Have you ever lost money that someone handed to you? What happened later as a result of it? Did anyone ever find it?

For me, I've done this at least once before. My parents handed me around $20 to use when I was hanging out with my uncle, and it fell out of my pocket without me realizing it. When I got home and confessed to my parents that I lost it, they didn't punish me but they were pretty upset. My uncle found it in his car later, so he asked us if it was our money and we got it back. My parents kept it XD

As one of the users on here that has a job irl, I have lose a bit of money here and there, but it isn't much though, the most I have lost at once is around $20. Normally, I don't carry more than $100 on me for that pure reason, and if I have between $21-$100, I always keep an eye on that cash, and if I wanted to spend anything above $100, it has to be on my debit card.

I only remember it happening at two separate occasions. Once when I was really young and was going out to run an errand for my mom to buy something and I remember losing a 500kr bill which I think is worth like 60 dollars.

And then another time like a year ago now when I was going to start going to the gym and I actually lost the money I was going to buy gym membership for (no that wasn't on purpose :p), which I kept looking for a whole 60 minutes or so before finally going home and my mom ending up being completely pissed off at me.

Generally though I'm pretty careful as far as money go so I rarely lose it.

IgorBird122 : My mom, also for that reason, doesn't let me have a lot of money in my wallet at once. When I have to have a ton of money, for example, I had to have well over $100 for my trip to Chicago with my youth group, she only lets me have $70 or so in my wallet and the other money kept in another really safe place.

Zlinqx : Oh wow. Now I'm grateful for what happened to me, since it wasn't so bad!

Luckily, the only time I actually lost money that someone handed to me was when a penny just slipped out of my pocket and the penny fell in mud on the floor outside. (I didn't pick it up lol)

It was simply when my parents gave me money to buy chips when I was young and then the cashier gave me back change for a dollar all in nickels and pennies.

Other than that, I don't recall losing any money I guess. I never really take more than $20 on my pocket unless I really need more money to buy something.

mohammedroxx3 : You were very lucky it was just a penny Most people lose dollar bills, or multiple dollar bills, it seems. Giving you change for a dollar in nickels and pennies is pretty inconvenient...

$20 in your pocket... cue the music.

I couldn't even tell you how many times I've lost money. I once lost my wallet shortly after getting paid with over $300 in it. That really sucked. For that much money you'd think they could have at least dropped it empty into a mailbox...but no. Never seen again. Karma will get them. I think that's about the most I've ever lost at once.

This will happen at times when I get change back from a store, I will put it in ny pocket and then I just can't find it anymore when I need it again.

Ferdinand : Whoa. Hopefully that will always be the most you've lost at once.

Luckily, I have shorts that have buttoned pockets, so I put my wallet in my pocket and then button it shut, so I don't lose money as much as I used to. Sometimes I forget to button the pocket and I lose a few coins though... I don't notice when it happens but I notice afterward.

Yes I have and it happened recently actually.

I asked my dad if I can borrow $ 40 so I can buy some Copic markers. I wanted to color in my finished drawings.

The following day my dad finally said yes and I was so happy that I was finally going to buy some Copic's. When I was about to take the train downtown to Manhattan I notice that I didn't have the $40 with me and I started to panic. I went back home and couldn't find the money so I had to sell 4 of my video games at Game Stop to make back the money I have lost. Would have been easier to deal with the problem if I still had money left over form my paycheck. I had already given the rest of my money to my mom cause she needed it to buy medicine for her back.

After my little incident I decided not to buy the markers and gave the $40 back to my dad. I didn't want to lose the money again.

Yeah, this happened like a month ago. I asked my friend to give me some money so I could print some documents at school. The money must have slipped out of my pocket without me noticing. Luckily she wasn't mad and I gave it back the next day.

Two years ago, I was going to a football game, and I had $40 with me from my mom to try to pay for everybody's food and whatnot. Somehow, I left it on a shuttle bus we took to the field. Luckily, as we were going up to the door, somebody came running after us with the money, and returned it. I was very thankful that I didn't lose that, because after I eventually didn't buy anything, trying to explain how that happened wouldn't have ended well for me.

patar4097 : It was very nice of them to return your money to you! I really wouldn't like to explain how I lost $40 like that either. Thank goodness you didn't have to.

When I lost money in my uncle's car, my parents asked me about the money so I had no choice but to confess that I lost it. I didn't get in trouble but I felt like I really let them down.

Luckily I don't specifically remember any time that I lost ANY significant money (more than some change anyways) I know for a fact that if someone gave me money to hold on to, I would take EXTRA care of it. Just because it wasn't mine and I would feel EVEN MORE horrible for losing someone ELSES money.

Fortunately for me, I never lose any money that someone hands me. When I get money, I always put it in my pocket, so that there's no way that I'll lose it. My money never falls out of my pocket because my pants have no holes in them, and if they somehow do get a hole in that area, I get rid of them, plain and simple.

gamerforlifeforever2 : Money is a very important thing to keep safe, so it's great that you manage to keep it safe in your pocket all the time! I try to keep money in my pocket all the time, but sometimes it falls out of my pocket. I have to check once in a while to make sure it's still there.
