I am nearly 32, but I absolutely do not feel like it. I am in a better shape than I ever was, I am older than my waist size (a happy "problem" in the US since size 29 pants are VERY hard to find) and I look better than I did 10 years ago.

Nevertheless, I do not "look" as I did 10 years ago. Wrinkles start to show up - they do starting at age 23 or 24 - and I feel like it is adding a few years more. I use face scrubs and cream, but it does not seem very effective so far...

Also - although it does not trouble me at the moment - white hair start appearing. It would be unavoidable since my mom's parents were completely white by age 40, but I think I might accept it as my mom does. She will be 59 and gracefully looks like it, without and hair dying or cosmetic surgery.

What about you? Are you/will you try to hide your age, or will you accept it as it comes?

Hmm, honestly I haven't thought about this very much. I think at some point when I'm much older, I may possibly try to hide wrinkles, but at the same time, I don't even care about shaving my mustache and beard, so I may be the same way with wrinkles. If I start losing hair, then I'll likely go bald and get it out of the way. If my hair just starts going grey, then won't do anything with it, unless I start losing hair.

I am in no way old, I'm just 16, but I can tell you now that when I do begin to age I will not try to hide it. Everyone gets old and I think it's better to just accept it than to spend lots of time and money trying to prevent it or hide it.

I'll probably accept it though it's a while until it happens most likely. I don't want to let my age stop me from enjoying the things I like, granted though I'm not gonna pretend I'll have the same exact interests 20 years from now, they'll probably change but hopefully not too much.

Doubt I'll go bald in a long time, if anything I've had a problem with my hair growing really fast meaning I constantly have to go to the barber so that's at least something I probably wont have to think about XD

Either way age has never really been a huge concerne of mine, just enjoying life as it comes right now, eventually I'll grow old but my goal is to not have any major regrets by then.

Sometimes I've wanted to hide my acne to prevent people from seeing that as I grow older and have problems with acne. But when I start growing older and getting wrinkles, gray hair, and other things, I'm positive I won't try to hide it all the time. I will have much better, and much more, things to worry about.

Plus I don't like people mistaking my age. It seems that almost everyone guesses I'm at least a year younger than I really am and it annoys me XD

Getting old is just something none of us can avoid. No point in trying to avoid it. I just hope it doesn't happen early compared to other people.

janus : Soon I'll have nine years on you pal. I've actually always had a bit of a baby face....until the last few years. I'll tell you what though, I would take all of your gray hairs in a second. Consider yourself lucky in that regard. I started losing mine in my early 20s and it was gone by the time I was your age. Pretty much all the other aspects of getting older I can handle, except for that. I still wear a hat most of the time. Call me vain. But I think that until it's you, I would reserve judgement. Do people judge a woman who wears makeup? Anyways, I think it's a little different for men. But, never having been a woman, I can't say for certain. I stopped caring about my age about 5 years ago really. If anything, it's a celebration of survival. This year on my birthday I get to drive 50 miles to consult with a pulmonologist. It was easier for me to remember the appointment that way I figured.

Ferdinand : I know gray hair can be treacherous. I have an uncle (born in 1959) whom I always remember as having gray hair. However, outside a few wrinkles around his eyes (and when he shaved his silver mustache) he has a baby face. He even got student reduction at a ski resort once because his toque hid his hair (he was in his 40s). So it was quite a laugh when he got senior discount in a restaurant about 5 years ago

Besides I think gray hair is sexy. While straight guys have cougars, gay guys have "silver foxes" and there are many eye candy among them. When you take care of your body and health you can definitely look younger. I was shoked to learn that this biology professor I once had was 47 when I though she was AT MOST 42 - I would have given her 37 or under had I not know she was a professor.

gamerforlifeforever2 : I have similar thoughts (I grow a full beard) when it comes to hide my hollow cheeks during my internships - I do not eat as much because I am on a tight budget and my metabolism is still quite high. Plus, it helps me look older next to my husband who is older - some people think he is my father and I hate it

tgags123 : That is true. However it might be understandable for some who age prematurely to try to hide it. I mean, I am not sure how I would react if my hair became completely white in an instant.

