I am sad that there is so much prejudice that leads to discrimination.

What do you think are the current reasons for the increase in hate?

The prejudice is not neutral as people end up hurt?

Prejudice is very useful. I pre-judge wet electrical wires to be dangerous. I pre-judge busy intersections to be dangerous. I pre-judge what is food and what is not food. I pre-judge an angry man as more likely to be violent than an angry woman. I pre-judge that a car on the road swerving is under the control of a drunk driver.

The problem is when people take this pattern recognition skill, which is perfectly valid and useful, and apply it where they shouldn't. Thus, racism, sexism, and like like exist.

Prejudice (against other humans) comes from ignorance. I remember back in primary school when there was this unique black guy - he was literally the only one among over 450 people in the whole school. It was rather unusual in my neighborhood since it's about 99% white. I called him Blacky but with absolutely no ill intentions.

Even today I have to try an fight prejudices I still have especially when it comes to politics. When people say certain things I need to stop and try to find WHY that person thinks that way. Finding a person's motives can help find common grounds and maybe try to show that person that the reasoning is not completely right.

But as far as isms come (race, sex), I would say I am pretty free from these. I might jokingly says such isms - I personally find that women are more easily distracted behind the wheel - but would never seriously imply that they are ALL like that. I know my sampling is not representative.
