Yeah I think you took that the wrong way. Some people can spend years trying for a baby or even have to take special medications, I'm just glad we were successful as soon as we wanted one, I'd rather be a father now than 10 years from now.

I know exactly what you mean. It took my wife and I a year to get our first. Took 3-4 months to get pregnant the first time. She had a miscarriage early on in that pregnancy (8 weeks or so)... and then it took another 3-4 months to get pregnant after waiting for about 2 months for her to recoup. So yeah, I know exactly what you mean by relief that she got pregnant right away.

And don't name your kid Samus.... that's just terrible.

I personally think to much computer and TV is making some of these kids lack creativity, intelligence, social skills and a personality. I definitely want to get my kid into toys and using their imagination, playing outside, being active, etc. Of course I'll let them play video games, go on computer and watch TV but I don't want that to be the only thing they do. Some of these kids spend all day on the computer and they're not doing anything productive on there, if they were doing something creative or getting something accomplished it'd be fine but when some of these kids spend literally all their free time on the computer and nothing else, I just don't think that it's healthy mentally or physically.

If its a boy, name him Sora or Drake.
If its a girl, name her Kairi or Rena.

Then again, depending on what they're watching they can learn a lot from certain programs.

True but the kinds of shows kids are into are usually not educational, some are though. But as I said, I don't want the TV or PC to raise my kid

I always love how new parents or soon to be parents feel compared to people without kids.

People without kids always talk about all the latest gadgets and what not to help make your kid smarter... except that when you become a parent you don't want the TV to raise your child.... you want to do it yourself. Which I completely understand. I'd rather have full control over what my child is taught (until they head off to school at least) rather than giving them over to shows and programs that I'm not familiar with.

I disagree. I have become much smarter since I've began going online. You think my vocabulary used to be this large? Hell no. Also, it helps social skills. Not as much as seeing a person face-to-face, but it's still human interaction. Personality? Again, I disagree. It's actually helped mine develop.

Yup ! Agreed about the television part but computer , Do you know that on the computer kids can be more social and some of them gain intelligence and creativity from DA COMPUTER ROOM , like how some kids make flash videos (but most suck ) and some ADHD kids will run around the room doing loading times wondering how musch more epic it can get (or is it just me ) .

About intelligence is all in games , every level needs you to think , right ?

also intelligence can be gain if you let them mess around in flash or provit (a stickman progam thingy ) .

but here's something for you , don't let your kids go on the internet when they are under 8 - 9 (I am seeing my sister's friend watching FRED and they are both about 6-7 years old ) and when I was young I don't have internet till I was 9 .

I hate television sometimes , the news is more scary then a horror film those days , and for television you don't even need to think while in games you need to.

also how does to computer make you stupid (the stupid ones are those who take 1 min to type a sentence and about an hour to type this long post on a computer (also in DA COMPUTER ROOM ) ) I been using this high tech stuff since I was 4 (again with no internet) and it was how I learn to type at such high speed , also my grammar has (or is it have) gotten better then my 1st post when I spelled think like "thnik " or something like that .

And I can't really post to much here anymore so I am going to be off vizzed board for a while but please let your kids FIND DA COMPUTER ROOM and let them use the computer.

Your most hated member , Didowe .

I don't count the socializing on a computer as developing real social skills. I've been using the computer and forums for 10+ years and if anything, it's destroyed my social skills and has made me even more shy. I have no problem having a live conversation with a complete stranger on the internet but in person, I have troubles starting a convo and keeping it going. A lot of kids I've noticed are becoming very angry and demanding that use the computer/internet a lot as well. On the positive side though, it has made my grammar skills and typing speed a lot better.

Also, I don't see how going on facebook would make someone more intelligent. I'm not saying computers make you stupid but people have become dependent by it. Some people can learn a lot on a computer but based on what I see most people using a computer for, I doubt they're doing anything that will teach them anything valuable to real life. Oh yeah, lets not forget to mention the disturbing increase of obesity among teenagers, it's just outrageous.

Games on the other hand can be very simulating for your brain and I do think that it's very healthy for your brain if not overly used. But again, that depends on the game.

My decisions on how I raise my kid are my personal choices and are based on years of wisdom and experience. Any time you overly use or do something, it's almost never good (and in this case, a lot of kids who use a computer usually use it all day and literally every day).
