Final Fantasy 7 Chocobo Breeding Guide

Hey guys its me! It has been a very long time since I have made a guide. I wanted to do a short one considering a long one could take me up to 2 weeks of work. And that I couldn't do due to doing other things now. I know there is another guide for this. I wouldn't’t say this one would be better. But I wanted to balance things out. Mine will have pictures here which will be a little easier to read. Or if you prefer the other one you can read that also. Now. You need to know that you can't start the chocobo breeding properly until you have gotten to disc 2 and have claimed the highwind as well.

The first time you arrive there. You'll need to start by talking to *Choco Bill* first. Then he will say talk to his grandson. Go to the stables to find *Choco Billy* he holds the *Chocobo Lure* that you'll need to catch chocobos. You'll need to pay him 2,000 Gil. That is another thing that you need to know. Make sure that you always have lots of gill on you. Listen to what choco Billy has to say once that is done you should know what to do next. That will be right from the beginning of when you need to pass the midgar zolom from the marshes.

Ok when you have the highwind and with cloud. Go back to the *Chocobo Farm* Make sure that you have around 100,000 Gil to be able to rent all of the 6 stables. This time the stables will not be at use. Go back and talk to choco bill first. He will say that you can rent out the 6 stables. Get as many as you can then get the rest later if you are short on Gil. But if you managed to fight a lot and gained quite a lot of Gil then you can rent them all quickly. If you have forgotten where it is here is where you need to go.

You will need to make sure that you have the nuts on you. So that it saves time getting them during the breeding. Also you will need to have or get these.

4 Carb Nuts < you'll have to steal them from Vlakorados, this guy.

To find him you will need to go to the northern continent the icicle part area to fight. To make it easier he's right near the chocobo sage house in the green part area. You can either steal or kill to get the 4 carb nuts. Or you can find him in the grass area next to the bone village. Here is another nut that you need to get *Zeio nut.* This can be found by the goblins that you may sometimes encounter. But there is a better way to get it as they have their very own island so that saves times for you. It may take time to get one but just keep on trying until you get 1 zeio nut. I need to tell you what type of greens to buy which are the good ones and the ones that are not so good. You will need to find the *Chocobo Sage* for better lasting greens. And as shown on the video link above you will see how to get there. You should have the Sylkis greens. You can buy lots of these if you cannot buy better greens due to short Gil on you. Reagan greens. These are the best to buy. You can get them from the chocobo sage for 3,000 Gil each. Stock up a lot if you can. Ok so once you have what you need head for mideel. It is very IMPORTANT that you follow these steps without catching random chocobos then having to start the hunt all over again. First find the *The good Male Chocobo* He can be found southeast from the gold saucer on grassy plains. Just look for the chocobo footprints. If you are having a hard time with that here is a few pictures of it. Or more like here is a map of it. It’s the same with the female ones as well.

So at least you will see where to go right? Go into battle the best way to do this is make sure the one that you are looking for have 2 spacers in the front row of it or with 2 flapbeat in the back row. Here are the pictures of it.

So make sure that you encounter of these two only.

Make sure that you catch a good male first to mate it with a great female chocobo. Then still catch a good female chocobo to pair up with a great male chocobo. I hope you are understanding a little of what I mean? Here are the footprints of a chocobo in a grassy area to find the good chocobos.

After the battle make sure that you click on send back to the stables. When you have caught a good dozen of chocobos go back to the chocobo farm him hoping that you have a good male chocobo, female one, and also a great female and the male one as well. Go and talk to chocobo Billy to move in your chocobos here is what you need to know if you have caught these chocobo right a great chocobo should be running while a good chocobo should be walking. If choco Billy says *This is a great chocobo!* or *This is a good chocobo* just hope that you get male and female of each.

If you catch chocobos that are not a great or good one. Let that chocobo go, so that there is space for two other chocobos.

You will need to know the bases of increasing a chocobos ability once you brought some greens. Simply feed the chocobo a green then it should say *stamina plus! Intelligence plus! Speed plus!* you'll need to go to the chocobo sage to buy the right greens to level up their abilities. Sylkis greens are the best to buy because you can increase all abilities at once whereas for Reagan greens you can only increase stamina. And not speed and intelligence. Its still good to buy the others if you are not able to get syliks greens. Here are also the names of other greens you can buy to level your chocobos status up

Mimet greens increases speed and stamina. But not intelligence.

Curiel greens also increases speed and stamina. But not intelligence.

