So who here remembers/enjoys the show Malcolm in the Middle? The Hit Fox TV show that ran from 2000 to 2006. Starring Bryan Cranston and Frankie Muniz to name a few.



Anyways Alec Robbins decided to create an awesome 8-bit video game about the beloved show after binge watching Malcolm in the Middle on Netflix one day.

You literally have to keep Malcolm in the middle. Dewey, Malcolm and Reese are walking in a line, and you have to maneuver Malcolm so he doesn’t accidentally bump into either Dewey or Reese. But because Malcolm’s brothers can be jerks, they’ll randomly speed up or slow down, so you have to be ready.

The game is simple and straightforward, yet it’s so much more than that. Speech bubbles appear above the three characters from time to time that either ask existential questions or just make common observations about the boys’ daily lives, both good and bad.

When I first read the title I was very skeptical about hoe such a game would work because its not like the show was Sci fi, fantasy, or anything, so I didn't think there would be much to it, but I do love the show, and a lot, probably one of my favorite sitcoms of all time.

It really does look pretty simple, I tried it once for a few seconds but did kind of give up right away because it isn't exactly ky style but the look and feel is pretty cool.

zanderlex : I mean it's a simple game that the guy probably made in a day or so, so it's not blowing doors of anyone. That's kinda why I posted the extended explanation of the game. It's literally clicking left/right to keep Malcolm in the middle lol. Just a game for fans of the show to enjoy. Sort of like the Perfect Strangers flash game lol

Yeah, just the fact that he made a game itself and went through the trouble of it is amazing, I just wont find myself playing it again unless I'm both really bored and also remember it. I don't see it being a classic or anything, even for fans of the show, just something they would see and like for a while before moving on.

Well being that it's a flash game, I wasn't really expecting that people play this game every day for the rest of their lives. Just a fun time waster to see how high of a score everyone could get lol

So my first submission is decent 160,000 Although I know I could do better. Honestly I find this game a lot easier to play on a keyboard than on my phone, but that's just me.

I gave it a shot and got 213,000. It doesn't really get progressively harder from what I noticed which is too bad because it feels like it would just go on forever. After around 150,000 the game started to make weird noises and the kids mentioned a few times that I should be done playing so I'm not sure if the game is intended to go that long or if it's suppose to be a joke. Anyways, screenshot is at the end of my post.

The reason I gave this a shot though was because I love that show and it's easily the top 3 funniest shows I've ever seen. I actually didn't get into the show until 2 years after it ended. I had seen a few episodes while it was airing but for whatever reason I didn't get into it at that time. Once I got into it though, I really enjoyed it and then I eventually saw that it was available on Netflix and watched the entire series from start to finish over the course of a few weeks.

The game itself is pretty basic and if it wasn't based on Malcom in the Middle, I'd probably like it a lot less but because of the various things the kids say (being based on the show), the 8-bit graphics and the awesome 8-bit recreation of the theme song, this game is enjoyable for a short time.

Davideo7 : Yeah it seems a lot more challenging if you play it on mobile rather than with the arrow keys on a keyboard. Seemed WAY easier when I finally tried it earlier on a keyboard. You are right though, it basically goes on forever as far as I can tell. Maybe the guy will update it.

It's your basic flash type game, but it is funny to play just to see the different things they say based on the TV show.

This is an example how a simple game could be made. When I reach like 165000 the game music begins to play weird noises and the screen turns all red.

When I reach like 250,000 points the characters begins to shout, because the say "STOP!", yeah in capital letters. I don't know if this is a joke but it's annoying if they use it like 2 seconds every time.

Anyway is just a casual game that reminds us this awesome TV series

The stuff that happens as you hit certain score plateaus is just meant as a joke. I think the fact that it's annoying is part of the way the game distracts you and tries to mess you up ;-)

I'm surprised there aren't more fans of the show interested in what this is!

I remember the show! Boy was it amazing to watch back in the day! I never knew of this so I may give it a go it looks fun. Its been some years since I have watched Malcolm in the middle. So I might go back and watch it from the beginning again.
