You know, some of you think this could be the longest we have went without a core Pokemon release. But out of boredom, I looked up at the release dates of all games (North America releases, I would do Japanese releases, but it would be all over the place) and added up the total amount of days we waited on a Pokemon game to be released, and I have came up with this...

Red/Blue - Yellow..
9/28/98 - 10/18/99 = 385 days

Yellow - Gold/Silver..
10/18/99 - 10/15/00 = 363 days

Gold/Silver - Crystal..
10/15/00 - 7/29/01 = 277 days

Crystal - Ruby/Sapphire..
7/29/01 - 3/19/03 = 598 days

Ruby/Sapphire - FireRed/LeafGreen..
3/19/03 - 9/9/04 = 540 days

FireRed/LeafGreen - Emerald..
9/9/04 - 5/1/05 = 234 days

Emerald - Diamond/Pearl..
5/1/05 - 4/22/07 = 721 days

Diamond/Pearl - Platinum..
4/22/07 - 3/22/09 = 700 days

Platinum - HeartGold/SoulSilver..
3/22/09 - 3/14/10 = 357 days

HeartGold/SoulSilver - Black/White..
3/14/10 - 3/6/11 = 357 days

Black/White - Black 2/White 2..
3/6/11 - 10/7/12 = 581 days

Black 2/White 2 - X/Y..
10/7/12 - 10/12/13 = 370 days

X/Y - Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire..
10/12/13 - 11/21/14 = 405 days

Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire - "Z"..
11/21/14 - ??/??/?? = 421 days (as of this post).


So, the time that has the longest drought between Core Pokemon releases would be between Emerald to Diamond/Pearl with 721 days, but if Z isn't released by November 2, 2016 (that would mark more than 721 days since ORAS's release dates), and it would beat the record of time without a core release.

Nintendo and Game Freak has yet to make an announcement with Z, who knows, a record could be broken if they don't make an announcement soon.

So, you think that this could be the longest that we will go without a core Pokemon release or would Nintendo/Game Freak come out of the blue and announce Z out of nowhere.

*shrugs* I don't really care much, but I'm not sure if it'll be that long before then. It'll probably be close, though.

As someone who was waiting for Brawl's release since its first E3 video (when it was already available for preorder and I got it through that), I've become very patient with new games and wait times.

721 days would make sense actually because that would be the time they they usually are released lately, usually around October and November.

It's not like there's anything to do about it, they have to work on other games like super mystery dungeon, so right there, that could have added a year.

I'm not surprised about this, and I'm also certain they will set another record.

As zander said, they have other things in mind. Pokken Tournament, Super Mystery Dungeon, Pokemon Go... Nintendo has tried to expand the series, and of course that comes with a price, which is the delay of the next core game to be released. Plus, they still have to introduce new things to the core storyline, like the new Zygarde forms and Volcanion, but I'm sure those won't be the only ones.

Another thing to note is the NX project of Nintendo. Since Pokemon is their main franchise alongside Mario, maybe they're planning to release the new core game on that system. This seems unlikely, as all games focusing on the same region have seen the light on the same system (except remakes), and it would be very rare for Nintendo to break this trend.

Honestly, I think we could definitely see Z come out before the 721 day mark. With this year being The Year of Pokemon, I definitely think we'll get an announcement of the next core Pokemon game coming out either right at or before the 721 day mark.

gamerforlifeforever2 : Yeah, Nintendo and Game Freak might make an announcement regarding the next core game (which would be Z) on the 20th anniversary. Remember, we had the same thought back before the 10th anniversary in 2006 about what's next for the Pokemon series, then they officially announced Diamond and Pearl on the 10th anniversary.

So, I do see Z being announced, but when it is released, we won't know.


EX Palen : Well, they basically got evidence of the next game, not sure why they haven't announced it yet. Also, They do release different generations on different handhelds, like..

Gen I - GameBoy
Gen II - GameBoy Color
Gen III - GameBoy Advance
Gen IV - Nintendo DS
Gen V - Nintendo DSi
Gen VI - Nintendo 3DS

With this list, Generation VII will more likely will be for the New Nintendo 3DS.

Z would be a food announcement, but from what I have been seeing, it looks like they might be announcing a lot more than just one Pokemon game.
