I am completely shocked by how much I fell in love with CS:GO lately. The thing is, I never actually planned on playing it because of how big the file size was and I was afraid that it would hurt the laptop I've been using for the last year and a half. It's for that reason that I didn't download any of the bigger Steam games I had on my last laptop to this one such as Skyrim and Bully, which I had both played quite a bit before. Then one day in August I was watching someone play the game on Twitch and I decided it was finally time to re download the game and ever since I did that, I had not been able to stop playing. I probably had the game installed for no more than 5 weeks and it's already the most played Steam game that I own out of more than 120 over two years. That's how much fun I had playing it, whether it was online or against bots, I would play for about 3 to 5 hours a day and I just couldn't stop.
I loved the game so much that I started doing things that I have never done before for a Steam game. I wanted to play competitively, and I don't mean lie what they have in the game, I joined a ladder and tried to join a team in ESL. I even started making my own workshop items, spending hours just working on one gun, and I'm pretty good at it too, but the point is the game is so much fun.
GRAPHICS 8/10
The graphics for CS:GO are really well done, the characters look pretty decent, the maps are all full of detail, and the weapons are sick. When I mean sick, I mean really really sick. For weapons, they may not all look realistic, but some of the rarer versions of some guns have some really sweet designs, like the Chameleon AUG, which has a chameleon on the side and a bunch of other sweet guns. Aside for the guns, most of the maps are full of extreme detail, like in the Agency map, it looks like you are really in some sort of a government building with all of the furniture and the way that the building looks. Even when you are outside of the building you can see other towers off in the distance and the helicopter moving away from you. Overall, the graphics are sweet and for a grade, they can get an 8 out of 10.
SOUND 9/10
The sound is amazing, for both regular sounds as well as the music. First let’s talk about the music, which at times can be really catchy, like the song that plays when you first boot up the game. After just hearing that song for a couple of times, I fell in love with it and now I love hearing it over and over. As for the sounds, there’s a ton of them, there’s voices, each gun makes a sound, breaking a window, running, pretty much everything has its own sound that makes the game come to life. I love the sound of the game and wouldn’t change a thing about it and for that, my grade for it will be a 9 out of 10.
ADDICTIVENESS 10/10
As I had mentioned earlier, I fell in love with this game, which is already my most played Steam game by a lot after just a few weeks. I already racked up more than 60 hours which is more than 20 hours more than any other of my games and more than 70 achievements and I’m nowhere near being done playing the game. It’s just so much fun. You can play offline against bots in a variety of different game modes, you can play those same games online with friends or other random internet faces, and once you are good enough, you can also play competitive matches against others. That’s just the tip of the niceberg, cause it’s nice, because then you get to collect sweet guns and other weapons. It’s like an awesome card collecting game but better and just collecting guns can get so addicting. For instance, you might find yourself winning cases and weapons as you beat matches, but then you want to open those cases so you buy keys and soon enough you are buying more keys, more cases, and even more weapons, and then later on you will find yourself even betting stuff on other people playing, so the game is actually addicting outside of the game as well. Don’t take my word for it, I told myself I would never play, but then I gave it a shot and I fell in love and I’m sure you will too because of how addicting it is. For a grade, this category gets a perfect 10 out of 10.
STORY N/A
This isn’t the kind of game that doesn’t have a story. It isn’t like most FPS games like CoD or Battlefield where you have Multiplayer and you also have the campaign mode. Here, everything is multiplayer, unless you are playing against bots, and even with that it works the exact same way as multiplayer. The only thing that could even count as a story would be if you join some sort of a league and try to become the best player, but that has nothing to do with the game directly so this section will be left alone.
DEPTH 10/10
Oh boy does this game have a lot of depth. First you have the different game modes. You have deathmatch, Arms, Demolition, Casual, and you have Competitive which can be split into Bomb Scenario and Hostage Scenario. All of those can be played offline with bots or against others, so right off the bat, that’s a lot to offer. Beyond the game mode, you have the amount of maps that you can choose from which is more than two dozen, and some of them are HUGE. Beyond that, you have the choice of weapon which is probably the biggest part about the game. You have more than a dozen different types of guns, then you have plenty of different skins for each gun, and I mean plenty, some can have like 10 or more official skins, and then each weapon skin has its own “usage” state, so like new, used, scarred, and a few others. When you put all those together, you have one jam packed game and overall, depth is going to get another perfect 10 out of 10.
DIFFICULTY 5
The game can be difficult, especially when you first start out, and defiently when you are playing online because who knows, you might end up playing against someone who has many years of experience while you’re still trying to decide which gun is better. However, with a little practice, the game becomes easy, all you need to do is start playing against bots, and soon enough you will be getting 50 kills and less than 10 deaths against them and then you will start playing better when you are up against real people. But still, even if you become the one with so much experience, there’s going to be plenty of real players that are just so good, and there isn’t really anything that you can do to protect yourself from that and for that, the grade for difficulty is going to be a 5.
OVERALL 9.5/10
I’m not going to lie, this is easily one of the 3 best PC games that I have ever played alongside Minecraft and One Finger Death Punch and it could easily be the most addicting of them as well. It’s just so much fun and once you give the game a try, there is no giving up because you will be hooked so if you like FPS games, I really think that you should give it a try, the game is only $15 and that’s a steal for a game that has this much stuff to offer you. Overall, the game was a blast, one of the best and for a grade, it’s not worth anything less than a 9.5 out of 10.
