Here's a new position available on Vizzed Board, RGR Staff.

The RGR Staff has a different role than Forum staff, the RGR Staff is in charge of the Retro Game Room and help out with it. RGR staff responsibilities will differ from each other, one RGR Staff member might have the primary goal of bug testing stuff for me, another might have the goal of gathering images and content for the games, and another may be in charge of writing up reviews for games. I'm not sure how many RGR Staff members I plan to hire but the amount will probably be based on how many qualified registrants there are.

Anyways, here's a few different roles an RGR Staff Member may have:
1. Chat Police. I would make a page that shows all the most recent chats or the RGR game pages and if the RGR Staff sees abuse, they'd be able to delete the chats, give a warning and report the user.

2. Image And/Or Content Adder. With this power level, you'd be able to not only add info but also edit info on the games. Currently trusted members can add info but not edit, only staff members can edit and remove info.

3. Bug Tester. In the RGR Staff Forum, I'd post a thread in there telling them what to test out and they would be expected to test out whatever I post within a day or 2.

4. RGR Support. This user would be responsible to helping out others who are having problems with the RGR games. If a game is reported not working, RGR Staff would take it upon themselves to try and get it to work.

5. Game Testers. Responsibility of just checking to see which games work and in what emulator they work in and to report what error they get.

6. Game Reviews. I plan to add 2 new features to the RGR Staff called 'Game of the Week' (a spotlight for really good games) and 'Random Game of the Day' (a spotlight for random games). RGR Game Reviewers would be responsible to reviewing at least 3 games a week and the user must play the game for at least an hour and review should be at very minimum, 3 paragraphs and should be detailed and explain what the game is about and why it's a good or bad game. This position requires very VERY good grammar and someone who is good at reviewing things fairly. This is the only position that requires you to write up a review of one of the RGR games and submit your review to this thread to show me an example of your review quality.

7. Hacked Game Reviewer. Basically this role is dedicated to just getting info for all the hacked games in the RGR. For each hacked game, you would work on getting info for them and if the info isn't available anywhere, you would have to play the game yourself and type up info about the game. You'd also be responsible for getting screenshots of each game, if you couldn't find the screenshots on the internet, you'd be in charge of taking them. Basically you need to know a lot about rom hacking for this position. With this position, you can also find good hacks that the RGR doesn't have and help me add them.

So anyways, if you're interested in an RGR Staff Position, please reply by saying which of the 6 roles you'd like and why you deserve each role. Also note that all RGR Staff members will be given a free laptop item (in the item shop, not a real laptop) which lets you play all RGR games for free. Some will also be given Viz based on how much work they do.

I'll be one of the game testers, but I can only do it on weekends.

The rest of the week, i'm on my DSi, like now, and I can't play any games on it.

You guys sorta have to persuade me. Would you go to a job interview and simply tell them you want the job and than walk out and expect them to hire you?

Well, I would be willing to do all of these, but as I've stated before in another thread, I'm not too sure about how great a reviewer I would be, but I would give it a shot, and I'm not too sure about how great I would be on trying to fix games that don't work, but I would be willing to give that a shot also.

I'm not too sure about deserving any of these positions, but I would be willing and able to do my best at them. If you want to give me just one specific job I would be OK with that, but I would prefer it if i could do them all. As you can see, I have perfect grammar when the situation calls for it, and perfect spelling all the time. I just don't usually have grammar because I'm too lazy xD

Chronobis: You've done a great job at testing games for me, maybe you could continue to test games and test future plugins for bugs. But if you're interested in the reviewing, give it a shot, type up a review of any game you really like in the RGR and we'll find out whether you're reviews are the quality I'm looking for.

EDIT: I added another role, see role 7: Hacked Game Reviews

I will try out for 2 jobs (but you pick one) : game reviewer and bug tester .

Game revierer : I will review the game "Sonic 3" as a sample :

Sonic 3 , a fun and classic game , its fun dashing though the levels while trying to destory the badniks and free animals .

