Basically, most of the same retro games I happen to play today are also the games I have played in my childhood, such as Super Mario Bros. 3, Super Mario World, The Legend of Zelda, Donkey Kong, and just name a few of the well known games in the past.

I view that games I grew up with seems a lot better than today's games.

The Super Nintendo gave me lots of enjoyment as a child, the two games I remember the most fondly are Inspector Gadget and Samurai Shodown, with Haohmaru as my favorite character to play as.

When I was a kid, my favorite game was Super Mario 64 because it was one of those games that wasn't overbearingly hard, yet at the same time, gave enough of a challenge to make the game super entertaining. It's one of the most flawless games I've ever played. If any platforming game deserves a 10 out of 10, it's definitely Super Mario 64.

My favourite childhood game was Spongebob Squarepants: Battle For Bikini Bottom.

It was amazing for an adaption game. It had a lot to do, it was fun, and I still never get tired of it.

My favorite game from my childhood would have to be Guardians Crusade. I probably played that until I was 9 when I lost it and ots still my favorite game of all time.

I have good memories of Bugertime on my father's computer. The graphics and sounds were rather primitive (the eggs were just walking red circles) but the concept was very interesting. Oh, why were pepper packs so limited?!

Tetris is also a favorite one. I used to be the Tetris Master... until someone speedruned the game, having the maximum score in less than 30 minutes . Nevertheless the game has also a very original and addictive concept.

Way back when I first started gaming I really enjoyed playing Aladdin for the genesis/mega drive, it was the first game that really hooked me and I played it extensively (though never beat it because I suck at platformers :p).

Another game I really enjoyed was Pokemon Colosseum. I had so many fun times playing that game, a big part of why I got into gaming was because I wanted to try the Pokemon games and when I first played this game it more or less blew my mind. A fully 3D Pokemon game that had double battles too seemed unreal to me and I played so much of it, I almost beat it to though my disc broke right before the last boss (one of the saddest moments in my childhood :c)

Sadly I haven't ever played the game since that day, I'd kind of like to try it and gale of darkness but I no longer have a gamecube so if I do it probably wont be for some time.

Seeing as I am somewhat young I grew in the PlayStation era and grew with a PlayStation 2 and had it for a long while and two games were heavily marked on my childhood and they were both sonic games, sonic heroes was one of them and I liked it so much cause there was so much to do (even though I didn't complete it) but the only places I reached the and was with the Amy and the chaotix stories

the other game was Sonic riders and that game was so much fun and I was so happy the day I finished it completely cause I had so much unlocked so I could play with my friends and I could race again and again, even though I nearly never used the speed characters cause I was never able to grind on the rails but even still it was a game I enjoyed very much and thoroughly and I'm happy to see all of your childhood games

I didn't really have that many games to play in my childhood, didn't really start having a lot of game until I got my Xbox 360. But the games that stand out for me are Super Mario Bros, Duck Hunt and Super Mario 64. I would say that Super Mario 64 would stand out more.

My favorite childhood game would be roller coaster tycoon. I played hundreds of hours of that game, and I still play it today. I made all different parks dealing with different scenarios and such. It was just an amazing game that I loved so much when I was younger.

SO MANY!!! The first game I ever played was Pilot Wings 64, and I love that game to this day. But I also loved Super Mario 64 and Mario Kart 64. But the one game that affected my life and remains with me today, is Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars. This is the first RPG I ever played, and RPG's are not my favorite game genre. If it weren't for this game, I probably wouldn't love Pokemon or Dark Souls today, two of my favorite games.

It's really hard to pick a "favorite" game from my childhood since there were so many great games on consoles when I was growing up.

NES
SNES
Genesis, etc etc

I mean where to start? It's like choosing your favorite kid or something ;-)

Anyways here are a few memorable titles from when I was younger on a bunch of different platforms.

Super Mario Brothers and Super Mario 3

Mega Man 2

Metroid

Super Metroid

Castlevania, Castlevania 3

Super Castlevania

Super Mario World

Pilotwings

Phantasy Star 2, 3, 4

Legend of Zelda

Legend of Zelda a Link to the Past

Metal Gear Solid

Tony Hawks Pro Skater 2

ExciteBike

Super Mario Land

Gran Turismo 2

Need For Speed Hot Pursuit

Starcraft

Conkers Bad Fur Day

I'm sure there are a ton more, but you get the point

Jordanv78 : CAN NOT BEAT Gran Turismo. It's actually the reason I bought ( then sold ) my PS4. I wanted to play Gran Turismo, but it wasn't out yet. That game had some much impact on my childhood, and is responsible for me loving racing games so much do this day.

Mario Kart 64 also helped a bit too, as well as Star Wars: Episode I Pod Racing.

Super Mario 64 and Donkey Kong 64 were my first 2 Open World Role Playing games, and I credit them my love of open world RPGs.

This might sound a little bit odd, but my family had a tradition when I was a kid of hooking up an Atari 7800, Sega Master System, or ColecoVision -- one of those three -- every Sunday night and we'd play for close to an hour and a half taking turns. My favorites for all three:

Atari 2600: Bowling. I got good enough at the steerable ball game variation that I actually had a few 300 games to my credit. Today, I can't remember how I did that and my best is something around 200.

Master System: Outrun. Not the best conversion of the game -- the one that came out on the Mega Drive was much better -- but I liked the game's music.

Colecovision: Q*Bert. Still have a soft spot for that two-legged nose who lives in a pyramid. I'm terrible at it, have never made it past Level 2, ever, but I loved luring that darn snake Coily off the edge of the pyramid.

When I was small, I was convinced I was a Tetris Queen, and would one day compete in big championships. To be honest, I'm still pretty good at it!
