Hey guys, Tyranit here with a review of Mega Man 9! Mega Man 9 was released in 2008, 12 long years after the last game in the classic series, Mega Man 8 (I consider Mega Man & Bass a side game, as it isn't numbered). We saw the return to the 8 Bit style of the first 6 games in this game, but enough with my rambling, lets get to the review.
Graphics - 10
The reason I give Mega Man 9 a perfect 10 in graphics is because of the return to the 8 bit style that no one was expecting, and that it wasn't as restricted as the original Nintendo Entertainment System's hardware. The bosses are very well designed, and have a lot more fluid animation compared to the original 6 NES games. There are a few new enemies that look cool, as well as returning enemies such as the Metool. The background and stage designs are vibrant and pleasing to the eye with the simple aesthetic of 8 bit.
Sound - 10
I also give another perfect 10 to Mega Man 9 in sound because this sound track is amazing. Every theme, Tornado Man's, Plug Man's Gravity Man's, and especially the Wily Stages have amazing music. I wouldn't change any bit of it, unless it was to make a remix. I also love the return of the classic sound effects like the explosion of Robot Masters, the P-Shooter, and the only 2 returning songs from Mega Man 2, the password screen and the Weapon Get screen songs, fit in well here.
Addictiveness - 8
Mega Man 9 is pretty addictive, as I always go to play a stage of this game if I am wanting a challenge for the day. This game is difficult on its own, but I also love doing Perfect Runs (not getting hit once through a whole stage, including the boss), and No Miss Runs (Hitting every shot you dish out). Another thing I love playing through for difficulty is the downloadable Proto Man, as he is a glass cannon, being able to do charge shots and slide, but takes double the damage (Yeah, Mega Man is back to his original play style in Mega Man 1 and 2).
Story - 6
Mega Man 9 has a somewhat unique story compared to the other games. Beware *SPOILERS*! Dr. Wily frames Dr. Light for letting the 8 Robot Masters Light built go wild and destroy the city, but we soon see after beating the 8 Robot Masters from a video recording that all 8 bots were coming upon their expiration date (the date where robots will be scrapped), and Wily took them in and reprogrammed them. The game still ended with Wily as the villain, but somehow fooled me until I saw the video footage after beating all 8 bots, which made me disappointed in myself for thinking Wily wasn't the villain for the 9th time in a row. Anyway, Wily had a robot version of Dr. Light for the framing, which almost got Mega Man destroyed when he tried rescuing it from a jail cell before Wily Castle came crumbling down. *END SPOILERS*
Depth - 7
Mega Man 9 has 12 regular levels, but also has many new features that couldn't be fit into the NES games, such as the DLC Proto Man and a special stage with another Robot Master, Fake Man, who was a police robot used in the filming of the framing of Dr. Light, but never seen in the main game. There are also in-game achievements, such as beat the game under an hour, or beat the game without dying. The last thing is the endless mode, where every 30 screens you go through you fight a boss, with only 1 life.
Difficulty - 6
Mega Man 9 in pretty hard on its own, with the instant kill magma beams in Magma Man's stage, and the reused bubble puzzle originally from Wave Man's stage in Mega Man 5, placed into Splash Woman's stage (Yeah, didn't mention that one of the robot masters was a female. I hope to see more female robot masters). Playing with Proto Man is even harder with the glass cannon concept he has, but this game isn't unbeatable by any means.
Overall - 9
Overall, I give Mega Man 9 a 9 out of 10. A perfect way for the classic series to come back with a bang, and in the 8 bit style. The graphical return and sound were perfect, and I love playing this game, which at the end of the day is what matters the most. Anyway, this has been my review of Mega Man 9, and I hope you enjoyed reading!

A little trick: if your review is to contain spoilers, either tell it at the very beginning or use spoiler tags.

Anyway, even though I never played any Megaman game, I imagine I would be drawn to 9 thanks to your review. You gave ample details and a lot of comparisons with the original 6 ones. High 4!
