This game has a huge map, a ton of challeneges, and an impossible crafting system so here I am to give a few tips, ideas, and some help to make sure that you can get through the game witbhout being eaten hundreds of times. Though this only counts for the PEI map.

When you first start off this game, it can be really tough and that's because of one thing, location. When you first spawn, your location is the single most important factor in whether you will survive or not and without the right kind of location you will find yourself dead within minutes. If you look around your spawn point and it doesn't look like you can get too far from there, then don't even try, just commit suicide and try for a better spawn. Even an experienced player like me has to do this, sometimes I go through a dozen or so different spawns before I even start moving.

The number one thing to look for when you are spawning are zombies. Contrary to what some might think, spawning right away near a zombie is actually a good thing opposed to spawning where there's nothing because it is a way to get a small boost of experience right from the start. Of course, you will only want to keep this spawn point if there's a good amount of zombies because if you spawn where there's maybe one or two of them, then it might just not be worth it and you should just start over.

When you play for the first time, it will be very hard to find things on the map, but once you have played for a while, you will be able to tell where things are in relation to ne another. For example, when I first spawn, I can tell which direction is the road, or a town, regardless of where I spawn, but for somebody who is new, you won't be able to know where any of that is so aside for seeing zombies, the next thing that you need to look for is a road. Most of the time you will spawn by the water, which is a good way to get used to your surroundings because sometimes you can see the campsite, or the bridge, or one of the towns from there right away. You don't want to head towards them right away though because you will be too unprepared, so if you spawn by the water you don't want to go into the water or along the coast, you first want to go directly in the opposite direction of the water.

You want to look for a road for multiple reasons. First, it's the only way to go from one place to another. Sure you can walk around the woods and hope to get somewhere, but the roads directly link one place to another so as long as you find one and follow it, you will find almost every town and site on the map. By getting to a road, you will also be able to get a car, which has a ton of helpful uses.

First off, the car will obviously get you where you need to go a lot faster then walking, but it comes at a price. When you first start the game you might have to go through a few different cars before you find one that actually has enough gas and once this car runs out of gas, you need to find a new one. That's unless you find a gas canister which is one of the most important items that you can have in the game if you want to drive. Having a gas can is the only way to get gas into the car and it takes a while. After you find a gas can, you need to get the gas from gas tanks, there's one in Charolette Town which is one of the southern most towns and is one of the most important towns you can visit, and there's one in one of the farms just north of that town. There's gas tanks in other locations but require a long drive or walk to get them. Once you are at a tank, you need to go to the tank, fill it up, go back to the car and then put the gas in and that only fills up like 18% so you need to do this 5 or 6 times.

Not only do car get you where you need to go, but they are also a great defense as well, but mostly if you find a car that's already broken or one that you don't plan on using. If you are being chased by a bunch of zombies, the best thing that you can do it find a car and jump on top of it because if you stand right in the middle of the car the zombies can't reach you from there. If you have a gun or maybe a sledgehammer, then you can easily kill of the zombies one by one from the top of the car and if the zombies do enough damage to the car while trying to hit you, the car will catch on fire. If you see that the car is on fire, don't do anything, let the zombies keep hitting it because if you are on top of the car when it explodes, you won't get hurt and all of the zombies around it will die, but you won't get any EXP from them this way. The same goes for when you are driving and you hit a zombie, you won't get any EXP but if you are low on health, don't have any good weapons, or have a lot of zombies chasing after you, then running them over is the only thing that you can do.

There's about four towns in the game and the one that you really want to get to is Charolette Town which can only really be described as the town that has a sign on the road that says Vote Big J. This is the town that you need to head for. It has another town one quick drive away, it has two farms just over the hills, really good houses to set up a base in, and amenities like pharmacies, food, gas, police, and fire all clustered in one place. Not to mention that even though the other two towns have more buildings to loot, they are all a really really long drive away. If you were to base in one of the other towns without a car, the only way you can go anywhere else would be at least a 10 minute walk.

