My opinion falls around the lines of what Triune said. Honestly it's just offensive and that's it. I mean I can't say whether or not when black people say it, it's bad or not because I'm white but either way it falls under the same lines of what all white people did to black people ages ago and so on... it's  basically an insult. I have never used that term myself but I am around people who do and honestly it sickens me because we are all the same people color doesn't matter and using a term like n!gger is basically like calling a white person 'other' names that I won't mention.

Because I've seen people get really mad when it's not used in a bad way. Or kinda like that South Park episode, where Randy said it on TV because he thought it the end of a sentence in Wheel of Fortune. People got mad at him, even though he wasn't insulting anyone.

Even I'm not 100% certain, but growing up around the hip-hop crowd, I know some "intricacies" of the word's use.

There's a difference between saying "n*****", and "nigga". Whereas the former would be seen as hearkening back to the era of slavery (especially if said by a white person), the latter acts as a sort of term of affection. Even still, if you're white saying either is a risky move.

I personally think this presents an absurd double standard. I don't understand the whole slavery argument either- it ended oh so long ago and much has been done to try and emancipate the victims.
