUGE help to him while sorting out a fight between the old Admin (JigSaw) and the then-Global Geeogree. Nostalgia, sure, but that day made me feel important at a time when I felt useless. Simple things like that, being able to help a system improve. Being able to sort out details the Owner didn't even know, which hopefully eased stress in a stressful moment. Those are the moments that make me happiest. So I enjoy being able to affect the system in a meaningful way, because hopefully it helps somebody.

At one time I left for a couple years or so due to life and just being bored of the site even though I visited for a couple minutes from time to time.
I came back in mid-2015 out of boredom,fell in love again and also started talking in great threads and made my own boring threads and also started making my game reviews.

I keep leaving the boards because I tend to have other things to do and also I run my own community which does get in the way somewhat.

The admins said that they are working on a new feature that will let you change your username. I don't know all the details and nobody really knows when they're releasing it, either. But it'll happen one day.

Maybe or maybe not. I heard that Viz will be involved. If you have enough Viz you may be able to change it but I'm not 100 percent sure on that.

I left about at this time last year mainly because life was getting in the way and I just couldn't really be on the site as much as I wanted to. Eventually I just shut everything down and left all at once.

I'm slowly coming back into the community because I really did miss the happy, family-like environment and all of the friends I left behind without explanation. Hopefully they can forgive me.

Even though I've been known to disappear for periods of times, I always come back because vizzed is quite a magical place.  Ever since I first joined around 3 years ago, I've only seen it grow and improve. The user base has vastly improved, spirits have become higher, and features have expanded.  While I admit that one site can easily hold my attention easier than vizzed (and only one), it's also not welcoming at all.  The staff are corrupt, much of the user base is petty and cruel, and people tear each other down.  I love the site for its game... but that is all.

Vizzed is everything that website is not, and I always feel honored to be here.  I feel welcome, loved, appreciated, and accepted. The fact that most people also feel that way speaks volumes for how vizzed is run and the people that make up its community.

I've gone inactive for long periods of time before, but I always ended up coming back. When it comes to retro games, nothing can beat the convenience of just playing them in your browser, and the community is probably one of the best that I've been a part of. I do start to miss this site if I go a long time without posting anything. I'd say that I'm a bit attached. Or addicted, if you prefer that word.

I came back because I want to discover more games, especially now where there are now Dreamcast games (abelit with a longer load time) and some emulators work properly with their games