When you are playing the game for the first time though, it doesn't matter what town you go to as long as you go through every house and shop looking for tools and supplies. When you first start off the game you can only carry a few items so the first thing that you need to look for is some sort of a backpack o increase your inventory space. One thing that I don't really like about this game is the item generation, one time you might find a few things that you need right at the beginning while another time it might take you an hour just to find your first important item.

Aside for the backpack, there's a few other really important things that you need along with the gas can and the first thing that you need is a Canteen. The canteen will allow you to keep filling it up with water from one of the wells at the farm. This means that you can only drink when you are at a well aside for filling it up one extra time and taking it with you, but it sure does beat having to carry around 4 of 5 different juice boxes. The Canteen is also one of the hardest things that you can find and you need to be really lucky in order to get this. Another necessity is the Sledgehammer, if you can find one of these you are set for life. Depening on your level. the zombie, and the time of day, having one of these can usually lead to a one or two hit kill and is easily the best weapon that you can own in the game, much better than the knife, the Katana, or even a gun. Speaking of guns, you do not ever want to use a gun unless you have one of the really good ones and have a lot of ammo or you are on top of a car like what was mentioned earlier because using a gun is just pointless for a variety of reasons.

First off, I don't think that it's really possible to find a gun that actually has ammo in it, so you might find this cool and powerful gun lying around, and you drop something to make room for it, but you can't even use it, you need to actually find ammo lying on the ground as well so you either need to drop the gun or keep it in your inventory taking up space and hoping tha you find ammo which could take forever. On top of that, every gun has it's own unique bullet like in real life and that makes it almost impossible to use a gun because you could find one ammo box lying on the floor and it doesn't work with the gun that you have, and then you find another and that doesn't work, and then another. Soon enough you will have a gun that you can't use taking up space and three different ammo packs taking up three different slots that you can't even use. It only gets worse from there because once you actually find the right kind of ammo, you only get a handful of bullets. You go through all that work to find yourself some bullets and you can only ire your gun 3 or 4 times and then you're out. But wait, there's more. firing the gun itself is really tough. First off, you need to be close enough to your target that you won't miss it, and yes, depending on the gun, your level, the zombie, and the time of day, you might need to hit them 2 or 3 times before they die. On top of that, the sound of the gunshot will draw all of the other zombies in the area towards you and if you are using a sniper thing or are just aiming, you won't be able to see zombies coming from other directions. On top of that, after you fire, you need to wait a second or two before you can fire again and then when you are reloading you need to wait even longer so it can be really a pain to use a gun and just not worth it.

All in all, if you can find a sledgehammer, you're good but if you cant, then there are a few other weapons that will be almost just as good. You really don't want to use things such as knives, frying pans, and golf clubs unless that's really all that you have and once you find a better weapon it's advised that you switch to that right away. Some weapons that you could do really well with aside for the sledgehammer include the baseball bat, the katana, and the hammer. If you are lucky enough to find these, you could also improvise by using the chainsaw and the blowtorch. You could also use the pick, axe, and fire axe as weapons, but you need these for other aspects of the game so it's best that you don't use these. If you were wondering, the damage of the sledgehammer is a full 100. Only one gun has a damage of at least 100, which is 115, and the 2nd most powerful regular weapon is the fire axe which has a damage of just 70. Just remember that the sledgehammer is quite rare to find so if you do manage to find one, then you need to treasure it forever.

