The other day, I was reading a newspaper. It had an article about monkeys having entered a Stone Age. It also said that monkeys would become considerably more intelligent if they started making and eating cooked meat. So, I started thinking.
What if monkeys set up a McDonalds saw "Planet of the Apes" became advanced enough to start a war against humanity?
If that'd happen, would it be considered okay if we started fighting back? If things hit the fan enough, would genocide be even considered?

Don't worry: humans hate competition and would annihilate the monkeys/chimpanzees/bonobos long before they became powerful enough to challenge us.

Traduweise : I'm not worried at all. It took humanity a few thousand years to unleash their full potential. I'd be long gone before monkeys invent toilet paper and Carl "Imp" Chimp releases his first tape O' fire mixtape.

The only way "monkeys" would ever take over is if humans lost their spot at the top. We would have to destroy our technological advantage before anything like this would happen. It would be basically impossible to bridge that gap without help and I don't see humans helping any other species do that.

Unless they undergo severe mutations (as humans did when chromosomes merged) it is unlikely to happen. Besides which "monkey" are talking about: chimps? rhesus? gorillas? And as geeogree said, we would need a catastrophe on OUR side for monkeys to "take over".

I think enough evolutionary and naturalist experiments and studies show that when two species directly compete against each other, one invariably wipes the other one out.  Three or more species competing for the same resources provide a balance and no one gains the upper hand.

I doubt apes or ape-like creatures will get to the point where they can serious challenge humanity's lead on this planet.  As they develop cooking and things like that, we're developing space flight, destruction-free bombs that only kill living things and not structures, and great, violent new ways to wipe out populations.  We're also figuring out how to make mech suits, powered legs, and whatnot.

No.  It would never get to the point where we would need to fight back, not with earth-based simians.  If it did get that far, yes, humans would have no problem destroying the species.

If you are interested in the subject, you might want to read this article http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-3058268/Why-chimps-human-U-S-court-grants-human-rights-chimpanzees-astonishing-account-naturalist-reveals-animals-like-think.html

And besides, who knows. All the poaching and trapping going on, it might even speed up the chimpanzee evolution. Only the smartest ones will survive. I'm not saying we will have a planet of the apes scenario in a century or so or that they will evolve into the stone age, but maybe they will start to "ape" us in some way and evolve in a way we have not thinked of yet. Back when we were at that stage, we did not have a "big brother" species to guide us like they do. Or hunt us and enslave us. Who knows what will happen?

As they evolve, so do we. The internet has sped up the process of social evolution in humans. By the time chimpanzee's have the intelligence to start a civilization, we'd more than be capable of talking to them. Reason to them.
As said before, disaster would be needed for the two species to be in a equal-enough plain to be able to battle each other. By the time that happens, they would have evolved to a point that they'd be considered a type of human, or close.

Either ways, humans do want to be at the top of the chain of life. They want to cover each thing as to not die. To survive. If something threatens us, we eliminate it. Like a virus or disease.
