Pokémon Liquid Crystal is a fun, addictive, and somewhat challenging version of the original Pokémon Crystal on the Gameboy. Liquid Crystal isn't just a remake as it brings many new things to the table such as new rivals, a new team, gen 3 Pokémon never seen in Crystal, post game missions, gym leader rematches, many new places to explore using the underwater cave such as the type master dojo, and going to a orange island post game. This "remake" is very fun and expansive and I recommend it to newer and older Pokémon fans alike.
Graphics: 9
If I could I would give the graphics for Pokémon Liquid Crystal a 9.5 as the Graphics are very much improved on from the original. The only reason the graphics aren't a 10 is because there are occasional graphical errors (nothing game breaking or annoying) that are in the game but not counting the errors the graphics are fantastic for a remake the graphics look perfect for a remake and the graphics for Valencia Island looks great and there is nothing in the game that you will think is badly designed.
Sound: 10
The sound in this game is really good as some of the music isn't even in the original game and still sound good. All the music is good for wherever you are in the game and never makes you feel like it's annoying and each city has it's own music which makes it never get old. Even the music already in the game sounds great and that is what nets Liquid Crystal an easy 10 for sound which adds to the game experience.
Addictiveness: 9
It had me playing day after day since it was a while since I played Heart Gold and I enjoyed every minute of it, the game never got old and it was made very well as it never got boring even after getting all 16 badges and doing the post game content I was still wanting more game to play afterwards and it is even more addictive to long-time fans of Pokémon Crystal and Gen 2 in general.
Story: 10
The story is an easy 10 as its brings the remade game that was already very big on its own and adds even more content to the table with a few plot twists like someone turning evil, someone being more than meets the eye, someone becoming hungry for power, and someone's true father being revealed and many more plot twists that I can't reveal as it would ruin the story. Adding the post game content puts the icing on the cake as it makes the game even better and more expansive.
Depth: 9
Adding to the existing story there are new areas to explore such as the lost woods, outskirt island, the dive spots which you can take to go to any place in Kanto and Johto, Valencia island, and even new places to find legendaries. There is quite a bit of post game content where you can do things like fight Brendan, Face powerful trainers as strong as the champion, face the gym leaders again but stronger, defeat team rocket in multiple places, go to the first orange island, face the type master dojo and much more.
Difficulty: 7
While the difficulty is harder than crystal it isn't something where you have to grind all day to finish the game (like dark rising) even though without mild grinding you will have others with higher levels giving you a challenge. The game isn't very difficult and the only legitimately hard thing is the type master dojo where you have to fight 102 level 100 Pokémon in a row with no items which is downright ridiculous but beside that you shouldn't have too many problems with the game.
Overall: 9.7
Pokémon Liquid Crystal is a really great hack that I recommend to everyone as it is a fun, addictive, and long journey that you will enjoy the whole time with post game content to keep you excited for a long time.
