What do you think of the Oculus Rift? We herd all these things about how awesome virtual reality is from articles and from YouTubers playing games with them, but for the most part, we still haven't played it yet.

I like the Oculus Rift and the concept and everything, I just feel some people might have some troubles with the controls, since they will be seeing the virtual reality and wont be able to see the controls or anything else for that matter, so wires, and maybe even other stuff around you could get in your way.

Do you think the OR will work out the way everyone thinks it will? Will you eventually get it or maybe one of the other devices?

I would LOVE to have one,  or at least try one out. But I'm afraid to even know how much they're going to sell for. I think it'll be the next "cool thing" out there, but it won't last as long as consoles and such. It may be like the new Wii, everyone wanted it, everyone bought it, not even half of them play on it anymore. It'll basically be the Call of Duty for consoles, if you can call it that.

Domdof : They actually just released the price tag today, it's gonna cost $600, which is a ton. I wish I could get one, but I don't think the variety of good games for it will be good for a while.

I like the idea of the OR, but at $600 or so, it's way out of my price range.  I hope to try it someday, but buying it may be a whole different matter.  I don't even have a job or allowance of any sort right now.  And I'm not sure I'd like the VR tech so much as to drop $600 on it even if I had the money.  It's awesome, that's for sure, but it's also expensive.  I feel that the tech can be put to good use, though; for practical applications, such as for flight simulators and the like.

supernerd117 : Well, they do have this thing where you can use it eventually to visit any place on earth which I think is awesome, and you could even visit people online and it would be like they are really there.

zanderlex : Yea $600 is way too much, especially considering I have a $2k computer and a PS4. I'm sure a few friends of mine will pick one up and I can try theirs.

Domdof : Well, when you actually look at how much technology, and then also how many different pieces there are to the Rift, a $600 price tag seems a bit more fair, but its still not something that I would get until at least a couple of price drops. I'm sure after a couple of years, the rift will be in the $300's so getting it later on seems like the smart move.

$600 makes sense, given the technology of the Rift itself, but just like all of you guys, I don't have $600 to just burn on something like that. I won't be getting that any time soon, for sure.

SWTerra : It does make sense, but not a lot of people are going to agree with that simply because not that many people.are going to have that kind of money to throw away on it. It's great and all, but right now its going to be very limited in the number of games that I can play, so until OR has a better game library, or the price for it drops a little but, I don't believe that its going to sell that many units.

As far as I heard, there's only maybe 4 or 5 games that are really good that work for the OR, while the rest are either medicore or still have plenty of bugs that need to be fixed, so even if I had that kind of money, I would probably really want it, but I would gold off a bit until the games got a bit better.

Something like this happened when the PS3 came out. When that came out, it was actually the same price, $600 but nobody bought it until weeked after because of the price and problems
