This game is simply wonderful. There is much to be enjoyed from simply sitting down and playing an original fan made game such as this one, and I particularly enjoyed the overall feel to the game, so much so that I decided to review it, which is something I would not normally do.
Graphics: I love the look of this game, I really do. The colours, the level design, the enemies... Everything about it just looks fantastic. This game is clearly a hack of Super Mario World but it feels and plays just slightly differently and that is enough to make it stand out. Mario looks different, Yoshi looks different, the backgrounds and obstacles in the levels have all been made brilliantly: All of it is simply amazing. And that's about it really. 10.
Sound: Don't get me wrong, I am a massive fan of newer Mario music rendered on a 16-Bit sound font, and that is how some of the games soundtrack was made. There is just something about how this music sounds on the Super Nintendo that just makes me smile. The game even has rendered music from other games as well - Most notably Stone Tower from The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, and it's little touches of nostalgia like this that make me love this games music. Oh, and there is completely original music for the majority of the levels, all of which sound like they could genuinely be in a Mario game. 10.
Addictiveness: I just can't stop playing this game. Ever since I was a child I have wanted to play a game that was basically Super Mario World (Which remains one of my favourite games of all time) but with different features and new levels, and I know I'm going to be playing and replaying this masterpiece of a ROM hack. Just like the game it's based off of, there are numerous secrets that can be discovered, usually with the reward of another level. Finding all of these secrets is my goal for this game and I won't stop playing it until I do. 10.
Story: There isn't really much to say about this. Bowser has taken over the mushroom kingdom. Are we surprised? Not really. But as this is a Mario game, the story can be as simple as you want it to be, and it will still draw you in until the end. 9.
Depth: As I mentioned before, there are numerous secrets in this game, and I'd say you only need to play through 60% of the game in order to finish it, whereas finding all the secret exits and switch zones are rewards of their own right. Each world has a fair amount of levels, and that is not counting all the hidden ones, so there is always something to do in this game if it hints towards a secret that you haven't unlocked yet. 10.
Difficulty: As Mario games are generally quite easy compared to other games, there is usually a steady curve of difficulty increase as you progress through each world. This game surprised me in how many times I died in comparison to other Mario games I have played. Had I not been using Save States I would have gotten many Game Overs. I liked how hard this game got towards the end, it made me really feel like I was on my way to fight a Final Boss. Or perhaps that is just because I have blazed through Super Mario World enough times to not get frustrated even in Tubular. 7.
Overall: Everything is great. If there was a proper story then this would get a 10 but I think my rating of 9.9 is very fair.
