I'm not entirely sure if this is where I would put this discussion for all of us to debate and talk about, but I just want to bring it up. Remember when back in the day Square Enix made some very good games and some impressive story driven games? Remember how they wasn't always interested in milking Final Fantasy for what it's worth? Now don't misunderstand me, I still like the company as a whole. They made very good and classical games. A lot of them really impressive, and a lot of them worth talking about, and even saying how some are the best made of all time, and with FF7 getting a digital re mastering, I'm more then ready to play!

But...the thing is...Square Enix has just lost a lot of what made them nice. And it just confuses me.

Now I'm sure there are a lot of people who would probably agree and many more who would disagree, but what happened to Square? What happened to our beloved RPG gaming company? Are they running out of ideas? Are they dry when it comes to what else to make? I have heard from many people that Square Enix CEO is thinking of calling it quits. The games just doesn't have the feel anymore you know?

Remember when FF7 first came out? That was exciting! Thrilling! It made saving and buying it so much worth if for me. But then I play FF13, FF13-2, and FF 13 Lightning Returns, and I just think to myself...why? Why is this happening? Has Square Enix just given up? Do they care anymore? Has the thought of money overcome their ambitions to make and create games worth wile? Worth talking about?

This is an open discussion for all of my fellow gamers, and I want all of you to really think on it. For this one, there is no wrong answer. What is your theory? Do you think SE has lost their touch? Or maybe they are fooling us and about to release a show stopper? Who knows.

And hey, while we are on the subject, what's your favorite game from Square, and most hated?

With that, talk it out and keep gaming friends.

Yeah....I have to agree. Square Enix has lost their touch of making what a true final fantasy game meant to be...I stopped playing from final fantasy 13 because the rest beyond that doesn't have any feelings towards it. That's what I also think I think do you even care for the games that you produce anymore? What happened to the love and care that was there to teach us many things about life and whatnot? Its not there anymore as I am sad. That's what made me to stop playing any final fantasy games of today because they are not worth playing.

They need to re route back to how the used to make the games. Then maybe the fans will come back to them. But for now sad to say I am not sure if that was to happen. Not unless we send them a letter I doubt they would read. I cherish what final fantasy games I played in the past. I don't play much games nowadays because I use my free time for other things. I really do hope Square Enix sees what they are doing wrong. For all that I know it may be too late for them anyways....

Well, i don't really know much about Square Enix since I haven't really started playing their games until I was old and I never played any of the older games but I like them. I played FF10, and I do want to play the new one, and I also think they did a great job with Bravely Default. If its about how the games are made, look, and feel, then its not a company thing because every game company does that.

I think FF13 has just given them a bad rap. Check out Bravely Default.

The last Square game I played was Final Fantasy X, and I think that was quite an original game. But when I look at the titles that come out as all those spin-offs from other games... yeah they seem to be losing their originality.

Mecha Leo :

MM 3D was slightly upsetting, in it's bosses remakes, but Gyorg got a lot better. Same for Twinmold. Odolwa was okay. . . . sortof. . . . I do like the original Goht a lot more though.

So yeah, it's not Square Enix, but it is Nintendo. . . I can see why a remake could be so scary. . .

Dark knight of the blackened sun. I am Sword Legion, one of many. My mask is thick, and my armor is strong. All the more necessary in a world such as this. . .

Are you saying this because the Final Fantasy Franchise hasn't been as well as you would hope? I think it is simple because Square Enix is doing more genres and games other than RPG and their FF franchise. Looking back at the list of Square Enix games, there are other games that Square Enix made recently that are pretty well received: Sleeping Dogs, Life is Strange, Tomb Raider, Just Cause, etc. Sure, you can possibly criticize them on their focus on milking the Call of Duty franchise, and that can be a possible reason that you would complain about their downward direction in final fantasy standards, but I wouldn't say that the company as a whole is heading down. It's more because they are spreading their talents to other projects, and that might lower the standards of Final Fantasy.

Yeah, the last truly great Final Fantasy game they made was X. Everything after that just hasn't been the same. Square Enix has made some great RPG's since then though, such as Bravely Default. That game proves they still have what it takes to create a great RPG.

Sword legion : I liked the original Goht more as well. I don't like the whole eyeball thing it's really creepy. Than again you always find something creepy in a Zelda game. But I did like how you could see the puff of gas come out from the eyeball, and form the shape of Majora's mask. That was pretty cool to see every time you beat the bosses.

Square wanted to try something new with Final Fantasy XIII and the game just came out feeling rushed, limited and just down right confusing. The sequels made little improvements but even those games weren't that great. At least Lightning Return's ended the series with an ending that made sense. It would be nice for Final Fantasy to go back to it's roots. We will just have to wait and see how Final Fantasy XV turns out when it's released. I believe that the direction and reputation of the Final Fantasy franchise hinge on the outcome of XV. It will be truly disappointing if this game turned out to be another Final Fantasy XIII. At least Square Enix is finally giving the fan's a remake of Final Fantasy VII. * thumbs up *

I remember back than I use to get excited every time I saw a Square Enix game being displayed in game stores. I would try to buy as many as I could. Games like Infinite Undiscovery, Nier, Star Ocean: The Last Hope and The Last Remnant. Overtime I slowed down in buying their RPG's because of the lack of quality. I got tired of waiting for the release of Kingdom Hearts 3 and Final Fantasy XIII Verses ( now called Final Fantasy XV ), the two games I have been waiting for over 6 years. So I became uninterested and I stopped buying Square Enix games in general.

Today, Kingdom Hearts III and Final Fantasy XV are the only games I will buy since Square is finally showing some progress in creating them. Maybe someday I'll try Bravely Default and some other games they made like Deus Ex. But right now I am just waiting for for those two games and we will see what happens from there. For now I'll just be enjoying the beautiful sound tracks from past Final Fantasy games.

Square is still making quality games, they just aren't Square or Enix games. Most of their quality titles over the past few years have been Eidos IPs. As to why Final Fantasy games aren't good anymore, that's hard to say. It's possible that Square just doesn't care anymore, but it seems more likely that we older Square fans have just been left behind. FF13 and its sequels had a sizable following, and I think that we're just in the minority that didn't like it. For what it's worth, their other RPG series are still very good. FF14 has a large following and is considered very good post-reboot, Chaos Rings is one of the best video game experiences on mobile, and Bravely Default is a wonderful throwback. I would like to say that Dragon Quest is still worthwhile, but I wouldn't know because Square hasn't localized it anywhere for some reason. If you can stand playing in Japanese then Dragon Quest X is a solid MMO.
