I fell in love with Monster Castle the very first time that I played it. Its like one of those fun little tower defense games, and I love those, which would make this game a perfect fit for me. However, the truth is that this game is even better than a simple tower defense game because there's so much more to it. Instead of using towers to defend, this time its an actual tower that you are trying to defend and you play as monsters who are trying to defend your place from humans who are trying to both destroy and steal all of your gold and wine. On my old phone, I looked at all the reviews so I ended up getting it and I played it for maybe a week straight and I loved it, especially the multiplayer part because that's where things get really interesting.

GRAPHICS 8/10

The graphics aren't bad, and if I had to compare them to another game, I would have to say that this one closely resembles Dungeon Hunter Alliance for the Vita. In fact, I would say that the stuff that you do in the game is a bit similar to what you do in that game. Comparing the graphics to that Vita game is a pretty good thing because even though the game was a bit restricted, the graphics were really good. Of course, with Monster Castle, its not the same because you aren't exploring anything, just looking at your castle the entire time. Just because the world isn't huge doesn't mean that it doesn't look good and that's because everything that's in the game is comes with a perfect design. The game is colorful which is good, but for me, I really like the art style. It doesn't really look like something that you would find in most games, but I like this kind of style. It takes simple designs and gives them a fresh new look with a nice color combination and cool designs. Its not perfect, but even if you had put these graphics on a console game, it would work out and still pass as a legit game and because of that, my grade for graphics is going to be an 8 out if 10.

SOUND 9/10

In my opinion, the sound is the best aspect of the game, and I would go as far as to say that its one of the best sounding games that I have played on a mobile devices. I'm not even saying that because of the main sounds of the game, which are actually not too good. Nope, the sound aspect of this game is so high because of the music. The main menu music is really good in my opinion and it makes me think of the music that plays in Bully and The Escapists and ever since I played Bully for the first time, I really liked that style of music which is why I liked this song. The battle music is just as good because its full of energy and its quick. Both songs are amazing and help the sound aspect boost to a really good 9 out of 10.


ADDICTIVENESS 8/10

I'll be the first to say that this game is fun because it is. Games like this are already fun, but then this time the game switches up the roles with the humans attacking monsters and because of that along with the dialogue between the two roles, just watching the story unfold can be pretty entertaining. That's right, you don't even have to play the game to have fun, you just need to watch everything. This game is more than just a defense game. On the defense side, you get to put up traps, weapons, and more around your castle and when you're ready, a wave of humans will come and try to destroy what you put up as well as different parts of your castle. Just that alone is fun, but this game takes all that to the next level with its multiplayer abilities and you can actually hire your own monster army and you can go around attacking monster castles of other users the same way and if you win you get all kinds of cool things. There can't really be that many things that are more fun than that, can there? Just the basics of the game are fun enough and then you add all of these cool features on top of that and you find yourself with a really fun and addicting game. For that, my grade for this aspect is going to be an 8 out of 10.

STORY 7/10

No way. Is there really a story? Well, I forgot most of it by now, but yes there's a story! Its been so long since I tasted the taste of a story and it feels so good to hear a plot. Well its not much of a story but it does two things. This story gives a foundation for what's going on and it also makes the game more entertaining my offering more than its fair share in laughs. The story revolves around the leader of some human empire who wants to act like a hero and kill off all of the monsters. After each level we see a fun little dialogue between the monster king and the human, and after each fun little cutscene, the human sends some soldiers to destroy your castle and steal all of your goal and wine. Honestly, the human leader is an idiot, and because of all the stuff that goes on between them, the game could actually be a lot more fun if you pay attention to what's going on beyond the game play instead of just skipping everything and playing the game. The story is small, but its there and it plays a big role in what the game does and also in the user experience so as for a grade I'm going to give this aspect a 7 out of 10.

DEPTH 8/10

I personally think that there's a lot to this game. I'm nor exactly sure hoe many main levels there are against the humans but I'm sure that there are quite a few to fight through. You also have the preparation for each level which includes making your castle bigger as well as putting down the giant assortment of traps and objects. On top of that you have all the things that some of your items produce such as gold, wine, and minions which are uses for so much more. Once you get past the main human part of the game there's no reason to stop there because you have the multiplayer version now which offers you an unlimited amount of opportunities. You can play with anybody around the world, you send your minions to destroy other players castles and steal all of their stuff, you build your castle to defend from other players, and you get all sorts of rankings to show off how awesome you are of a monster. Just having a multiplayer mode in general adds a lot to the game but then you have all sorts of features added not only to the multiplayer mode but to the single player game as well. All the various features add a lot to the game which in return means that the game as a lot of depth, and as for a grade, I'm going to give this aspect an 8 out of 10.

DIFFICULTY 4

The game isn't really that hard because all it's about is setting up your defenses and battling out with anybody who attacks your castle. The only bad thing that can happen in this game is that you could not have enough traps and weapons or you end up putting them in the wrong place. If this happens you will start losing but all you have to do to fix this is save up money to buy more traps and weapons and you just need to move them to the places that would do more damage. There will be some times that the game seems impossible and that you keep losing over and over but it's all about how much money you save up because once you start upgrading and then buying more stuff. That's all you have to do for the main game and it's the same when you are playing against real people but some of them might just be overpowered compared to you and there's nothing you can do about that. In general, the game is pretty easy but can seem difficult at times and my grade for ddifficultyis going to be a 4.

OVERALL 8.2/10

Overall this is a pretty swell game that's a lot of fun for people who are like me and like these kinds of games such as tower defense games. Tower defense games are pretty high up on my list of fun games and this one is so much better than some TD game because of all the cool features and the multiplayer mode. If you are a fan of TD games then I suggest you give it a try and if you either dont like them or never played one before but are curious as to why this could be so much fun, then I still suggest that you play it. It's free, so what's the worst that could happen? This is a very fun game that's addictive enough to waste away many hours of your life and I know it already wasted at least a dozen or so hours out of mine. I loved this game and my overall grade for it will be an 8.2 out of 10.
