Frodlex : I think DRWolf001 put it best it's not so much fan pandering as it is a love letter to the fandom and community. Without the fandom and the community I don't think it would have made it this far and I don't think it would have made it past the first season without us. The morale at the end is pretty much a thank you to us from the staff themselves.

It's not rare to have cartoons do this after all especially considering it was their 100th episode and they wanted to enjoy themselves and thank the community. 

Though with the fandom you will get the generic, "They're pandering to us too much", but these are the same people that complain that they don't get to see what they want.. Same with how people say it wouldn't have survived without the fandom... I'm pretty sure it may have. If anything it might have been more positive. 

There's always two sides to every story. and with the latter "could haves" are literally as right as the worst possible outcome.