There's only a few other items that you really need at all times. First off you should always make sure that you have enough food, water, and health supplies to last you for a while which is why going to a town and more specifically going to Charolette Town is your best bet. There's a deli and there's also a diner here so you will always be able to stock up on a good amount of food or drinks but when you do this, you want to make sure that you get multiple of the same items because you don't want to take up too much space. Most of the food items are stackable, so it would be much better to go around let a few spawns pass by to get 3 candy bars instead of taking three different food items because you're talking about three slots versus one slot and you don'y have that many slots to begin with. There's also the pharmacy here which will get you all sorts of medical supplies that you need to stock up on such as bandages, vitamins, vaccines, and more. Probably the most important thing that you can have at all is a sleeping bag which will let you spawn at the bag each time that you die. Zombies can destroy these so you should make sure that you put them in a place that can be accessed by only you.The only other things that you really need to have with you at all times are the axe or fire axe and the pickaxe. These are also really rare to find and will be explained a bit more later on.

When you first start off the game, it is impossible for you to build your own house so you need to find a nice house within one of the towns and there does happen to be a perfect house in the middle of Charlette town that I would suggest setting up your base in and it happens to be one of the few accessible house in the entire game that have two floors so you can head upstairs and set up most of the things that you have there as well as a bed. It is possible for you to build up your own little house, but I would not recommend that because in reality, it will take so many house to build and more than a ton of resources. Building up your own house does come with a few perks because if you go through all the trouble and then decide to put in even more effort, then you can build up some excellent defenses to make sure that the zombies can never get to you. But is it really woeth it? If you play the game long enough to get enough resources and have the time to do all this, then yes, you can do it and have a fun time doing it as well but it's not for everybody. Heck, just building up a little crate to put 4 little items into it takes up so much time, im awesome at this game and played more than 20 hours and I still hadn't even put up the floor of a house yet because it's just not that useful. Not only will it take forever to build, but unlike one of the games houses, if a zombie starts punching your wall, it will eventually come down so if you want to be able to live in your own house and not have zombies killing you, then you need to make a complex maze of walls and such, and all of that can be avoided by just living in one of the games houses.

If you really do want to build up your own house then you first need to find an axe and a pickaxe and you need to be aware that you will be living out of one of the games houses for at least a couple of hours before you can start building your own house. Finding these two items will be really hard but once you do, you can start tearing down trees for wood and rocks for rocks. Before you start saving up your supplies for your own house, you need to craft a few small things to make sure that you can survive long enough, such as a campfire to light up the night and keep some zombies away, though of course it won't last long because non affected zombies can destroy them eventually. When you cut down a tree you will get a few logs and a few sticks which can be crafted right away and you can craft a campfire with 5 logs if you are using Unturned 3.0 or 4 sticks and 4 stones on 2.0. Once you have enough logs, there's two things that you need to craft and the first one is a platform which while you are living in one of the games houses, is very important. To get a platform, first you need to craft logs into boards and one log will get you 4 boards. For every two boards that you craft you will get one wooden plate so basically each log gets 2 plates and once you have 3 wooden plates aside, you need to work on a wooden cross. For this you need to craft 2 sticks into 1 wooden support and then you need to craft 2 wooden supports to make 1 wooden cross and then you craft the 3 plates and 1 cross to make a platform. See how hard that is? You essentially need 2 logs and 4 sticks and you need to craft 5 different times to make 1 platform.
The platform can be very useful, especially when you are living in a game house because it is a large raised platform so you can place it down in front of the door to the house and the zombies will not be able to climb on top of it to get to the house, but you can easily get on and off. However, if you are in the house and the zombies see you, then they will start hitting the platform and eventually it will break. The platform is also used as a base and a floor for when you are building your own house as well but if you still need more supplies for walls and such, then it's best to keep everything as logs and sticks after you made this platform instead of crafting more and more because you will never know what you might need. There is one other really important thing that you will need and that's a crate. You only have so many slots in your inventory which also happen to be based on weight, so wouldn't it be nice to have a place to store all of your logs, sticks, and boards? Well if you have enough of those you can start building crates. A crate has 4 slots and can be stacked with a lot of the same items so it's ideal for storing tons of logs and sticks and supports, and whatnot. Crates are pretty easy to make, however you will need to have a level 1 crafting ability to you need to make sure you get enough EXP from all the crafting that you do before you try to make a crate which just needs 2 wooden frames and 3 wooden crosses. Wait that doesn't sound easy does it? For the 3 crosses that's 12 sticks. For the frames you need 2 wooden plates so that's 2 logs. It's kind of worth it, right? 4 items is a lot. If you have a crate already and craft another 3 crosses, you can upgrade your crate into a chest which can then store 6 different items.