One of my favorite games , one reason is the spin dash , using this right will boost Sonic (or Tails) , making them faster .

One of my favorite levels in this game is ice cap zone , all the traps and the awesome music makes this a very fun level , a snowy level but it has alot of routes in the 2ed act , all the routes are fun however some are too easy and others are too long .

One new feature is to "play" as Tails , unlike Sonic 2 when he is a clone of sonic , you can now use his flying , making hard to reach places easy to get to , a good choice for people who just started playing Sonic (or people who suck at Sonic games) .

The bosses of this game can be really hard as you get towards the end of the game , however can be really fun .

This game has the feature to save , good for people dieing all the time .

The 16-bit graphics of this game is very nice to look at , making most of the levels colourful and lovely .

The music of this game is very good , and you won't get bored from most of the themes .

The level design is well made , therefore you won't get bored from playing the game as there are alot of routes .

Gameplay : Really fun controls , spin dashing rules and collecting rings rules too
So let me give my final rating :

Music 10/10
Graphics : 9/10
Level design 8/10
Gameplay 9/10
Controls 7/10 (Going super is not easy to avoid if you got all 7 chaos emeralds and 50 rings)

Overall : 8-9 /10.

Now bug tester : easy , just run to the spot and test (and I am very active on this site so I can do it as soon as I see it ) .

I dunno which one will it be , you choose .

I want to be a game tester because I want to be a beta tester when I grow up, and this would give me some good experience on it.

Also, because I like to play games, and I would get paid to do what I do best.

I would be a good game tester also because I had some experience with old games too. I currently have a PS2, a SNES, and an N64, and I play them almost every day before school, especially the SNES.

But like I said, I can only test out games on the weekends because i'm on my DSi, like now, for the rest of the week and I can't play games on it. I wish it could, but it can't be helped.

Thats what I meant by getting paid.

The real money won't come in until i'm older, when I get my real job as a beta tester.

I think I could be a game tester. I'm on here quite a bit, and my schedule throughout the day is sufficiently spaced out so that I can check in and test the games about every two hours. And I'd much rather be doing this than homework. Just so that I am sure that I understand, this job is just to check that the game functions, and not to rate/review it, correct?

Maniac Mansion review for David

Maniac Mansion could be one of my favorite games of all time, and it's really fascinating gem for the NES. It's one of the few NES games that really can make the adventure genre right. So what do I like about this game? Apart from the clever humor, multiple endings, and being able to kill your own characters, it might be some of the actions you can do in the game.

The game starts off with the mad Edison family kidnapping a girl named Sandy for an experiment about sucking brains out. Dr. Edison wasn't always mad, a meteor crashed near him and took control of his mind. But what Ed doesn't know is, that Sandy's boyfreind Dave has gotten a few of his college friends to take her back. And now they have to explore through a Victorian Mansion guarded by tentacles to rescue Sandy back.

The game sets up like a point and click style game in which you pick 2 out of the 6 characters of the game. Some of the characters include the nerd Bernard, the punk rockers Syd and Razor, or the surfer dude Jeff. When you play as one, you automatically take control of them or you can just switch back to the other two characters. And you can get a lot of different situations from it, for example one of the characters Michael can only make films for Dr Ed, while only Bernard and Jeff can fix the radio. The game is also one of the pioneers for cut-scenes which happen during some moments during the game.

The graphics and music are alright for 1990 standards, but I really find that graphics and music don't really make a game better.

Some of the great parts of the game are the wacky endings and choices in the game. You can put a hamster in a microwave and collect the guts from the hamster and give it to Ed's son and see his hillarious reaction, you can make the meteor become famous from a contract, turn off the nuclear reactor and blow up the whole house, or just send the meteor off into space.

Maniac Mansion is a great example of a point and click adventure games, it delivers everything good and makes you laugh your ass off. That's why it should be in the Game of the Week.

Everything is available, I actually want each role to be taken by more than 1 person (and there is no limit for reviewer).