PacmanandMariofan : you are only 15 dude. If you are unlucky like I was, you will likely need Acutane to get rid of it... at the expense of a very dry skin. As for age-guessing: you will like when people underestimate your age . Many think I'm 5-6 years younger than I truly am. However there is a trick for a rough estimate: starting at age 23-24 people start having lines on their foreheads. I developed that trick to estimate customers' age when they wanted to buy restricted products.

Yeah, I don't like people underestimating my age now, but when I'm 30+ years old, I'm pretty sure I will XD I have to use Ziana at night, Cetaphil in the morning, and another thing to apply to my face in the afternoon for my acne. If that isn't unlucky with acne I don't know what is

I also have very dry skin if I use all those products for a week straight, so sometimes I take a 1-2 day break and use lotion to get rid of the dryness. Ugh...

Because of my attitude and vocabulary, many people thinks from the get-go I'm like +30, while I'm nearly 10 years younger than that. Blame my parents for the great age gap between me and all my other family members that made me live a generation I shouldn't have lived.

I will accept my age, as I have accepted many other things in my life. Hiding it is like tricking myself, which goes again my life motto of "always be yourself". Maybe, only maybe, I can dye my hair, but that's something I've always thought off thanks to anime (and my own craziness, that is).

PacmanandMariofan : I found crams against acnea to be ineffective (my sister had the problem too). They merely treat your face rather than the underlying problem of acnea, i.e. hyperactive hormones. They are usually alcohol-based, hence the dry skin (my sister used one that almost had an intoxicating smell when she used it)
If you can talk to your doctor about Mynocyn (?) or, if your problem is VERY serious, Acutane. The latter one if what did the trick for my sister and I. It's pretty strong stuff - and you ABSOLUTELY can't get/get someone pregnant - but it's highly effective.

EX Palen : same thing on my side. As my father said, I age psychologically quicker (I had my first and only serious relationship starting at age 23), probably because I was a loner . So are you going to be a middle-aged man with blue hair

janus: In my case, I am going to accept my age as it comes. I just turned 28 last week, and I am still constantly being told by people that I still have that "baby face." People walk into my shop and with some of them, the first thing they ask me is "how old are you?" They think I'm in my early 20s still like 21 or 22 years old. It actually kind of p-es me off a little...

Anyways, I still haven't noticed any wrinkles so I guess I'm doing pretty good for my age. And as far as pant size, I'm a 32 so I guess my age hasn't quite caught up with my pant size just yet lol

My parents are going to schedule an appointment very soon for me about my acne. It's obviously getting better, but the dry skin problem isn't. Thankfully it doesn't last more than a day or 2 if I use lotion on the dry areas of my face.

Something similar to this happened with a previous acne treatment I used, and they switched me to a much better one that doesn't dry my skin at all. I think the same thing will happen to me this time. It's only because of one of the acne treatments (the one that doesn't really have a name) that my face gets dry. The other 2 are fine.

MattyIce : I know this gets annoying, especially in the US. There seems to be this paranoia around underage drinking that doesn't exist in Canada. I'm turning 32 in less than a week, have a beard and STILL get IDed.

However, were I to look at you, I'm pretty sure I could see the lines (fine as they may be) that would make you older than 24. As for pant size: let's say that I take exceptional care of my health (eating pretty much the same thing everyday). I'm not calling you negligent or anything; it's just that I'm pretty much an outlier when it comes to food

I will be thirty five this year and I still get asked for ID, people think I will be trouble and I get treated like a kid by people ten years my junior. Oh well. Some say I should be flattered. Should I really? I have never wanted to hide how old I am or pretend like I am a kid. But sometimes it is really weird when I think some kid actually thinks I have more life in me than they do, even if I thought of myself as a hundred years old when I was 15.

I wasted years twenty through twenty six wishing I was younger. Finally I just accepted my age and I'm so glad I did as it allowed me to finally start enjoying life again. Really we see people trying all the time to deny their aging by using creams and hair dyes, and all sorts of stuff. But why? What's so shameful about getting older? It literally happens to everyone.

So yeah, I say just accept. In fact, many old civilizations considered it a good thing (sure enough beats the alternative anyway) and I can see why. The older you get, the more you learn. Hey, maybe by the time we're forty we'll have half a clue finally. xD And here's to hoping for a whole one by age sixty.