If you want to build your own house you will also need to be really patient because you need so many items that you will need to wait for trees and such to re spawn after you knock everything down. You will need a ton of stuff, even if you just want to build a one floor house you are going to need multiple platforms, like maybe 8, a bunch of walls which are just as hard to make, you would need foundations, doorways and doors, pillars, and probably a few windows so in total one house could require you to cut down well more than a hundred trees before you can even start working on it. Plus, if you don't want an immediate threat from zombies coming in, then you might have to make the house even bigger by adding a few platforms that extend from the main door so that it would take a while for them to get to the house. Remember, that's only if you want to build a house that has one floor, but it's possible to build another floor which would be a good idea but only if you have twice or even three times as many resources. Having a second floor would make the house look better, but if you keep all of your crates and your bed at the top, it would be just a little bit harder for zombies to get to them so it's just a bit better on the defensive side of things. Why stop there though?Since I have never built a house I don't really know how high you can build but there's some pretty tall buildings around the game so who knows, maybe you can build 3, 4, or 5 floors but just remember you could need to cut down as many as 100 trees for every floor. That's only if you do wood, if you want to make your house stronger you can do the entire thing but by breaking up rocks which will take even longer to do. Also, what house wouldn't be complete without a few cars, some fences, and maybe even a little farm, all of that can be done as well if you keep getting more and more materials.

If you don't feel like waiting for more trees and stuff to re spawn or are running low on regular supplies like food, drinks, and weapons, then it's time to go out and face the real world. This means that you are going to go into uncharted territory where many more zombies will be waiting to eat you. If you are using your sledgehammer or something strong then you will be fine, however one thing that you really need to know when fighting a zombie is that you can never stand still or you will die. This isn't like Minecraft where you attack a creeper and then they jump back a bit. Nope, whenever you attack a zombie they will get hurt but they won't stop moving towards you so you will always need to be moving backwards as you are attacking them. The same thing goes when you are fighting off zombies that are crawling who are a bit faster then the regular ones and these can be a bit harder to hit because you need to aim the camera just right to reach them without them hitting you.

There's going to be many places for you to explore, some of them will have great things for you to find, and some of them will be just terrible. Two of these places include the campground and the lighthouse and gold course. If you find yourself at the campground you really should just go away because there will always be a few zombies there and sometimes the things that you find might not be that good. Just remember that once you enter, it won't always be a guarantee that you will be able to leave, at least in one piece that is. The lighthouse is pretty cool to search but it's at the end of the golfcourse which is huge and has a few zombies in there so unless you have a car, going through the golf course will be a pain, and you need to do quite some driving just to get from civilization to the golf course in the first place so there's really no point in going here. If you happen to spawn either by the golf course, the lighthouse, or the little area behind the lighthouse, there's no chance for you to survive there whatsoever so you need to re spawn.

The two places that you really need to go to are the Airport and the Military base. Both of these will have a ton of zombies waiting for you and are both at opposite ends of the map and take a while to get to but they are so worth it. Just fighting off all of the zombies in each area will get you a ton of exp and on top of that both areas will have a ton of cool things for you to find. This is one of the places where it's actually quite easy to find a sledgehammer and Katana and other big weapons and you can also find all sorts of health items and many other useful items. There's also three islands that are really cool to explore, one of which is located across the water from the airport, one is located right in the middle of the map, and one of them is hidden away near the farms and charlotte town and one of those islands has a cool secret underground base so make sure to look for those.

That's really all that you need to know to get you through this game, there's going to be a few other cool places littered around the map for you to explore but won't really help much in terms of surviving, so I hope that this helped.