Pahsana greens increases intelligence and stamina but not speed.

Tantal greens increases all stats < so this is another thing you can get besides. Sylkis greens as it is really expensive to buy like 5,000 Gil whereas tantal greens cost around 400 Gil.

Krakka greens increases only intelligence and not speed and stamina.

Gyshal greens only increases stamina.

So there you have it. Once you have gotten the hang of it. Increase your chocobos stats until it can not level up its abilities any further. Trust me you'll know when will happen. Also make sure you name them like grtmale or good female so that you don't get confused lol. When you have done that. It will be time to race your chocobos to get better and fasting breeding. You'll need to train them till you can get them to A or the S class. Mind you S class is not easy to get as this guy named zoro with his black chocobo will not make things easy for you. So train each chocobo then again go back to the farm to breed them. This is how you can take a look at your chocobos stats.

Here are the controls for when you are racing other chocobos
Square button is to speed up
X is to slow down
O is to boost while you race and you can also dash as well
The analog stick button is to move your chocobo
For select it can be used to switch out from auto and manual. How this works is that you can either let the chocobo race itself by leaving it on the auto. Or if you want control manual may be the one for you.
L1 and R1 is to maintain a steady speed while racing.
L2 and R2 is to gradually increase your chocobos stamina.

Here is my advice. Don’t press on the circle button so much as your stamina bar that shows on the left like this.

Will drop rapidly fast. Choose the best possible way to win. What I do is that I press square if that starts to decrease I then press L2 and R2 to gain it back. So use any possible strategy to your advantage to win the race. As that will happen your chocobo will start to get more faster and stronger. Here is what happens to your stamina bar if you don’t stop full speeding

Before you do this it is very important that you save before breeding! Because anything can go wrong. So before you go back into the farm save outside in the world map. This is how you will need to breed them first feed a carb nut to *Great female chocobo and Good male chocobo* first. When you do that you should get a *Green chocobo* if not then switch off the game and restart it until you do. When you have done that either genders are fine to get. Make sure you save once again once obtained the green chocobo. Then feed the *Great male chocobo and Good female chocobo* a carb nut and this time instead of green you should be going for a *Blue chocobo* make sure the gender for this one is the opposite to the one that you got for the green chocobo.

Your newly coloured chocobos will gain some powers that a yellow chocobo can't get. The green chocobo can cross mountain tops and take you to secret hidden areas in the game. While the blue chocobo can cross waters only the shallow part though. With this it will be a little annoying as you will have to wait till your chocobos have matured a bit. As in just feed your colour chocobos race them but not feed them the carb nut after. Here is another thing you will have to guess for when they have matured. When you think it is time then feed them the carb nut. Remember! Always save before feeding them the carb nut! And then....duhn duhn duhhn! You should get a *Black chocobo!* If you don’t then like I said before restart the game until you do. Ok! So you have a black chocobo this is where the fun begins!

Level up your chocobos stats then before going to race with it. DO NOT. Why? Because you now need to catch a *Wonderful chocobo* if you have forgotten where it is then go a look back to the map that I placed before. You can find one in the icicle northern part continent this will be a hard thing lol as you will need to land in a green grass area with the highwind. Here is where the chocobo footprints are at

To get a really great wonderful chocobo you will need to see two bunnies by the side of it. When you do make sure you feed the chocobo and get rid of the bunnies in battle. Remember you will need to catch one of the opposite gender to the one that you have for the black chocobo. If it is the same gender then go back and continue catching until you get the right gender. When that happens level up the wonderful chocobo by feeding it greens to increase its stats. THEN you can go and race. You now have a better chance at beating zoro with his black chocobo considering you have one. If you have been leveling up the black chocobos stats right then your speed and stamina should not match his but be way above if so then you know you will be able to win. So race like there is no tomorrow.

This part is the most boring part in the game. You will need to wait for both of the chocobos to mature and this one is long....meanwhile you can focus on getting stuff for your characters. Like new limit breaks getting more and better materia or facing some really hard bosses like emerald or ruby.

When you have done either of this save before trying to breed them. This time feed the black chocobo and the wonderful chocobo a *Zeio Nut* this will gain the key to get a *Gold chocobo!* If you do this right then you should obtained a *Gold chocobo.* At this point of time you can go anywhere in the world with a gold chocobo! It can run on top of water climb mountains, on the marshes and many more! Congrats you have now completed the chocobo breeding part! Enjoy. ^-^
