My 2DS wont connect to the internet any more... AT ALL. No eshop, no playing online or updates, no anything. It worked fine on my old internet but now on my new internet, it doesn't work anymore, or anywhere else for that matter.

I can't connect to my own internet which at the same time, my other devices were connected to and working fine, and it won't connect to any free hotspots. Wont connect or even detect the hotspots at work, school, library, mcdonalds, or even the subway internet which is faster than my own.

When I'm trying to do the test, it doesn't connect, but if I leave it alone for a while, it will connect but only for a couple of seconds before disconnecting again. I watched the screen for about 20 seconds once and watched it connect and disconnect about 4 times.

Does this happen normally with the 2DS? Do you have any suggestions on what's going on or what I could do to fix this?

Something like this did happen once before on my old internet but in a place that had really bad connection in general.

Make sure the internet is activated on the 2DS. There actually is an option to disable internet connections so make sure it's enabled in case you accidentally disabled it.

Davideo7 : It id activated, and it does connect, but for no more than 3 seconds at a time.

zanderlex : Have you tried messing with the switch on the side?  I'm not sure if a 2DS is the same, but a 3DS has a slider near the bottom.  Pushing it up once can turn internet connections off/on.  Maybe experimenting with that can fix it?

supernerd117 : It's not a problem with connecting to the internet, it's more staying on for more than 3 seconds at a time every minute.

Things have gotten worse so far, I've still been trying to connect so I can do the update to play Smash and all of a sudden all of the save data for all my games were erased. Should I get a new system or try something else?

   As for help, it might be your 2DS, that's the problem. I actually went to check my 2DS, to see if I had problems connecting to the internet, but mine is working fine. I hope it's just temporary, so you don't have to wait weeks for a fixed one, or even worse, have to buy another one.

F.Starr: I don't think there was a thread that got me to buy it. I just bought it when David sold it. I think it's already long passed temporary, Pokemon Shuffle has been downloading for 3 weeks now and it's at 1 percent.

I'm thinking that there is something that you are missing regarding connecting to the internet, but since I don't own a 2DS its hard for me to troubleshoot it.

If not and your 2DS is still within 30 days or so old, you could just exchange it for another one from wherever you purchased it.

Jordanv78 : I bought it from David so exchanging it would be a problem, but it was brand new and worked for like 3 days.

The internet adapter inside your 2DS may be ruptured.
