Yep. I like the game Sonic Labyrinth. It is a fast-paced game, it is just not the fastest Sonic game. I just played the first two zones before I posted this, just to make sure I still felt that way, and I do. Even if it's not an ideal Sonic game, it still deserves some credit. If a child draws you a picture and it's just a bunch of scribbles, you wouldn't just rip it up, burn the evidence, and tell them it sucks and they should come up with something better. That will never make them better artists. Or they will just continue to draw scribble art just to be rebels. You still put the drawing on the fridge, and say "look at this drawing my kid made."  And if you are a person who would criticize a child's drawing skills, you are a monster. And I do intend for you to take that personally. The normal thing to do is to buy the kid drawing books, or pay for art lessons. I guess my point is that when a video game comes out for a franchise that is not the best they could do, we shouldn't just say "you suck, go away I don't like you anymore." and proceed to burn their building down. Just to be clear that is Not what you want to do. The point of reviewing and criticizing games is to let the company know what they did right before and what they were lacking this time. It is not for holding them at gun point and saying "Give me a good Sonic game or you (the franchise) will die." After all I suppose God himself, whom I try to be like as a Christian, loves all of the art His children make no matter how it is made. After all, in terms of material things that mean nothing compared to what is in Heaven, good video games are equal to bad video games. So just take what you can get, and don't be so quick to point fingers. But that's just my opinion.
P.S. To address my slightly rude writing, I happen to share the same last name as a certain writer named Samuel Beckett who was a very straight forward writer. I think it might be in my blood.
