First, there is a reason why I'm putting this in the "Emulator Help." It's because all these "Emulator Closed" problems became prevalent with plugins 2.25 and 2.30. At this point, it's clear that updates 2.25 and 2.30 are buggy. Games try to load, and then bang... "Emulator Closed." (I use Firefox on Windows Vista. Yes, I've uninstalled and reinstalled more than once for both versions. It doesn't help, and I never really had the "Emulator Closed" problem with previous Vizzed plugin versions.)
As a side note, before I go further, it's a real bummer that other previous plugins were once still available, but have now been blocked as an alternative. Vizzed plugin 2.11 was a stable, consistent, and reliable version, and is no longer available for use. It'd be nice to still utilize those previous plugins, until the kinks of 2.25 and 2.30 get fixed.
Anyways, I'd like to help, so, I went and checked out the info Vizzed is showing for the reason the
emulator routinely closes on many games, now. I loaded up the MAME version "Killer Instinct." This is a popular, commonly played game, and it was rarely, if ever, a game that had any problems with the previous Vizzed plugins. I found the following data information in the
"PluginLog" my computer keeps track of, from the initial mouse click to start the emulator to the closing...
07/27 07:25:02 PM - (BROWSER): Starting Emulator (kinst). 07/27 07:25:03 PM - ( INFO ): Final emulator startup cmdline: 07/27 07:25:03 PM - ( INFO ): mame.exe -rompath C:ProgramDataVizzedVizzedRgrPluginRoms -cfg_directory C:ProgramDataVizzedVizzedRgrPluginUser-193422MAME -inipath C:ProgramDataVizzedVizzedRgrPluginUser-193422MAME -hashpath "C:Program FilesVizzedVizzed Retro Game Roomhash" -samplepath C:ProgramDataVizzedVizzedRgrPluginMameSampleZips -cheatpath "C:Program FilesVizzedVizzed Retro Game Roomcheatpath" -hlslpath "C:Program FilesVizzedVizzed Retro Game Roomhlsl" kinst -window -skip_gameinfo -resolution 640x480 -natural -video d3d -prescale 3 07/27 07:25:03 PM - (BROWSER): Emulator Loaded. 07/27 07:25:03 PM - ( INFO ): Loading layout file: (null) 07/27 07:25:03 PM - ( INFO ): Loading layout file: (null) 07/27 07:25:03 PM - ( INFO ): Syncing local emulator romset with servers: kinst 07/27 07:25:03 PM - ( INFO ): Failed to download romset. 07/27 07:25:04 PM - ( ERROR ): kinst.chd NOT FOUND 07/27 07:25:04 PM - ( ERROR ): FATALERROR: Required files are missing, the game cannot be run. 07/27 07:25:04 PM - (BROWSER): Emulator Closed.
The most interesting lines are the "Failed to download romset" and "ERROR" ones; (kinst.chd NOT FOUND)
I'm hoping this post doesn't get brushed off as a "Nobody else seems to be having those issues," or "Well, there's just a problem with that one game." I think it's become clear that 2.25 and 2.30 have a major issue with not loading games properly.
Additionally, it would be nice if the other previous versions, (i.e. plugin 2.11,) could be made available, again, until another update is made.
Thanks for taking the time to read. Please respond, if you have any info or answers. -MeatAndPotatoes First, there is a reason why I'm putting this in the "Emulator Help."
